We have had the great pleasure of seeing New Years Day nearly half a dozen times in just the last couple years and on Wednesday we saw them once again as they returned to the Ace of Spades as they are out on tour with The Birthday Massacre.  New Years Day have the knack of putting on a whole of a performance every time and this time, I believe they outdid themselves. They were absolutely on point the entire night with energy abound and truly reaching a peak of perfection with their music.

Ash Costello is truly an amazing vocalist and artist, her stage presence captivates the crowd and she invites them to join in her in singing the songs. The audience was fully engaged from start to finish. Anthony is a madman on bass and you he has great powerful backing vocals. Nikki Misery is absolutely stellar in his fierce guitar shredding as he is bouncing around the stage with leaps and jumps that will have your eyes wide open.

Nick Rossi unleashes his adrenaline as he turns into beast mode on the drums, delivering precision drumming with every beat. With the addition of Tyler Burgess on guitar, he appears to be the perfect match for the energy that this band brings out. He was wild on stage and together they created an intense level of excitement that I haven’t seen in a while. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

We had the opportunity to chat with New Years Day shortly before their set and we will be bringing that interview to you later this weekend. For now, make sure to check the remaining dates of the tour and don’t miss them when they are coming to a venue near you.  If you don’t already have it, I would strongly encourage you to pick up their latest EP, EPIDEMIC. The EP really displays the great musicianship of this band and how they have evolved through their sound. They really bring out the passion in their songs as well as when they perform live. This is a band that speaks volumes of truth in their music and give you a good dose of hard ROCK at the same time.

We loved it when they came to Slim’s in San Francisco on the We Love Tour featuring Combichrist and William Control. They delivered a high energy intense set that had the crowd in awe. I think they set a record for crowd surfing during a set at Slim’s which rarely tolerates. It was probably the most energetic crowd that I have witnessed at their performances, full on mosh pit, crowd participation and infectious passion raging through the crowd. Check out the slideshow of photographs by our Rockin Ryan from their SF show:

We brought you our coverage of Asking Alexandria as they made a stop in San Francisco for The Moving On Tour. Now, we can’t wait to tell you about the opening band out on the tour, The Family Ruin. We have been featuring this amazing rock band from the UK all year long. We brought you our review of their kick ass album, Dearly Departed which was released in September and we couldn’t wait to finally catch them perform live.

One thing is for sure, they delivered an amazing kick ass set at the Regency Ballroom. I love it when a band that I really enjoy listening to can match the same intensity of their music as they do live on stage. This is one band that definitely has no problem conquering that battle. They blew me away and had me eagerly wanting to see them again soon! Check out more photos of their set by our Rockin Ryan:

From the moment they hit the stage and until they walked off to greet fans at their merch booth, they captivated the crowd with their high energy rock. To get to see them perform live my favorites from their album like Let’s Go, Let It Burn, and Bring Out Your Dead. The crowd quickly fell in love with them and you know that many concert goers left with The Family Ruin being their new favorite band!

Last night was a rainy one in San Francisco but inside the Regency Ballroom you found a crowd of even more soaked fans. These fans were drenched in sweat as they had spent the night moshing, crowd surfing and just releasing every ounce of energy. Asking Alexandria was just as fierce on the stage, reciprocating with their own adrenaline filled set that left everyone Breathless! What a fantastic night. As you know, Asking Alexandria are one of our favorite bands and when they perform live, it is as you have been shocked by a defibrillator. You receive the right amount of electric dose of energy to bring you back to life.

The 14 song setlist included songs from all their albums and the crowd went wild for each and every song, whether they were singing along to Moving On, fist pounding to Not The American Average, or intensely moshing to The Prophecy or To The Stage.  What I love about this band, is that each and every one of them has insurmountable stage presence that combined delivers a spectacular set.

Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

I want to introduce you to a great modern hard rock band from Madison, Wisconsin called Opal.  They made quite an impression as they opened for In This Moment out on the Black Widow Tour last month at The Rave. They not only rocked the stage but Vocalist/Guitarist also paid tribute to his cousin, Shaun Holland who he lost to leukemia complications by performing on Shaun’s Ibanez guitar which was given to him by his Aunt.

