Just last week, we heard the news about the announcement of the departure of Shimon Moore of Sick Puppies. Shim has one of the most amazingly powerful vocals and I so excited to hear that he will be continuing on with his music. That is one voice that cannot and should not be silenced! Shim has since released his own statement via his Facebook page:

On October 20th Sick Puppies announced that I was leaving the band. This was the first I had heard of it. The truth is that there was tension in the band after the many years of touring. I had hoped that some time apart would resolve these issues and lead us to the next phase of our career. It unfortunately seems that Emma and Mark have decided to move on with a new singer instead. It has taken a couple of days for me to respond because I have needed a bit of time to get over the news.

Emma, Mark and I have done the impossible together. We turned a bunch of songs and a dream into a reality, then traveled the world to show it to everyone. For that I will always be grateful to them. I am deeply saddened to have lost my band after all these years.

I am so touched by the messages from you all asking me if I will be continuing in music and the answer is obviously “Yes.”

Since the announcement I have been locked out of all the Sick Puppies socials and mailing lists so you won’t be able to hear about it through those sites. If you want to hear my new music, please follow and share my socials with your friends from the links below.

For those of you I may lose during this time, I will miss you.
For those of you who will stand by me, I will not let you down.

Please remember one of my favorite lyrics.
“Every new beginning, comes from some other beginnings end.”

… I’ll be right here

I hate bittersweet news like this. First, I had heard a bit about how Sick Puppies were working on new music and have been waiting for a confirmation. Today, it was confirmed that Sick Puppies are working on new material but sadly at the same time, they have announced the departure of guitarist/vocalist, founding member, Shimon Moore. Sick Puppies released the following statement via their Facebook page:

Official Statement:

Sick Puppies are undergoing some exciting changes and evolving. Former member Shimon Moore is no longer with the band and is pursuing other endeavors. We are currently in the studio writing material for our upcoming studio album while auditioning new singers. As always, there is nothing we enjoy more than creating and performing music for our fans. Our passion and determination to create and share our music is stronger than ever. We cannot wait for Sick Puppies’ next chapter to unfold and for you all to be part of it.

With respect and appreciation,

Emma & Mark

******************

So, we will await the new music and the next chapter for Sick Puppies. We also wish the best of luck to Shimon in all of his future endeavors which I hope includes music because he has a voice that I just want to hear more from.

Earlier this week, the new album by Sick Puppies, “Connect” came out. I have been a long time fan of these Australilan rockers and they never cease to amaze me. For them I have my new saying, ” I love you more than your last album but less than your next album”.  I can’t imagine ever loving them any more than I do and then… BAM… their new music just has me loving them even more.

I just had the opportunity to listen to the whole “Connect” album and I am just in awe of this new phase of Sick Puppies!  I love when a band explores their adventurous side and steps outside their comfort zone and displays a new side to themselves. That is what I feel they have down with this CD.

From the moment I first heard their new single, “There’s No Going Back” and it instantly became my favorite song. I just the chorus, the energy, the lyrics, everything!! As soon as I hear it come on the radio, I am cranking up the volume and me and my family are all singing along. From 6 year old Brandon who at first was singing, “Hair’s no Growing Back” (He sometimes really gets those lyrics messed up, for weeks he was singing Kill a Fly when Villify came on!!)  to 15 year Ryan in the back air guitaring while we are driving. You just can’t help but get energized by this song. Lyrically, it is amazing and has some of the most meaningful lyrics for me. I love these:

“You can’t regret what you don’t decide

I should have stayed, should have let go

Should’ve, could’ve means you’ll never know”

Here is the video for “There’s No Going Back” which I absolutely love:

So now that the new album is album is out, I am torn between so many good favorites. “Die to Save You” not only comes out with intense energy, it features Emma’s vocals. It has a catchy chorus and will definitely be a  big hit! “Walking Away” shakes it up and has you wanting more! “Gunfight” is a very fun song that I really think is a blend of their creative elements and todays’ environment. I absolutely love this song!!!

“Poison” has some of the most beautiful bridge work as well as some of the sweetest vocal work. “Where did the Time Go” is just about what we all ask ourselves. It is beautifully written and emotionally energized! Next up is one of my favorites, “Telling Lies” which literally brings a dark edgy side to the album that just opens the door to your heart. You can’t help but be drawn into this song.

The title track “Connect” is up next and it is perfect for the title track. It truly has the lyrics that almost explain where this band is in their time. They really are just trying to “connect with you” and they do with this touching catchy song. “Run” comes in and it is another of my true favorites. I love Shimon’s vocals on this one as it really just flows from his heart. It just bleeds emotion and I love this one as it opens my eyes to a new world.

Up next ‘The Trick the Devil Did” just brings the high energy back and has you gathering up your feelings as you just spread them out on the table. You just can’t help but get energized and  empowered as this song plays! “Healing Now” touches base with you to see if you are all okay after that emotional bloodletting that you just went through. You are, as you realize that you are healing now. A perfect song at the perfect time. You finish it off with “Under A very Black Sky” and the vocals of Emma just wrap you in comforting arms in a song that is reminiscent of early Queen or Pink Floyd style. It has such an eclectic sound that I am absolutely in love with. This song just may be my favorite song!!!!

So now that you have a teaser of what this album is about, you have to head over and get it for yourself. You will be happy you did!! Truly one of my favorites and I am sure it will be yours. So it is time to Connect with Sick Puppies!
