One of my long time favorite rock band from Sacramento, TESLA released their new album, just in time for this summer. TESLA locked themselves away for weeks writing the new album and came up with fourteen solid tracks which will be SIMPLICITY. The album was recorded at their bassist Brian Wheat’s very own J Street Recorders. Legendary engineer Michael Wagener (Metallica, Skid Row, Motley Crue) was then tapped to put the final touches in place. The album was released last week via Tesla Electric Company Recording’s arrangement with Entertainment One Music and Distribution.
It is so exciting to hear that new music is only a couple months away. TESLA has been one of my favorite rock bands since forming in 1981. I have probably enjoyed their shows about a couple dozens time over the years and each time, I leave with an even higher appreciation for them! TESLA is Frank Hannon, Brian Wheat, Jeff Keith, Troy Luccketta and Dave Rude.
TESLA has released the video for their new song, So Devine today and it is AWESOME!!! Check it out here:
This song is really a great track with that signature TESLA sound that I love. It has heartfelt lyrics, cool guitar riffs and emotionally driven vocals, truly proven that TESLA is once again on top of their game! I love it and can’t wait to hear more from the new album. The track listing for the new album is listed below:
1. MP3 2. Ricochet 3. Rise and Fall 4. So Divine… 5. Cross My Heart 6. Honestly 7. Flip Side 8. Other Than Me 9. Break of Dawn 10. Burnout To Fade 11. Life is a River 12. Sympathy 13. Time Bomb 14. ‘Till That Day
TESLA performed a KILLER set on the Monsters of Rock Cruise and they have quite an extensive touring schedule laid out for 2014. Make sure to head over to their upcoming show page here and get yourself to a show! We caught a June 28th date for them here in Sacramento and we will make sure to be there and bring you full coverage of the show. We will possibly see if we can bring you an interview soon.
So be sure to head over to their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news. Head over to iTunes and pick up SIMPLICITY.
Not too long ago, we featured The Black Moods out of Arizona, you can read more from that post here. Now these 70’s inspired rockers are adding more dates to their tour and have released an awesome music video for Say It For The Last Time. Check out the video here:
The Black Moods is a three piece band that I can describe as having great guitar driven songs, infectious melodies, energetic vocals and an upgraded version of old school rock and roll. Imagine the great songwriting of Tom Petty meets the energy and passion of the Foo Fighters along with a side order of Collective Soul. They are Josh Kennedy on Lead Guitar/Vocals, Ryan Prier on Bass/Vocals and Chico – Drums/Percussion. Together they have collectively brought the rock influences of the past 40 years and have created their own unique signature sound.
Their tour is in support of their upcoming EP, Killers in The Night which is set for a July 15th release. Singer and guitarist Josh Kennedy offers, “I feel like we are an emotionally driven 70’s Rock ‘n’ Roll band. We just happen to have grown up in the nineties. We have a clear vision of the music we want to create, and it is reminiscent of a more classic rock style. I hope when people come to a show, or hear an album, they sense feeling, emotion and intensity.” Catch them out on tour at the following dates:

Ragdoll put on a solid rockin set filled with energy that had the crowd on their feet. It is great to see how a trio can create such a powerful sound and breathe fresh new life into rock and roll. They all have great stage presence, with Leon jumping around and getting the crowd fired up, Ryan captivating the crowd with his vocals and Cam was spot on his precision drumming, all while the three of them were smiling at the crowd. You can really tell that these three love what they are doing and they are exactly where they belong; on the stage. The trio revisited the first EP and had it remixed and polished the way they had always wanted to hear it. Songs like “Foot to the Floor” sound leaner and meaner while “The Feeling” is even more epic! Any issues the band may have had with the original ‘Here Today’ master have been fully rectified here too; while the new master of “Tell Me” in particular is a lot more dynamic and more true to the original mix.
Ragdoll is Ryan Rafferty on (lead vocals, bass), Leon Todd (guitar), and Cam Barrett (drums) and together they are creating a powerful strong rock and roll sound worthy of your attention. With an intense desire to inject new life into the music they love; Ragdoll‘s mission is to dismantle the sometimes tired genres of classic rock, hard rock and progressive rock and rebuild them, producing a modern hybrid that both transcends and revitalizes the traditional rock genres. What they have created is rock and roll at it’s finest and a big sound coming from these three. They are set to perform at this year’s Rocklahoma and will be performing on their Rewind Your Mind Tour.

When I think of the above quote, my favorite quote, it always reminds me of how strong you have to be to when you are faced with creating your own path or destiny. It inspires me when I see people make that great leap of faith and head off into that new path and become an even stronger person. I believe a great example in this is watching Austin Winkler as he has forged ahead in the new chapter of his musical career. It was last year that we brought you the news of Austin‘s departure from Hinder, but then to hear how he was going to continue with a new musical venture, I was truly elated.
Austin has one of the most recognizable and beloved voices in the industry and I couldn’t wait to hear what he has in store for us. He invited us in to witness the creative process of his songwriting by delivering snippits and lyrics through his Instagram account. It was wonderful to see all the support and love that fans gave back in return. I had the opportunity to talk with Austin earlier today about his new music and am pleased to bring that interview to you here:
It is exciting to hear how Austin is doing exactly what he should be doing, at the right time and all at his own pace. I will continue to keep you updated with any album news. It is a beautiful journey that he has invited us all on, and through his emotionally driven lyrics, powerful vocals and heartfelt songs, we will all become a bit stronger. Maybe, just maybe each of us will decide to make our own path and lead a trail.
Make sure to visit Austin‘s social media sites and I will leave you with a video of Austin performing Born To Be Wild with Camp Freddy at the Roxy.
