We brought you our coverage of Asking Alexandria as they made a stop in San Francisco for The Moving On Tour. Now, we can’t wait to tell you about the opening band out on the tour, The Family Ruin. We have been featuring this amazing rock band from the UK all year long. We brought you our review of their kick ass album, Dearly Departed which was released in September and we couldn’t wait to finally catch them perform live.

One thing is for sure, they delivered an amazing kick ass set at the Regency Ballroom. I love it when a band that I really enjoy listening to can match the same intensity of their music as they do live on stage. This is one band that definitely has no problem conquering that battle. They blew me away and had me eagerly wanting to see them again soon! Check out more photos of their set by our Rockin Ryan:

From the moment they hit the stage and until they walked off to greet fans at their merch booth, they captivated the crowd with their high energy rock. To get to see them perform live my favorites from their album like Let’s Go, Let It Burn, and Bring Out Your Dead. The crowd quickly fell in love with them and you know that many concert goers left with The Family Ruin being their new favorite band!

Check the dates below and see if you will be able to catch The Family Ruin out on tour:

Last night was a rainy one in San Francisco but inside the Regency Ballroom you found a crowd of even more soaked fans. These fans were drenched in sweat as they had spent the night moshing, crowd surfing and just releasing every ounce of energy. Asking Alexandria was just as fierce on the stage, reciprocating with their own adrenaline filled set that left everyone Breathless! What a fantastic night. As you know, Asking Alexandria are one of our favorite bands and when they perform live, it is as you have been shocked by a defibrillator. You receive the right amount of electric dose of energy to bring you back to life.

The 14 song setlist included songs from all their albums and the crowd went wild for each and every song, whether they were singing along to Moving On, fist pounding to Not The American Average, or intensely moshing to The Prophecy or To The Stage.  What I love about this band, is that each and every one of them has insurmountable stage presence that combined delivers a spectacular set.

Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

The tour is named after their most recent single, Moving On. The song definitely highlights the versatility of the band as it brings out a stadium style rock ballad to life. It is definitely one of my favorites. Check out the video here:

Concert review – Asking Alexandria w. Secrets, Crown The Empire and The Ghost Inside, Contributed by Alexandra

Munich, Tonhalle, October 17th, 2014

Shortly before doors opened at 6pm there was already a long queue around the corner that soon started moving. The show was sold out, so some people were on the lookout for tickets without any luck though it seems.

The first band, Secrets, entered the stage at exactly 7pm. It was their second time in Germany. They opened up and seemed to have an immediate impact on the audience. They later sold many CD’s in the merch booth which speaks for itself.

Second on were Crown The Empire. It was their first time in Germany and I’m pretty confident not their last. Their set started with the opening tunes of their latest album ‚The resistance‘. They played mostly songs from that album, like Machines, Bloodline and Initiation. For the song ‚Rise of the Runaways‘ Brian Escamilla, second man on vocals, also picked up a guitar. With three guitars on stage the sound was massive. As Andrew Velasquez told the audience it was their best gig so far on this tour, which makes us all hope for a comeback anytime soon. Their IG post after the show read ‚All we have to say is WOW…thank you for being so amazing tonight Munich, Germany! The rest of Europe has some competition‘.

Third act on the set-list was The Ghost Inside. Considering the cheers and the loud sing-alongs they were known to a large number of people in the audience. It was only their second time here, but they already had a steady fan-base. Everybody was properly warmed up for whom everyone was waiting for.

Between the sets, to shorten the wait, they played some Aerosmith, Guano Apes and Beasty Boys. When Europe‘s Final Countdown started playing the crowd started to chant along really loud. Many were surprised by that, but after a while they tuned the song up a few notches and the everyone kept singing along until the final tunes faded.

The stage was set for Asking Alexandria. Soon as the intro to ‚Don’t pray for me‘ sounded from the PA the crowd started cheering. Last on stage was Danny Worsnop, their singer. He had a German flag tied to his mic-stand which he carried around most of the show. The focus of the set-list sure was on their recent album ‚From death to destiny‘, which is also the name of this tour, but they played some songs of their former CD’s too, like ‚To the stage‘, ‚Someone, somewhere‘, ‚A prophecy‘ and ‚Not the American average‘. At about half time of the show, they left the stage for antoher intro-like track, which is more a spoken piece, called ‚Dedication‘. All songs were well received by the crowd. They couldn’t have chosen better ones. Whilst the show Dany thanked the crowd for buying their records, cuz like he said, their fans seem to still buy physical copies instead of downloading songs from the internet, which gets pretty rare. Like Andrew he said that it was one of the best shows so far, which he also stated on his IG/Twitter ‚Absolutely in love with the show tonight here in Munich. Every second was just pure gold. Love y’all…‘. After about 60 minutes they closed the set with The Final Episode. When first protests started to be heard, Danny said they’d be back. The audience thankfully didn’t have to wait too long for that. They played three encores Killing You, The Death Of Me and Poison.

