We brought you our coverage of Asking Alexandria as they made a stop in San Francisco for The Moving On Tour. Now, we can’t wait to tell you about the opening band out on the tour, The Family Ruin. We have been featuring this amazing rock band from the UK all year long. We brought you our review of their kick ass album, Dearly Departed which was released in September and we couldn’t wait to finally catch them perform live.

One thing is for sure, they delivered an amazing kick ass set at the Regency Ballroom. I love it when a band that I really enjoy listening to can match the same intensity of their music as they do live on stage. This is one band that definitely has no problem conquering that battle. They blew me away and had me eagerly wanting to see them again soon! Check out more photos of their set by our Rockin Ryan:

From the moment they hit the stage and until they walked off to greet fans at their merch booth, they captivated the crowd with their high energy rock. To get to see them perform live my favorites from their album like Let’s Go, Let It Burn, and Bring Out Your Dead. The crowd quickly fell in love with them and you know that many concert goers left with The Family Ruin being their new favorite band!

Davenport Cabinet which first began as a solo project of Coheed and Cambria guitarist, Travis Stever has grown into a full band endeavor. With the release of their third album, Damned Renegades they have been gaining a lot of well deserved high praises. The album was released on Equal Vision Records and is available through MerchNOW and digital retailers such as iTunes,Amazon and more. Davenport Cabinet have released a lyric video for their song, Aneris off the album. Check it out here:

The album takes you on an amazing musical journey and Stever reveals about the album, “Damned Renegades is a very personal record, lyrically and sonically. My relationship with the album was much like that of a mad scientist and his experiment. While writing it, I was anxiously awaiting becoming a new father and focused all of that excitement and energy into the music. As much as I wanted to just center on preparing for the birth, I felt that I needed to record the music we were creating first. The rest of the Davenport guys very willingly came along with me for the ride, adding in their own music styles and flavors all over the record. The record stretches all over musically, showcasing the diversity that lies within the Cabinet.”

Stever adds, “Damned Renegades finds Davenport Cabinet exactly where I have always wanted it musically. With Tyler, Tom, and Mike, I was able to achieve the full band sound and group interaction I’ve always wanted with the project. I couldn’t be more proud of this record.” It really is a beautiful musical gem of alternative, classic and indie rock that you have to check out.

Davenport Cabinet have announced a couple upcoming shows:

  • Nov 26 Warwick, NY @ Tuscan Café
  • Nov 29 Blairstown, NJ @ Historic Blairstown Theatre

The Bad Suns from Southern California just released their new video for their song, Salt. It is an amazingly powerful and impressive video. The song has a great uptempo uplifting vibe and yet carries such depth through the dark lyrics. The video truly brings those lyrics to life as it takes you on a tumultuous journey through a young transgender eyes as he struggles with gender identity. It is such a great video that I absolutely love! Check it out here:

The song is off their debut album, Language and Perspective which was released earlier this year. You can head over to iTunes here and pick it up. Bad Suns will soon be announcing dates for their headline tour of 2015 and I can’t wait to see them again. greek

When is the last time you heard a song that really left you with chills or a feel good feeling deep in your soul leaving you with butterflies in your stomach and hope in your heart? Well, I do because I remember the first time I heard Top of the World from Greek Fire, that is exactly how I felt.  It was amazing and still is every time I hear it. The song is on their Lost EP which was released earlier this year but it has been gaining in popularity as it is currently featured in Disney’s Big Heroes 6 film. Check out the song in the Disney trailer here:

I know my seven year old has been begging me to take him to see the movie and I can’t wait! I am so glad to see Greek Fire get the attention they so well deserve. The track not only soaring guitars, emotionally driven lyrics but a chorus that makes you feel invincible. Having the track picked up by Disney has not only put the spotlight on this great band, but the song is one that will lift the hearts of many. It is truly a beautiful song that bridges a connection to listener.

‘Formed in 2008, Greek Fire is most known for consisting of members from Story of the Year(Philip Sneed better known as “Moon” on vocals and Ryan Phillips on guitar) and Maybe Today,(Johnny Venus on drums and Mark Joseph Roth on bass).  In 2012, the band, their families and fans were devastated with their Johnny Venus’ leukemia diagnosis and thankfully he is currently in remission, making their current success that much sweeter for the team.’

Check out the official music video of the song from Greek Fire which I absolutely love, here:

‘This December, Greek Fire will play three shows with Story of the Year and The F!*K Off and Dies. The string of shows is appropriately titled, “Family Night” as all three bands feature members of Story of the Year. This is the first time all three bands have played together. ‘ Dates are listed below:

  • 12/3-  Columbia, MO – The Blue Note
  • 12/4- Chicago, IL- The Bottom Lounge
  • 12/5- St. Louis, MO- The Pageant

The crowd went wild at the Fillmore and even more so when they performed their hit, Reverse which is a love story gone wrong – written chronologically backwards.  “I don’t think anyone’s ever written a song backwards before,” Jordy explains about writing Reverse. “It was the first song we wrote together as a band, the night we met; that was the song we wrote and we didn’t even know each other. We met in the bar writing that song. It kind of set the tone for us. Before we even thought of putting out a single or doing anything…that was our song.” Each member stands out on the stage with their magnetic personalities exhibiting captivating stage presence. For an opening band, you could not have asked for anything more as they really pumped up the crowd and started the night off right.  We had the chance to interview them before their set and are going to be bringing that to you later this week. Sunday night in San Francisco was an awesome one. While many were watching the SF Giants shut out the Kansas City Royals in game 5 of the World Series, we were excited to be at the Termintour at the Above DNA Lounge. We were blown away by The Rabid Whole and you can read more about them here.  But the magic of the music didn’t end there, Cyanotic came out and completely dominated the DNA as they unleashed their angry robot noises to the crowd. It was fierce and their style of music can be described as part electronic rock blended with punk angst vocals and sprinkled with aggressive metal. Just the right recipe to create the most intense music that will satisfy your need for ear porn! Cyanotic still stands to be one of the most innovative bands to blend genres together and form their own signature sound. Their music have inspired so many to follow suit and create their own fusion of music.

The powerful vocals of Sean have the right balance of punk angst and an air of rage that just seizes you and captures your full attention. Chris comes out and is amazing on stage, it is as if he is possessed by the guitar gods! He is completely “in the zone” as his blazing out riffs and stomping on stage, he can stop you dead in your tracks with his eyes! Jordan is the electronic genius as he is holding everything together with synths and samples while still displaying an energetic stage presence. Cyanotic is definitely part man/part machine and you too must hear their angry robot noises. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

Cyanotic is:

  • Sean Payne: Vocals, Samples, Drums
  • Chris Hryniewieck: Guitars
  • Jordan Davis: Synths, Samples, Drums
