New Years Day have just released their new 5 song EP titled EPIDEMIC. The EP was released yesterday and really displays the great musicianship of this band and how they have evolved through their sound. They really bring out the passion in their songs as well as when they perform live. This is a band that speaks volumes of truth in their music and give you a good dose of hard ROCK at the same time. Check out their newly released music video for Defame Me which is off their new EP.

We loved it when they came to Slim’s in San Francisco on the We Love Tour featuring Combichrist and William Control. They delivered a high energy intense set that had the crowd in awe. I think they set a record for crowd surfing during a set at Slim’s which rarely tolerates. It was probably the most energetic crowd that I have witnessed at their performances, full on mosh pit, crowd participation and infectious passion raging through the crowd. Check out the slideshow of photographs by our Rockin Ryan from their SF show:

We promised to bring you our interview with Kenny Vasoli from Vacationer and we are pleased to bring it to you here:

I would strongly encourage you to get out to a show and I promise you will have the time of your life. The chill vibe that Vacationer brings to the stage will have you thinking you are on a tropical island in the sun and simply enjoying the gift of life. In case you missed our review of their amazing set at Slim’s, here it is once again.

Monday night we made it down to San Francisco to catch Vacationer as they set to perform at Slim’s. The weekend was filled with SF Giant mania and Monday was a great night off for the World Series. One thing is for sure, Vacationer brought the chillest of vibes to San Francisco.  There is something about watching them perform where you are just whisked away to a tropical island, surrounded by friends, singing along and sharing the most relaxed, kick back atmosphere in a room full of friends. Whatever things are on your mind, worries or challenges you may be facing, the second you listen to Vacationer, they all just disappear and you can’t help but have a great time. It is an instant mood elevator and you feel like you are on one big vacation!

The venue was packed but that didn’t hinder anyone’s enjoyment as the crowd swayed to rhythm of the songs and everyone appeared to have an excellent time!  Check out the photos by our Rockin Ryan of the set:

Vacationer is a collaborative effort with vocalist/bassist Kenny Vasoli and his production partners Grant Wheeler and Matthew Young from the band Body Language. If you don’t already have it, I would strongly suggest to you to pick up their latest release,Relief which is an absolute much needed dose of fun, feel good music. Check out the video for one of my favorite songs from their album, The Wild Life.

This week was filled with great concerts and it was awesome to see New Year’s Day again as they came to Slim’s in San Francisco on Thursday night. They are on the We Love Tour featuring Combichrist and William Control. Once again they delivered a high energy intense set that had the crowd in awe. I think they set a record for crowd surfing during a set at Slim’s which rarely tolerates. It was probably the most energetic crowd that I have witnessed at their performances, full on mosh pit, crowd participation and infectious passion raging through the crowd.

As I told you the last time I saw them, they once again made lifelong fans with their set. That is what happens when you see them live, you can’t help but harness their energy and enjoy the show and join the New Years Day family! Jake Jones on the guitar is like a modern day Doyle as he stomps around feeding the masses with his energy. Nikki Misery reminds me of the charismatic Marilyn Manson and is a madman on his guitar. Nick Rossi on the drums displays impeccable precision drumming as he always stays on the beat and makes sure the crowd is off their feet. Anthony Barro on Bass unleashes his energy with the backing vocals, all while yielding his crunchy basslines. Then you have, front and center Ash Costello who is an amazing vocalist that has an infectious stage presence. All together New Years Day create the perfect intense set that is a MUST SEE!

I just got back from running errands and I had a very special treat! I had the opportunity to listen to the new song by The Pretty Reckless, “Heaven Knows”. They debuted the song this morning on Sirius XM Octane channel (funny since I cancelled by XM last month because they cancelled Sixx Sense channel and I still get it free for the next month). DAMN this song is AMAZING!  It has an old school rock circa Joan Jett/Runaways vibe and the catchiest sing along part on the air today. The song will become available for purchase on Itunes on Tuesday November 19th!

Taylor has truly proven to be a Rock Goddess that is on top of the charts these days. The song comes off their upcoming album, Going To Hell which is scheduled for a 2014 release date.  The Pretty Reckless released a video for their first song off the album, “Going To Hell” and that is a badass song. You can actually download “Going To Hell” on Itunes now here.  Check out the video here:

In October we caught The Pretty Reckless in San Francisco on their Going To Hell Tour and it was spectacular. One thing is for sure The Pretty Reckless has amazing stage presence and their songs are so damn good. I was immediately drawn in and excited to watch  more. Taylor Momsen has stated in the past that her musical influences are Kurt Cobain and Joan Jett and that is exactly what you get with her! She has this amazing grunge style with this rockin attitude and knows how to work the crowd. From start to finish, I was highly impressed with this band. Ben Phillips on lead guitar and backing vocals was spot on and had some incredible guitar licks and cool slide. Mark Damon on the bass took control of the left side of the stage as he plucked out solid bass lines without ever losing his shades, he is a cool cat. Jamie Perkins delivered such precision drumming it was as if you were listening to the original drum tracks, insane! Then you go back to center stage and Taylor has you mesmerized with her charismatic energy. She really has a magnetic personality and you can’t help but fall in love with her voice! You can read more from our original post here.

So check out the video that Rockin Ryan put together for one of their big songs, “My Medicine” that includes photos and footage of the spectacular night!

Just only a week ago, I was at Slim’s in San Francisco and enjoying the incredible, Russian, British and American band lineup that comprised of Louna, Heaven’s Basement and The Pretty Reckless. You can read our reviews of Louna and Heaven’s Basement here. It was quite a night as these three very different bands came together and gave an amazing show that had the crowd continuously rockin out all night.

This was the first time I saw The Pretty Reckless although I did get to enjoy Taylor Momsen as she joined Marilyn Manson on stage for the 2012 Revolver Golden Gods Awards.  I have the footage in the Links below.
