Crash Midnight may not be a household name YET! Brace yourselves…It’s coming! Their name will be on the tip of your tongue very soon. The band aptly got it’s name in true rock ‘n roll fashion. Front man Shaun Soho got a late night call from his brother Bo telling him he had a great name for a band, Crash Midnight. Followed by him asking for a late night ride since he had just wrecked his car. This five piece band hails from Boston & have been together for 10 years. They are a monster lab creation of combining the sounds of Axl Rose, Mick Jagger, & New York Dolls. A little blues, a little punk, & a LOT of real old school Rock ‘N Roll! I had the pleasure of catching their show at the Newport in Columbus, OH.

The band’s debut album “Lost In The City” is just around the corner with a release date of November 18th. It was pushed back until they are finished touring with Adelita’s Way & The Pretty Reckless. They wanted to be home in Boston for the release party. After meeting these guys I think they would change their wedding date if it meant they would miss a good party! New England has had theses guys hidden & kept all to themselves for many years. They have had years of writing songs and testing them on audiences. This CD may be their debut but, the material has been pre-tested & pre-approved. Instead of this being a cd full of new songs with a couple singles, they are going to struggle with choosing singles. After seeing them live I know that they have 10 years of music ready to rock faces off. These guys came to record with an arsenal of “greatest hits” that have already been tested on fans at every gig they have ever played.

Crash Midnight is already gaining fans with their 1st single “151”. Their early days play included Bacardi 151 & when money was tight Roberto 151. They seem to have traveled time & are a true partying rock & roll band of the late 1970’s. If you are a guitar lover, this band is a dream. “City Girl” offers Alex Donaldson THREE guitar solos. They have finished recording the video to “Take It” in NYC. “Welcome to Boston” has been used by the New England Patriots,The Boston Bruins, & Boston College. They are against the over worked computerized sounds of over edited auto tuned songs. I look forward to the release & am excited to hear “pure rock ‘n roll” again.

Songs are marinated in high yet smooth honey dripping lyrics & supported with sick ripping & shredding. Shaun has a priceless sought after gift of being able to support his high register effortlessly while maintaining a high level of energy on stage. He told me that he had wore out the band Bostons debut album. The late Brad Delps upper register could soar with the likes of Nancy Wilson. They did a cover of G&R’s “Mr. Brownstone” that was amazing. Crash Midnight plays off one another on stage & their energy sucks you in, wanting more.

The band is also very proud of a side project of Tony Pizzo resident guitarists & his baby “TARDUS1”. He has gutted a 1978 motor home & has configured it to run on clean energy. He’s part mad scientist part MacGuyver! He’s buying parts from Home Depot, converting salt water, separating Hydrogen from Oxygen,& end game running off it off hydrogen. Dream & imagination resulting in a mean green touring machine. His work has been backed by fan donations. There is more information about the Green Energy Tour Bus & at CrashMidnight.com

I am a huge 70’s rock fan, love acoustic, & was crushed at the end of the hair band era. I love the no makeup, no auto tune, pure old school rock & roll. Crash Midnight was a huge score to see & they checked off everything on my list that I love about rock music. I was so pumped & excited after their set. They left with me wanting more. I ended up meeting up with Shaun & Alex after the show. At first we tried to talk at their merch table but could barely hear one another. We were determined for us to talk.

I followed them to several locations searching for a quiet spot. We finally found ourselves in a tiny production room that had a computer desk, washer, & dryer. They had announced that Alex was from Columbus earlier. I asked him about growing up in Columbus & he laughed as he told me he went to school with Lil Bow Wow. It turns out that he grew up 2 streets from my house. Small world. Shaun had found a seat on top of the washer. I still have no clue why there is a washer & dryer in the production room. All of a sudden it made noise & startled Shaun. Alex is very quick witted & called him Shaun “Spin Cycle” Soho. Shaun had recently had an allergic reaction to clams(all obvious jokes that were told were sworn into secrecy). Boston is known for their seafood & accents. I was shocked that I had more of an accent than Shaun did. I had such a good time talking to these guys after an absolutely amazing show.

Crash Midnight loves to laugh, party with 151, & have a good time but they are ready to prove themselves worthy on a larger scale. They are starting this album with having a large fan base while quickly securing new fans in each town they crash into. Be sure to grab their debut/greatest hits cd “Lost In The City” on November 18th. This band is about to fill a niche we have been missing since the 90’s. Proof that real rock is NOT dead! The name Crash Midnight might be new on your tongue but their sound will make you thirst for more & more is what they intend to give!

Boston rockers, Crash Midnight have announced the tour dates this fall as they will be heading out with Adelita’s Way on the headlining tour of The Pretty Reckless. Crash Midnight are set to release their new album Lost In The City on November 18th through Bronx Bridge Entertainment/Universal. The album delivers straight up rock and roll with wild riffs and rockin vocals that will unleash your wild side and leave you craving more of Crash Midnight.

The album’s first single started off as a tongue in cheek track, 151 about the notorious high proof alcohol. Vocalist, Shaun Soho, comments on the song, “It was originally kind of a tongue in cheek party song that ended up taking on a life of its own and becoming one of our most requested songs live so we ended up going back and putting a lot of work into making it into a real song.”

Adelita’s Way put on a hell of a show yesterday at Rock on The Range. They definitely have the power to drive an entire festival crazy! They really put on an incredible set and even singer Rick took a ride crowd surfing during their set.

They have also just announced the official date of July 29th for the release date of their new album, StuckTo create the album, the Las Vegas-based quartet joined forces with the Grammy-winning Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, and Queens of the Stone Age) and holed up for eight weeks of nonstop recording in a cabin deep in the woods outside Nashville. Stuck is now available for pre-order on iTunes HERE.  Exclusives bundles are now available for fans on www.adelitaswaymusic.com and include several instant downloads and collectables.