Opal is ready to deliver more hard rock in 2015 as they already have a couple shows booked. They will be performing on January 2nd at The Frequency in Milwaukee and January 17th at The Metal Grill in Cudahy.  In addition, they have also just added another guitarist, Alex Hanson. Opal also features Theron Hayden on Vocals, Guitars & Lyrics, Nathan Kast on Bass, David Corvus on Drums & Percussion.

To take a listen to Opal, head on over to their Reverbnation page and check out Sick Drama Carousel or Hole in My Heart. Make sure to visit their social media sites so you can stay up to date on their latest news.

As we continue with our coverage of last night’s Monster Energy Outbreak Tour stop in Sacramento, I hope you checked out our articles on  Sworn In and Like Moths to Flames. Next up for the night was one of our favorite bands, Crown The Empire. This was the fourth time seeing them this year and they once again delivered a spot on set. They have had quite a busy year with non stop touring and the great success of their latest album release, The Resistance: Rise of the Runaways. It appears with the energy they bring to the stage, there is no slowing down in sight for these guys. They are dedicated to always delivering 150% to each and every show.

They definitely had a strong fan presence in the crowd as you could tell by everyone singing along to each song. They played crowd favorites like Rise of the Runaways, Machines, Bloodline and even finished it off with an amazing performance of The Fallout. They completely rocked the venue and you couldn’t help but be in awe of their cinematic spectacular set. If you walked through those doors not knowing who Crown The Empire was, you left that night with them being your new favorite band. You couldn’t escape the intensity that this band delivered as they had the blood rushing through your veins and left you feeling absolutely alive! This is one band that has successfully breathed the life back into Rock n Roll and added a strong dose of hardcore to insure the right blend that will stand the test of time. Their sound appeals to a wide audience and that is no wonder that their fanbase exponentially grows with each show.

We were glad we braved the 4 hour traffic filled trek to Sacramento last night to catch the Monster Energy Outbreak Rock Tour. After sitting in traffic for so long, it was great to arrive at the Ace of Spades for a night of heavy music to release all that pent up frustration! The night started right off with a fierce set by Sworn In from Chicago. Holy shit, these guys blew us away!

This was the first time I heard of Sworn In and after just a few minutes of hitting the stage, I was converted from a newbie to an absolute die-hard lover. I am bummed that it has taken me so long to find out about this band, but I am now grateful. They have a ferociously heavy sound that brought the crowd to peak levels within minutes of starting.  I am not going to do them the injustice of trying to describe them as a certain genre or sub-genre, they are just pure energy heavy rock with metal influences that you have to hear. Hands down, one of the best sets from an opening band that I have seen in a long time.  With songs like Snake Eyes and Dead Soul, they are going to be your new Go To band on your playlist.

Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

There are still some dates left out on the tour, so make sure to get out and see them!

dellacoma

We all know the amazing vocals of Dellacoma Rio, former frontman of Australian Hard Rock Band, Sunset Riot and now you can once again enjoy his signature vocals with his new band, Dellacoma. Dellacoma is set to release their debut full length album, South of Everything next year. 2015 definitely promises to be a busy year as Rio explains, “2015 will see the release of our debut full length album titled “South of Everything” This is exciting for me because I’ve never released a full length record before! We will be releasing a couple of videos and of course, more touring!

I know you are ready for some straight up rock n roll and Dellacoma is ready to deliver. They are premiering their new song, My Kinda Woman which is off their upcoming album. Rio comments on the song, “I like to think of ‘My Kinda Woman’ as a masculine love song. It’s straight up and in your face, full of passion and emotion as well as desire. The inspiration is my beautiful wife, we’ve been together 3 and a half years but I still am blown away by her. She’s quite an incredible woman.”  Hold on tight and take a listen to My Kinda Woman:

I love the swirling guitars and powerful vocals that deliver a sultry vibe. I can’t wait to hear more from them and hopefully get to see them soon. We asked Rio about any upcoming shows and he mentions, “At the moment I am doing a few solo band shows as well as some solo acoustic here in Australia. We will be taking to the road hopefully by spring of 2015 to coincide with the release of ‘South of Everything

So make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news.
