Last month we caught Truckfighters perform at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. They put on one of the most energetic, fantastic and entertaining performances I have seen in a long time. These Swedish ROCKERS know how to put on a show!! If you missed them, don’t worry they are coming back to the US for another tour starting in May. Make sure to catch them live, here are the tour dates:

When I first saw Truckfighters, the singer reminded me of Kurt Cobain, the guitarist reminded me of Angus Young and the drummer remind me of Tre Cool.  It was like I was watching a supergroup as these charismatic and intense musicians gave it a 150% and rocked the crowd from start to finish. You can check out a tribute video that Rockin Ryan made from footage of their set at the DNA Lounge. Then I am sure, you won’t want to miss them!! Also be sure to head over to Itunes and pick up their latest album Universe.

Here we are on our first Tuesday Travels Pick of the Week for 2014!!!! Let’s start it off with an awesome alternative style metal band, BatAAr from Gothenburg, Sweden.  They truly have a unique sound that blends everything from metal to punk, electronic to deathcore.  They call their style “Art Metal” and it definitely will grab you and have you wanting to hear more.

BatAAr just finished up their first ever Japan tour and it was quite successful. They definitely gained tons of new fans and we can’t wait for them to announce new tour dates…. hoping for some US dates soon.  BatAAr is Seb on Vocals, Patrik on Guitar, Simon on Guitar, Jake on Bass and Tobias on Drums.

Check out their video for my favorite song of theirs, The Distance which can be purchases on Itunes here.

I love that song! It not only KICKS ASS but it is very well written with some very emotionally driven lyrics:

Even though the sky is shared by all,
you’re past my horizon
I can’t put into words
How this tears me apart

The distance between us
Is too much to bear and I can’t stand just being alone
The distance between us
Takes over and leaves me breathless as I feel lost again

BatAAr is also in the running to play the Sweden Rock Festival 2014, so if you have a chance, head over here and cast your vote for them!

So make sure to check out this great band from Sweden that deserves your attention! Visit their social media sites and stay up to date on the latest BatAAr news.  I am sure you will be hearing a lot more from this band here in 2014.

The Sounds

This week our Tuesdays Travels pick takes us to Malmo, Sweden. Sweden; the home of IKEA, ABBA and Absolut Vodka. Now we have one more thing to thank Sweden for, the incredible new wave infused rock by The Sounds.  Their music is described as indie rock/new wave but I think they can’t be categorized since they have a sound all on their own. The female fronted vocalist, Maja Ivarsson reminds me of a mix of Terri Nunn and Debbie Harry.  Their songs are energetic and fun and will have you moving and enjoying life within seconds of listening.

The Sounds is Maja Ivarsson on Vocals, Felix Rodriguez on Guitars/Vocals, Johan Bengtsson on Bass,
Jesper Anderberg on Keys/Guitar/Vocals and Fredrik Blond on Drums.

The Sounds recently released their album, “Weekend” on October 29th, 2013 and it is spectacular. They have described this album as a bit of a rebirth of the band.  Jesper Anderberg, keyboardist/guitarist explains, “Weekend is more of a back to basics album, I was primarily looking for a groove when I started writing this album – a groove based on five members who have been playing music together for a long time. We weren’t looking to over think the song writing, and especially wanted to make it sound like we just hit the switch on the amps and just started playing the songs.”  The album is great, a couple of my favorites are Take it the Wrong Way, Weekend, Outlaw, and the very fun Young and Wild reminds me of my love for the 90’s music. They have succeeded in taking ’90s inspired music and breathed a fresh new life to it and I am hooked! You can pick up your copy of “Weekend” on Itunes or Amazon.

You can check out their lyric video for their single, Weekend here:

The Sounds are busy touring in Europe and we hope they return back here to the States soon. Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their tour info, details and latest news.

Let’s take a trip to Sweden for our Tuesday Travels. When you think of Sweden you may think of Swedish Meatballs, Ikea furniture, Swedish Fish  and even CrashDiet for your Rock n Roll which KICK ASS! Now I have a new band to introduce you to. Is The Last Band and they are delivering “High Class, White Trash, Steamroller Rock”. Started in 2011 and rapidly growing, in 2012 they put out their EP “Mean Machine”. They continued to rock the venues and recently they played the Sweden Rock Festival and had everyone fall in love with them.

Who is The Last Band? You have Chris Blood on Vocals/Guitar, Nick Young on Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals, Johan “Jack Hammer” on  Drums and Dennis “Pumping Iron” Andersson on Bass/Backing Vocals. They have a sound that not only brings some 80’s rock and roll blended with some metal aspects, but even some Brian Johnson of AC/DC especially on Like I Even Care.  They have an energy that is contagious and their stage presence shows that when they rock, they mean business in delivering you a 150% at all times! I love their song, “When the Devil Needs a Ride” and is available on Spotify or for download on Amazon. You can check out their video here:

Another great video to watch is The Last Band as they performed as the Sweden Rock Festival. They came out in their different colored Power Ranger costumes and ROCKED the show! Check it out here:

You can visit their social media sites and also check them out on Spotify. So crank it up loud and enjoy some The Last Band.
