We caught Crobot when they made a stop in San Francisco at the DNA Lounge. Check out our interview with them from their last visit to SF.

In addition to their new tour dates they have released their new album, Something Supernatural  through Wind Up Records. They once again worked with the producer Machine (Clutch, Lamb of God, Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes) at his Machine Shop studios, whom also worked with them on their self titled EP.

I hope you get a chance to see them perform live. These guys have such a refreshing new sound infused with a Dirty Groove Rock. They are like no other band out there today. Crobot is bringing the life back into classic rock/ stoner rock  with a double dose of groove in a modern style. Think like Zep ala Soundgarden with a side of Wolfmother. Pick up their new album and get hooked on your new favorite band!

Here is  a tribute video that Rockin Ryan put together with footage of their San Francisco set:

Congratulations are in order for Volbeat as “A Warrior’s Call” from BEYOND HELL / ABOVE HEAVEN (2010) has been certified gold for sales of 500,000 units by the RIAA.  Volbeat singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen shares, “Jon, Anders, Rob and I are very proud of this acknowledgement.  The fact that each and every sale is a gesture made by the fans that fill the venues, buy our records, and support rock music, this is truly meaningful.  Thank you to each and every one of you.  We share this moment with all of those that work on our behalf to support Volbeat globally, and with the fans who know Rock music is alive and well.”

Republic Co-Founder and C.E.O. Monte Lipman states, “Volbeat has fought hard to become one of the most important rock bands today.  Their drive, determination, and amazing talent, continues to inspire us every day.  We are thrilled with their success and congratulate them on this historic achievement.”
Volbeat is currently touring The United States on a co-headline run of arenas with Five Finger Death Punch.  A full itinerary can be found here: www.volbeat.dk.  The Danish quartet received their first GRAMMY nomination in the “Best Metal Performance” category for “Room 24” (Volbeat Featuring King Diamond) from OUTLAW GENTLEMEN & SHADY LADIES, and won Germany’s Echo Award for “Best International Alternative Act.”  The band’s repertoire has become a staple at Active Rock radio cementing their  relevance with eight Top 5 singles, five of which reached the pinnacle of  #1.   Overseas, OUTLAW GENTLEMEN & SHADY LADIES has been certified platinum in their home country of Denmark, alongside Germany and Austria, with gold sales in Finland.

Just this past week Volbeat won the Germany’s Echo Award for “Best International Alternative Act, beating out 30 Seconds To Mars, Placebo, Imagine Dragons, and Black Sabbath. The award is well deserved and they have received a lot of great success with their latest album, Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies which is one of my favorites.

This tour is the fourth North American visit for Volbeat and I hope you get to check them out live. They were amazing last year as they performed at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento.  Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news. I will leave you with a tribute video that Rockin Ryan made with footage and photos of their set at Aftershock.

Aftershock Festival was amazing with over 30+ bands in the two days and over 35,000 attendees. Many of those fans were there to see the amazing show that Volbeat put on. I have seen Volbeat five times but this was the first time that I got to see Rob Caggiano play with them. It was an awesome set and they sounded so spot on!

They played my favorites Fallen, A Warrior’s Call and my new favorite, Lola Montez. I just love that song soooo much. Check out the video that Rockin Ryan made of “A Warrior’s Call” set to footage and photos from their Aftershock set.

One thing is for sure, when Volbeat performs, you really feel the energy from the crowd as well as the band. They create such an intensity that you just can’t help but be drawn to them. It was great to see people who had never seen them before, enjoy the show and called it one of their Festival highlights!

Make sure you have your copy of “Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies” which is available everywhere. Visit their social media sites!

BIG NEWS!!! One of my favorite bands just got even better, if you can imagine that! Danish hard rock/metal band, Volbeat just announced that Rob Caggiano of Anthrax and The Damned Things fame has joined Volbeat as their second guitarist. Rob delivers awesome heavy metal guitar and it will be incredible to see what he brings to Volbeat. Volbeat’s sound resonates sounds from punk to rockabilly wrapped in hard rock energy.

Volbeat announced the news as they were also announcing the much anticipated release date of their upcoming studio album, “Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies” on April 8th, 2013. It will be released in the USA on April 9th so make sure to mark your calendars and get your copy.  Rob Caggiano produced this new album alongside longtime production partner Jacob Hansen.

Direct from the Volbeat website:

“The band is very proud and happy to announce that he will also be the new guitar player in Volbeat. The collaboration with Rob in the studio was so inspiring and in good spirit that we the decided to keep him. Basically we went into the studio as a three piece and came out as a whole band!”

You can read more from Volbeat website and hear from Rob about the chain of events that led to his addition to the band. Rob Caggiano:

“Wow! I have to say I’m completely blown away by the turn of events over the last few weeks here in Denmark and at this point an update is definitely in order. To start with, I came to Denmark about a month ago to produce the new Volbeat record which in and of itself has been an incredibly exciting adventure from a producer’s perspective thus far. However, I’m extremely happy to say my relationship with these guys will not end there as it turns out……it’s just beginning! Michael had asked me on the phone before I got out here if I would play some guest solos on the new album in addition to my other duties and of course I was thrilled about that and agreed to do so. When I actually got to Denmark and started going through the material, this turned out to be so much more than that. After weeks of collaboration between Michael and I it became quite clear that we had an amazing creative chemistry together and a huge mutual respect for one another. It’s so refreshing and inspiring to be creative again on a songwriting level that words can’t even describe it and the vibe between Anders, Jon, Michael and I is just awesome. I’d say an artistic relationship like this one is very rare and it’s also something I don’t take for granted. When the guys asked me if I was interested in joining Volbeat the other day, my jaw just about hit the floor! It actually didn’t even register in my brain properly until the next morning but I gotta say, it also didn’t take me long to decide. It really isn’t the way I envisioned the rest of my year to play out but at the same time, THIS feels more “right” to me than anything I could have possibly imagined and I’m going for it! To all my fans, family, friends and overall supporters that have reached out to me over this last month wondering if I’m ever gonna play guitar again or what I’m up to in general etc……..See you all soon my friends and get ready for a wild ride!!!”

Well, Rob welcome to the band and we look forward to seeing you out on the road with Volbeat! I leave you with the video which we took at the Regency Ballroom San Francisco show on July 8th, 2012. First is my favorite song, “Warriors Call” and ‘Still Counting” and then their new song, “Another Day, Another Way” which I love!

~ Enjoy and keep rockin it LOUD,  Marisol