All three opening acts were at the merch booth afterwards to take pictures, sign stuff, sell their merch and chat with the people.

My résumé: A fun evening for audience and bands…one more song please!!

The Senator Theater in Chico will never be the same as Asking Alexandria came through for their stop on the  BREAK DOWN THE WALLS Tour this past week.  They came in with full non-stop energy from start to finish! Tonight they finish up their US leg of the tour in Mesa, Arizona at the UFest.  Then they head off overseas for several shows and return in July for the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festivals.

The Senator Theater was packed as the opening bands, Born of Osiris, Crown The Empire, We Came as Romans and August Burns Red got the crowd warmed up for the almighty AA!  The stage setup was great from the the multiple backdrops featuring previous albums to the vending machines. The only thing we were missing were the dancing vices especially Erin Johnson from The Death of Me video! Their set list for the evening was:

  1. Don’t Pray for Me
  2. Run Free
  3. Breathless
  4. Dedication
  5. Someone, Somewhere
  6. Reckless and Relentless
  7. To the Stage
  8. A Prophecy
  9. Break Down The Walls
  10. Killing You
  11. The Death of Me
  12. Poison
  13. Welcome
  14. Closure
  15. The Final Episode (Let’s Change the Channel)

James Cassells was breaking in his new double bass Truth Custom Drum Kit, set on high risers so everyone in the audience could see him. It was awesome. Then our eyes were racing across the stage as the string section; Cameron Liddell, Sam Bettley and Ben Bruce deliver their spectacular stage presence.  Front and center is the amazing Danny Worsnop as he captivates and controls the crowd with his every move.  His vocals were spot on for the evening and had everyone singing along. It was really one of the best times I have seen Asking Alexandria, considering we have seen them about 7 times. They just seem to get better and better and never disappoint.

It was great to see Cameron play his CLM1 Signature Ibanez, Sam on his Schecter Sam Bettley Stiletto Bass and Ben on his BBM1 Ibanez Signature, especially after checking out the guitars back in January at the NAMM Convention. The sound was wickedly heavy and you could hear it from front to back as the walls were being torn down through the sound! It was an intense octane fueled set and everyone left fully amped!  I know we couldn’t stop talking about it as we trekked home on our 3 hour drive, playing the setlist in it’s entirety on our CDs.

Check out the bad ass photos from Rockin Ryan of their set and stay tuned for more news on Asking Alexandria.

Ok… so now I am really bummed about not making out to the 3 Day Camp Freddy Residency at The Roxy in Hollywood.  First I told you yesterday about Austin Winkler (formerly of Hinder) joined them on stage as he sang Born To Be Wild. (Read post here). Well, last night, I missed catching our featured guitarist Day 1 (Read Day 1 here), Jeff George of Harlot and his bandmate Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria) join Camp Freddy.  Guess what song they played? Poison Nothing But a Good Time which is so perfect since in our interview with Jeff earlier this year we asked  him to pick a song from the ’80s to be his anthem or theme song and  he chose… Poison Nothin But A Good Time.  You can check out Jeff and Danny here performing a cover of Poison’s Nothing But a Good Time here:

It was a wild night that included many special guests including Moby, Donovan,  Courtney Love, Billy Ray Cyrus , Moby, Slash and more!  Danny came out and sang three songs, “Nothing But a Good Time”, “Any Way You Want It”, and “School’s Out”.  At the end, everyone came up and joined in to play a cover of Guns N Roses “Paradise City”.  Check out the video for final jam of  Paradise City

We will continue to keep you updated on Jeff George and more Harlot news to come. In case you missed it check out our past interviews with Jeff George:

Jeff Geroge talks about Harlot, Bach and Nothing But a Good Time for 2013.

Day 1 Of Guitarists is Jeff George (Jeff also tells us about his current guitar rig rundown)

Holiday Q & A Special, Part 1 (Jeff talks about  his Holiday traditions, oddest gift and more!)

So get ready to be hearing a lot more from Jeff George and Harlot this coming year. Hold on tight, he is about to take you on a wild rock n roll ride!!  Make sure to visit Harlot‘s social media sites so you can stay up to date on all their upcoming news.
