Earlier this week, we brought you our coverage from the kick ass SOiL concert as they made their stop in San Francisco at the DNA Lounge for the Born To Ride 2 Tour with (hed) p.e. One thing is for sure when SOiL performs, the energy is intense and you feel charged and ready to go.  This night was no different as SOiL came out in full force and ready to take control. There was non stop energy and the crowd was equally fired up.  We had the chance to chat with singer Ryan before his set and you can check out that interview here:

Their set was awesome and I had wished it went on for another hour!! One of the highlights was when vocalist Ryan McCombs came off the stage and into the audience to sing “Halo”. The crowd loved it and you can see that Ryan loved it just as much. It was definitely a night to remember for them. They also played my favorite song from their new album WHOLE, The Hate Song. I applaud SOiL in how they can achieve studio quality sound in a small venue like DNA Lounge. They were spot on and just sounded so good.

Check out Rockin Ryan’s photographs from their set here:

(Hed)P.E.’s forthcoming album “Evolution” is currently being mixed and is slated for a summer 2014 release on Pavement Entertainment. This is the follow up to 2010’s “Truth Rising”. According to vocalist Jahred, the album will be “Some of the heaviest material we have ever recorded”.  Their label mates, SOiL is currently supporting their new single “The Hate Song” which comes from the critically acclaimed new album “Whole”.

This is one tour that you don’t want to miss. We caught SOiL at the Aftershock Sacramento Festival last year and they were amazing as always. I can’t wait to see them perform their new single, “The Hate Song” which has some of my favorite lyrics in a song – “I wrote this love song to let you know I hate you” I have never seen (hed) P.E. but I have always wanted to. Their rasta punk infused metal signature sound has been one that I have been drawn to for a while.

So make sure to check the dates and come to a show. Maybe we will see you tonight in San Francisco!

SOiL

SOiL has recently released their sixth studio album, “Whole” and also marks the return of the band’s original singer, Ryan McCombs who sang with Drowning Pool for 5 years.  It is amazing when you check out this latest album. It has all the energy and intensity which is is the reason I first fell in love with SOiL many years ago!   You can pick up your copy here.

The album starts right off with hard rock edgy guitars in Loaded Gun and the adrenaline filled rock continues through each song. I love the bad ass bass lines in “Ugly” and you really appreciate the return of Ryan’s vocals in  “Way Gone“.

Another amazing song is “Shine On” which is dedicated to the SOiL fans for standing by the band throughout the years.  They currently have a video out for their single, “Shine On” and you can check it out here:

The album continues on with the intensity and delivering their classic original SOiL sounds as in Wake Up and Amagalmation. SOiL is definitely WHOLE again as you can just feel the cohesiveness in the band’s music.  Guitarist Adam Zadel explains, “This was by far the most comfortable and natural recording process we have ever experienced. From the writing, pre production, and through the main tracking and mixing, everything was smooth and fluid”  I think Adam sums it up perfectly!

My Time” has some heavy guitars and catchy chorus that keeps you captivated as you breath in the kick ass breakdown.  Little Liar has some great precision drumming and I love the ride  cymbal in it. It completely ROCKS!  They finish off the album with One Love that  is the perfect ending to this album. Incredible lyrics, intense vocals that grab you, smoking guitars, and climatic fadeout. Amazing work, gentlemen!!

SOiL will be performing this weekend at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento on Sunday, September 15th at 2:50 PM on the Ernie Ball Stage. You don’t want to miss this show!  We will see if we can bring you an interview so we can all catch up with SOiL.  If you haven’t yet, make sure to head over to Itunes and pick up your copy of WHOLE.  You can also check out the Upcoming Tour Dates listed below and get yourself to a SOiL show!