The first single off the album, Dog on a Leash, has been getting a lot of attention. It is a fierce new rock track that definitely shows how much this band has grown and is soon becoming everyone’s favorite new song. You can check outt the song by watching their video for it here:

We just received the news that The Pretty Reckless has pulled out of the SnoCore Tour which was set to start on January 29th in Lincoln, NE.  The Pretty Reckless was to headline the SnoCore Tour. They have announced that due to vocalist Taylor Momsen illness, they will be cancelling their appearance on the tour. Taylor has been confirmed to have acute laryngitis and walking pneumonia and has been placed on vocal rest.

The Pretty Reckless had quite a year with touring last year in pre-support of their new album Going To Hell which is set to release everywhere on March 17/18th, 2014! You can pre-order the album on their site: www.goingtohell.me/hell.

Touring can definitely take a lot out on you. Singer Taylor Momsen once was quoted about touring,“For me, there’s nothing better than playing a show every night. You can call it a job, I just call it a really long commute.”  We wish Taylor a speedy and full recovery and hope to catch them out on the road when she is fully recovered and ready to take over her position as Rock Goddess for 2014!

We are in the # 4 spot on our Countdown of Bands that will rule in 2014 and the honor goes to The Pretty Reckless.  They are on fire right now and their highly anticipated full length album, “Going To Hell”  hasn’t even been released. They have had great success this year with a couple of their singles off their new album and had a successful Going To Hell fall tour so far.

We had the opportunity to catch them on their Going To Hell tour when they stopped in San Francisco at Slim’s.  One thing is for sure The Pretty Reckless has amazing stage presence and their songs are so damn good. Taylor Momsen has stated in the past that her musical influences are Kurt Cobain and Joan Jett and that is exactly what you get with her! She has this amazing grunge style with this rockin attitude and knows how to work the crowd.  Ben Phillips on lead guitar and backing vocals was spot on and had some incredible guitar licks and cool slide. Mark Damon on the bass took control of the left side of the stage as he plucked out solid bass lines without ever losing his shades, he is a cool cat. Jamie Perkins delivered such precision drumming it was as if you were listening to the original drum tracks, insane! Then you go back to center stage and Taylor has you mesmerized with her charismatic energy. She really has a magnetic personality and you can’t help but fall in love with her voice!  You can read more about that night here. You can check out a tribute video that Rockin Ryan put together which features footage and photos from their San Francisco show here:

Well, there is no letting up for The Pretty Reckless. Singer Taylor Momsen once was quoted about touring,“For me, there’s nothing better than playing a show every night. You can call it a job, I just call it a really long commute.”  They definitely have a list of long commutes coming ahead. They recently announced they will be touring for Fall Out Boys’ Save Rock and Roll European Tour 2014 as well as the 2014 SnoCore Festival which features another of our faves, Heaven’s Basement.

This year they released, two great singles (available on Itunes). First was their title track of their upcoming album, Going to Hell and it had the music scene immediately take notice. Their strong fan base quickly fell in love with it, but also they gained a ton of new fans, when people really began to take notice of their well crafted music and how it has developed.  You can check out the single here:

The next single, Heaven Knows just blew me away when I first heard it. DAMN this song is AMAZING!  It has an old school rock circa Joan Jett/Runaways vibe and the catchiest sing along part on the air today.Taylor has truly proven to be a Rock Goddess that is on top of the charts these days.Make sure to head over to Itunes and pick it up today.

We will be be heading down to Southern California to catch their shows. The Pretty Reckless put on one of the most amazing shows, they are on fire from start to finish and you just can’t help but ROCK OUT!  So make sure to head over to their website and check all the dates and don’t miss them. Next year, if you can imagine will be an even bigger year yet for The Pretty Reckless.

I just got back from running errands and I had a very special treat! I had the opportunity to listen to the new song by The Pretty Reckless, “Heaven Knows”. They debuted the song this morning on Sirius XM Octane channel (funny since I cancelled by XM last month because they cancelled Sixx Sense channel and I still get it free for the next month). DAMN this song is AMAZING!  It has an old school rock circa Joan Jett/Runaways vibe and the catchiest sing along part on the air today. The song will become available for purchase on Itunes on Tuesday November 19th!

Taylor has truly proven to be a Rock Goddess that is on top of the charts these days. The song comes off their upcoming album, Going To Hell which is scheduled for a 2014 release date.  The Pretty Reckless released a video for their first song off the album, “Going To Hell” and that is a badass song. You can actually download “Going To Hell” on Itunes now here.  Check out the video here:

In October we caught The Pretty Reckless in San Francisco on their Going To Hell Tour and it was spectacular. One thing is for sure The Pretty Reckless has amazing stage presence and their songs are so damn good. I was immediately drawn in and excited to watch  more. Taylor Momsen has stated in the past that her musical influences are Kurt Cobain and Joan Jett and that is exactly what you get with her! She has this amazing grunge style with this rockin attitude and knows how to work the crowd. From start to finish, I was highly impressed with this band. You can read more from our original post here.

Just only a week ago, I was at Slim’s in San Francisco and enjoying the incredible, Russian, British and American band lineup that comprised of Louna, Heaven’s Basement and The Pretty Reckless. You can read our reviews of Louna and Heaven’s Basement here. It was quite a night as these three very different bands came together and gave an amazing show that had the crowd continuously rockin out all night.

This was the first time I saw The Pretty Reckless although I did get to enjoy Taylor Momsen as she joined Marilyn Manson on stage for the 2012 Revolver Golden Gods Awards.  I have the footage in the Links below.
