We have been telling you about all the great sets at the first ever That Metal Show concert which was held at Thunder Valley Resort in Lincoln, CA last Friday. It was great seeing the hosts of VH1’s That Metal Show as they introduced all the great bands. Make sure to check out our coverage of Living Colour and  Anthrax too.  But now, let us tell you about the great eclectic set that Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) delivered.

Corey played a little bit of everything during his acoustic set. First, I have to tell you about the blazing heat as it was well over 100 degrees and I can only imagine how hot it was on that stage. I have to give a big kudos to all the great bands as they put on spectacular performances. Corey was there in the heat and he gave his 125% as always treating the crowd to his captivating vocals. He played some Stone Sour, cover songs, even a Slipknot song!

Check out the photos of Corey from his set at Thunder Valley by our Rockin Ryan:

It was great to see Corey make it out to the event since he has been quite busy between Stone Sour and the new Slipknot album as well as his great work as an author. He is definitely a Renaissance Man. Make sure to visit his social media sites and stay up to date on his latest news of all things Corey! I will leave you with a couple videos from Corey’s set at Thunder Valley.

Friday night we made it up to Lincoln, CA to cover the first ever That Metal Show concert featuring Burn Halo, Corey Taylor, Living Colour and Anthrax. It was a night that was sure to promise a full evening of kick ass metal under the baking sun. With the temperatures rising well over a 100, we tried to stay cool as the glamour boys of Living Colour took to the stage. It was so awesome to see them live. It has been well over 20 years since I had last seen them perform and they had me feeling like a spunky 20 year old again. Watching these Grammy Award winning rockers from New York take the stage, you are just captivated by their sound.

The crowd were just as excited as we were and the energy from Living Colour spilled into the crowd and raised the heat once again. The heavy metal/hard rock jazz/funk infused music of Living Colour is something so unique that I couldn’t name a band today who does it as well as these guys do. They are truly pioneers with their music and they delivered a spectacular set that everyone enjoyed. I could have enjoyed a longer set but I know the Thunder Valley Resort has strict time constraints. Of course they played the crowd favorites of Glamour Boys and check out a video of them performing the finale of Cult of Personality.

It was really one of my favorite concerts this year and Corey Glover was right where he belonged; once again in the spotlight on center stage.

We made it Friday night to the 1st ever That Metal Show concert which was held at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, CA. The lineup included local favorite Burn Halo, Corey Taylor, Living Colour and Anthrax along with the hosts of That Metal Show; Don Jamieson, Eddie Trunk and Jim Florentine.

We left early to make sure we had lots of time to hang out and get ready for a blazing night of metal. Well, after two accidents and road closures, what was to be a 2 hour ride doubled to 4. We arrived in time to hear the last two songs of Burn Halo which we were really looking forward to. We look forward to catch them at Aftershock in September. Corey Taylor did a great acoustic set and Living Colour got the crowd revved up and ready for more.

The heat was blazing at well over a 100 deg and then it really kicked up the heat when Anthrax took to the stage. One thing is certain when you go to an Anthrax show, your energy is at full throttle and you have metal running through your veins. The venue had seating from front to back but that didn’t stop from the crowd making their own fierce moshing in the aisles. It was intense and they sounded spot on, especially for an outdoor concert. The crowd had a wide range of ages, from the metal youngsters to the seniors, everyone was headbanging and had their horns in the air!

It had me excited and already asking about when is the next Anthrax concert!! Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news.

Dee shares his thoughts on Led Zeppelin albums during the Rank segment and of course shares some his answers on the “Put It On The Table” segment. This week’s episode airs on the 59th birthday of Dee Snider.  I have a great way for you to celebrate Dee’s birthday, how about cooking up a batch of our Dee Snider Sliders complete with Dee’s infamous curly hair via our French Fried Onions. We featured the recipe last year during our Revolver Golden Gods Awards coverage.  Recipe is listed below.

So make sure to set your DVRs and don’t miss any episodes of That Metal Show!  Here is our recipe for Dee’s Snider Sliders.

~ Marisol

Dee Snider Sliders with signature Dee hair via French Fried Onions!

These sliders pack a punch and are full of flavor, just like Dee and his larger than life personality! Makes 24 sliders

Items Needed:

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 24 dinner rolls or slider rolls
  • Cheese ( we used Muenster but you can use any sliced cheese to your taste)
  • 3 tablespoons barbecue sauce
  • 1 large red onion, peeled and very thinly sliced ( we used a mandolin slicer)
  • 1 1/2 cups lowfat buttermilk (can also substitute with lowfat milk)
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • canola oil for frying

1. Preheat oven to 350°. Cover a baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray.

2. Mix together ground beef. You don’t need to season the burger since you have the onions and barbecue sauce. If you like, you can still add salt and pepper.  Form ground beef into slider side and make 24 sliders.

3. Cook at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes until browned on the outside. You can cook to your degree of wellness required.

While sliders are cooking, you can prepare the Dee Snider French Fried Onion hair.

4. Preheat oil in a deep pot or a fryer at 350°.

5. Add onions and buttermilk to a large bowl and toss until mixed and fully coated.

6. In a second bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.

7. In small batches take coated onions and dredge them through the seasoned flour mixture, shaking to remove excess, and fry for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 minutes on each side (or until golden.)

8. Place onions on a paper towel lined platter and sprinkle with a tiny bit of salt.

9. Repeat until all onions are golden and crispy.

10. Prior to taking sliders out spread  a small amount of barbecue sauce on top and place a slice of cheese to melt.

11. Place slider on bun or dinner roll and top with a bunch of crispy onions and have them hanging out the front like Dee’s famous hair!

12. Place sliders on a platter and Enjoy!

Eddie has been one of my true idols, when it comes to his love for his music and the passion to share it with everyone.  Eddie has had quite a successful career in broadcasting with his Eddie Trunk Rocks, Eddie Trunk Rocks, etc.  It was great when he finally stepped in front of the camera for VH1 Classics That Metal Show in 2002.
