We have been telling you about all the great sets at the first ever That Metal Show concert which was held at Thunder Valley Resort in Lincoln, CA last Friday. It was great seeing the hosts of VH1’s That Metal Show as they introduced all the great bands. Make sure to check out our coverage of Living Colour and  Anthrax too.  But now, let us tell you about the great eclectic set that Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) delivered.

Corey played a little bit of everything during his acoustic set. First, I have to tell you about the blazing heat as it was well over 100 degrees and I can only imagine how hot it was on that stage. I have to give a big kudos to all the great bands as they put on spectacular performances. Corey was there in the heat and he gave his 125% as always treating the crowd to his captivating vocals. He played some Stone Sour, cover songs, even a Slipknot song!

Check out the photos of Corey from his set at Thunder Valley by our Rockin Ryan:

It was great to see Corey make it out to the event since he has been quite busy between Stone Sour and the new Slipknot album as well as his great work as an author. He is definitely a Renaissance Man. Make sure to visit his social media sites and stay up to date on his latest news of all things Corey! I will leave you with a couple videos from Corey’s set at Thunder Valley.

Christian Martucci

Christian Martucci

I know I have told you before that I love Christian Martucci’s music.  I have my Ipod filled with great  songs from Christian’s past and they are some of my favorite songs. From “Nowhere Ride” by The Chelsea Smiles to “Last Fucking Hope” by Black President and to “Shine”, “Downsider” and “Lights Out” from “Thousand Watt Stare“. Not to mention Christian’s solo project, “Man Without a Name”. Christian is just purely awesome on guitar and vocals. He has such a great unique sound that just draws you in and energizes you.  He is like liquid adrenaline running through your veins.

Well, Stone Sour recently announced their upcoming tour which is set to start in January in Florida. They also made an announcement that due to the upcoming Slipknot album, guitarist Jim Root will not be heading out on tour with them.  We will miss Jim but guess who is coming in to play for the tour??? That is right, the ever so talented Christian Martucci. So Christian will be rejoining his old bandmate Roy Mayorga who was in Black President with him.

So make sure to check the tour dates on the Stone Sour website so you can catch them out on this upcoming tour.  Meanwhile, if you don’t already have it, head over Hardline Entertainment site to pick up Christian’s Thousand Watt Stare album Silver Dimes.   Christian says of the album,  I’ve been in a few bands over the years that were expected to sound a certain way and it just never made me happy, It’s all about feel…That’s the thing that makes this band special to us.  There are no rules.”  The album definitely brings a much more heavier dark edge to their punk influenced sound. You will love it!

Our List could go on and on with the highlights of the night but I thought we would have fun with the above awards.

My last thought for you has to do with respecting each other in the Metal community. David Draiman touched on this during his acceptance speech which he calls for unity amongst us all. I can’t stress that enough.  I feel that to boo a band at any time especially when they are accepting an award, is the poorest of taste and disRESPECTFUL. Come on people, we are starting to look like a bunch of 1Direction and Beiber fans who are hating on each other for their musical preferences.  I thought we have all grown by now. I lived through the 80’s, 90’s – the Metallica/Megadeth, Stones/Grateful Dead, Van Halen Pre-Hagar/No Hagar, NoDave, With Dave, No Michael,With Michael and it can go on and on.

Seriously, any love for music is a love that has to be respected. I am not on one artist’s side or another, I am just against hate of any type. During the Award show, there was some people sitting next to us who started to cheer for a band, and the person in front of them turned around and started yelling at them, being a complete BULLY! Later the person next to us didn’t cheer at all the rest of the night. Lost their own voice because some intimidated them.  It is time to be more open minded and respectful to eachother. We are all in this crazy world together so let’s make the best of it and listen to some music!

It is time that we show the world that Hard Rock and Metal is here to stay! We all know what the Grammy’s think of Hard Rock when they didn’t even air Halestorm winning and receiving the award for Hard Rock, Heavy Metal Performance. I have seen Halestorm 6 times and they are incredible live. The Oscars used to be fun to watch but I don’t think I have tuned in for about 10 years now.   So raise your fists and horns in the air and let’s show them how an award show is done!
