2014 is definitely the year for The Relapse Symphony! They not only put out what I believe is one of the top albums of the year, did some extensive non-stop touring but now are going to be releasing what could be another top album! They are going to be releasing an acoustic version of their album, Shadows titled Shadows The Acoustic Sessions. The LP is set for release on December 16th through Standby Records and they have just launched the pre-order. Head over to http://standbyrecords.net/ and get your order in. Make sure to pick up extra copies so you can give them to your friends for the holidays!
I listened to the album and I have to tell you….. WOW, It is just as amazing as their original and with the acoustic atmosphere, it brings to life so much emotion. Bret’s vocals are spot on spectacular and the backing vocals from the band is superb. Unbelievable and what a great group of talented young musicians. I can’t wait for you to hear it, so get your orders in!
Guitarist J.C. Charles says, “After releasing SHADOWS in July and touring it all Summer, we really began to appreciate the songs in a raw, live setting. We wanted to challenge ourselves to strip the album down completely and go in and do the whole thing acoustic. We are so used to recording in fancy studios with producers and a lot of complicated arrangements, and it felt good to do away with all of that and just do these songs live and acoustic. This acoustic album feels like a good transition from SHADOWS to our next record, which is sure to be much less produced and more raw and aggressive.”
I will leave you with a couple of their videos, “One More Yesterday” & “Savage Eyes” These are easily two of our favorite songs from the album Shadows. The video for Savage Eyes has a mysterious old time horror film vibe, which really fits the song well. One More Yesterday delivers a cinematic portrayal of a funeral for Bret and was inspired by J.C.’s concept. It includes cameo appearances from members of Burn Halo, Dead Rabbitts and more. Check them both out below

If you don’t already have it, make sure to also pick up the original album, Shadows on iTunes here. Make sure to check our full album review here. Need more of The Relapse Symphony? Check out the photos from their set in San Francisco on the Shapeshiftour.
Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news and tour updates. I will leave you with an interview we did when The Relapse Symphony made there stop in San Francisco for the Shapeshiftour.
New Years Day have just released their new 5 song EP titled EPIDEMIC. The EP was released yesterday and really displays the great musicianship of this band and how they have evolved through their sound. They really bring out the passion in their songs as well as when they perform live. This is a band that speaks volumes of truth in their music and give you a good dose of hard ROCK at the same time. Check out their newly released music video for Defame Me which is off their new EP.

We loved it when they came to Slim’s in San Francisco on the We Love Tour featuring Combichrist and William Control. They delivered a high energy intense set that had the crowd in awe. I think they set a record for crowd surfing during a set at Slim’s which rarely tolerates. It was probably the most energetic crowd that I have witnessed at their performances, full on mosh pit, crowd participation and infectious passion raging through the crowd. ARCH ENEMY have announced Jeff Loomis as their new guitarist and he will be joining them on their upcoming European tour as well as all future 2015 tour dates. Jeff Loomis states: “I’m very excited to be playing with ARCH ENEMY. Michael Amott and I have stayed in contact over the years since we toured together when I was playing in NEVERMORE. Not only do I admire his guitar playing and songwriting, but I also consider him a close friend. To be able to share the stage with Michael, Sharlee, Daniel and Alissa is something I’m really looking forward to. 2015 is going to be a great year… See you all on tour!“
After a great year of intensive touring in support of their critically acclaimed album, War Eternal, ARCH ENEMY is parting ways with guitarist Nick Cordle, who states: “With ‘War Eternal’, I believe we wrote an album together which will stand the test of time, and I wish them well for the future.” USA fans will be able to catch a special reunion as Christopher Amott (the brother of ARCH ENEMY founder/bandleader Michael Amott) has joined the band for the remainder of their American headlining tour.Michael Amott (guitars) comments: “We all wish Nick the very best in his new endeavors and we are sure that you will hear much more from him. We’re also super grateful to my brother Christopher for stepping in to finish the current American tour! The prospect of working with Jeff Loomis moving forward is truly awesome! Jeff Loomis is one of the best guitar players in the metal world in my opinion, as well as being a long time friend. I look forward to tearing it up on stages around the world together as we continue on the ‘War Eternal’ touring cycle throughout all next year and beyond!”

The Bad Suns from Southern California just released their new video for their song, Salt. It is an amazingly powerful and impressive video. The song has a great uptempo uplifting vibe and yet carries such depth through the dark lyrics. The video truly brings those lyrics to life as it takes you on a tumultuous journey through a young transgender eyes as he struggles with gender identity. It is such a great video that I absolutely love! Check it out here:
The song is off their debut album, Language and Perspective which was released earlier this year. You can head over to iTunes here and pick it up. Bad Suns will soon be announcing dates for their headline tour of 2015 and I can’t wait to see them again. We have been bringing you coverage of our coverage of Arch Enemy, Huntress and Starkill and now we present to you our coverage of …. Kreator. WOW! What a night it was to see all these great metal bands take the stage at the Regency Ballroom but especially to see the return of German thrash metal band, Kreator. It seemed everywhere I turned fans were wearing their Kreator shirts and telling stories of the times they saw them last or favorite albums, etc.
The birthplace of thrash metal was the perfect setting for the return of Kreator and the crowd was fueled and ready to go. From the second Kreator hit the stage, the crowd parted and an intense mosh pit opened up and seemed to span the length of the ballroom! It was fierce and with every bad ass thrash song Kreator played, the energy increased and the mosh pit intensified to insurmountable levels. It brought me back to my vivid memories of catching local thrash bands perform at The Stone in SF long ago. I am sure many of those same crowdgoers were there in attendance for Kreator.
Kreator played a full co-headlining set and it was great to hear them perform all the fan favorites as the crowd banged their heads in solid agreement of each song played. The room was completely filled with adrenaline as the circle put would grow with each song. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

ARCH ENEMY are currently in the midst of their North American tour and we were so glad to see them make a stop in San Francisco earlier this week. They performed to a packed crowd at The Regency Ballroom. It was an absolute mindblowing set that will satisfy your every need for metal. They destroyed the venue as the energy was raised well beyond the roof and couldn’t be contained. Vocalist Alissa White-Gluz has such a commanding stage presence that you couldn’t keep your eyes off her as she tore up the stage and insured that everyone was giving their 150% of pure metal bliss! It was fierce and the sound was spot on.
The guitars from Michael and Nick sounded so bad ass, they just infected your soul with metal and you were immediately under their spell. The magic between the two is spectacular to watch. You can’t help but have the sound intensified with the precision drumming of Daniel and of course Sharlee, a beast on the bass. Together their sound is tight and delivered in such a manner that you are not only left well satisfied but the glutton in you can’t help but beg for more! Check out a photo slideshow from our Rockin Ryan of the set:

They have several more shows remaining on the tour and I would highly recommend getting yourself to a show. The tour includes amazing sets from Starkill, Huntress, and an over the top set from Kreator.

STARKILL from Chicago recently opened for Arch Enemy earlier this week as the tour made a stop in San Francisco. The night was perfect and included awesome sets by Huntress and Kreator. Starkill opened the night with pure adrenaline as they hit the stage. These guys came out and gave 150% and left it all out on that stage. They got the crowd fired up as they played songs from their recently released album, Virus Of The Mind out on Century Media Records. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:
STARKILL is:
Parker Jameson: lead guitar, vocals, keyboards
Spencer Weidner: drums
Tony Keathley: guitar, backing vocals
Shaun Andruchuk: bass guitar
The band recently launched a video for the lead track “Before Hope Fades” as well as a lyric video for the title track, “Virus Of The Mind.” Check them both out here:
Make sure to pick up your copy of Virus of The Mind and crank it up loud enough for your neighbors to hear. They will thank you for you introducing them to some bad ass new metal!

Tickets will go on sale this Friday so don’t miss out and get your tickets early! I promise you that it will be a show you will never forget. The Black Veil Brides Black Mass Tour made a stop in San Francisco earlier this month. In case you missed it, check out our coverage of the spectacular night!
After opening sets by Set It Off, Drama Club and Falling In Reverse, the night was topped off with a stunning set by Black Veil Brides. They took to the stage and started right with the first single, Heart of Fire off their recently released self titled album. The energy that these five young men bring out is non stop and truly remains unmatched. The set was filled with a variety of old and new songs, even performing Coffin for the first time in San Francisco. The light show was stunning and the sound was crisp and spot on. If you listen to people talk about the rock scene being dead or the music industry is dying out, when you come to a BVB show, you will see the living and breathing proof that Rock will never die! I loved seeing the crowd which included fans as young as 6 years old and as seasoned rockers well into their senior years, singing along to every word. The music of Black Veil Brides does not limit itself to one genre, age, or lifestyle. It is simply pure rock and roll at its finest and that is why the attraction to them is insurmountable. You can’t help but love their music and even more so, the message they bring to the fans about staying true to who you, follow your dreams and stand up and be proud. Each generation brings those bands that will stand the test of time, Beatles, The Who, Rolling Stones, Kiss, Van Halen, Motley Crue, just to name a few, and now without a doubt; Black Veil Brides rightfully carries their place on the list.
Stay tuned as we will be bringing you full photo galleries of each set. If The Black Mass 2014 Tour is coming to a venue even remotely near you, I would strongly urge you to make it to one of the shows. You will find yourself at what I think is the Best Tour of 2014!
