Blessthefall were another great band to check out on the Moving On Tour. This was the first time for us catching them perform live and they were incredible. The crowd at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco were definitely ready to heavy it up by the time Blessthefall hit the stage. From the second they hit the stage, the intense wave of crowd surfers began. It was like a sea of legs in the air and sweat flying across the venue.
They kicked ass and I am already looking forward to the next time they return to San Francisco. The energy these guys bring out is unreal and they had the crowd under their spell. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

We have been bringing you coverage of our coverage of Arch Enemy, Huntress and Starkill and now we present to you our coverage of …. Kreator. WOW! What a night it was to see all these great metal bands take the stage at the Regency Ballroom but especially to see the return of German thrash metal band, Kreator. It seemed everywhere I turned fans were wearing their Kreator shirts and telling stories of the times they saw them last or favorite albums, etc.
The birthplace of thrash metal was the perfect setting for the return of Kreator and the crowd was fueled and ready to go. From the second Kreator hit the stage, the crowd parted and an intense mosh pit opened up and seemed to span the length of the ballroom! It was fierce and with every bad ass thrash song Kreator played, the energy increased and the mosh pit intensified to insurmountable levels. It brought me back to my vivid memories of catching local thrash bands perform at The Stone in SF long ago. I am sure many of those same crowdgoers were there in attendance for Kreator.
Kreator played a full co-headlining set and it was great to hear them perform all the fan favorites as the crowd banged their heads in solid agreement of each song played. The room was completely filled with adrenaline as the circle put would grow with each song. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

We were in San Francisco on Monday night and braved the traffic to arrive early and catch all the bands featured on the Arch Enemy Tour which included killer sets from Kreator, Huntress and Starkill. I must say, I was most excited to see Huntress since I have never been able to see them live but have heard so many great things about them. Sure enough, as we were outside in line chatting with the fans so many told us how they were excited to see Huntress again. They shared details about their favorite songs and their excitement poured out with every story. One thing in common with all of them, was that Huntress always put on a MUST SEE SHOW!
When Huntress hit the stage, I immediately understood everything the fans were talking about. They were absolutely amazing and put on one of the best solid sets in heavy metal out today. They have a very unique sound that blends early heavy metal with hints of seventies vibe and classic thrash that grabs a hold of you. If that isn’t enough, their top notch stage presence has you glued to their performance. Vocalist Jill Janus is not only a captivating beauty but is impressive at holding the crowd’s attention. She is mesmerizing and had the complete control over the crowd and she could have had them doing the Hokey Pokey if she wanted to!
Jill’s beautiful voice has a vocal range that takes you from metal mayhem to symphonic aura. In addition, the guitarists were fierce and had the crowd in a continuous head banging state all night. The band’s energy seemed non stop as they continued to invigorate the crowd to new levels. Quite an unbelievable set and Huntress was truly a highlight of the night. STARKILL from Chicago recently opened for Arch Enemy earlier this week as the tour made a stop in San Francisco. The night was perfect and included awesome sets by Huntress and Kreator. Starkill opened the night with pure adrenaline as they hit the stage. These guys came out and gave 150% and left it all out on that stage. They got the crowd fired up as they played songs from their recently released album, Virus Of The Mind out on Century Media Records. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

We headed into San Francisco earlier this week for The Pretty Reckless show at The Regency Ballroom. It was the fourth time I have seen them in just a couple years, so what I was really looking forward to; was seeing Adelita’s Way. The first opening band, Falling Through April was great too and I hope you check out our article on them here. I have been waiting for a while to see them return to the Bay Area and it so happens, that they were the opener for TPR. It was 5 years ago this October, where I first introduced to Adelita’s Way. They were opening for Shinedown and the second they hit the stage, I was completely floored by their killer hard rock! Well, one thing is for sure, Adelita’s Way did it again, they actually exceeded all expectations and delivered a 150% high energetic set that rocked the Regency. This is one band that is well deserving of your full and undivided attention!
Vocalist, Rick DeJesus has such an impressive presence that you are immediately drawn to his infectious energy. The vocals of Rick are powerful and commanding and can bring to life the emotionally driven lyrics with conviction and a large presence. His passion shines through when he sings. He owned that crowd as they played crowd favorites one after another. I truly didn’t want their set to end! Robert Zakarian on guitar was fierce and gave his over the top energy. It was the first time for me to see Andrew Cushing perform with Adelita’s Way and is the perfect. Tre Stafford is a madman on the drums, maintaining his beat while practically juggling his drumsticks! These guys have such a stage presence that completely stole the show.

Adelita’s Way have more upcoming dates and I would strongly urge you to check the list and get yourself to a show. You will be blown away. We are working on bringing an interview with Rick next week, where we talk a lot about the current music scene and how important it is for fans to support live music. Rick has some great points and advice that I hope we all listen to. Adelita’s Way is pure ROCK n ROLL and it is up to us to keep it alive by going to a show, buying their music, picking up a t-shirt or other merchandise. We can do this together and keep ROCK N ROLL ALIVE!
If you don’t already have it, make sure to pick up their latest release, Stuck which is out on Virgin Records. This album is the much anticipated follow up to their 2011 release of Home School Valedictorian. Stuck was produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Deftones, Evanescence). The first single off the album, Dog on a Leash garnered a lot of attention as it climbed the Active Rock charts. These days hard rock tends to have the genre lines blurred and a spilling over from metal or hardcore which is great if you are looking for that. But when you want a straight up hard rock album with fierce guitars, powerful vocals, anthem rock songs, even throw in a sweet ass ballad, then look no further.
Head over to iTunes and pick up your copy of Stuck. It is from start to finish a great well crafted hard rock album that is deserving of your attention. While you are at it, make sure to pick up the Deluxe Version so you don’t miss out, especially one of my fave tracks, What You Are. Check out the lyric video for their song, Save the World here:
Check out their upcoming tour dates and make sure to get out to a show!

Candlelight Red came through San Francisco on March 30, 2013 as they played with Sevendust, Lacuna Coil, and Coal Chamber. We had the opportunity to interview Ryan Hoke and Jeremy Edge, right before their show at the Regency Ballroom. I was supposed to head out there but got tied up with a family emergency. This was Javier Rivas’s first interview for us and he went with Rockin Ryan andhere is that interview.
I have had the great opportunity to see Candlelight Red live four times and I really didn’t wan’t to miss them. I heard about how they again delivered intense energy on just got the crowd pumped! We got to hear about how they are working on a new album and if you don’t have your copy of “Demons” make sure to get it on Itunes. It absolutely Rocks!
Check out a video of them performing “Demons” live at the Regency Ballroom Show.
Here is their video for another one of my favorites, “Closer”:
Make sure to check out their music and see when they are coming to your town!
A Silent Film is a powerhouse quartet from Oxford, UK that took me by surprise on Saturday night. I went to see Blue October play at The Regency Ballroom and you can read my full review from that show here. A Silent Film was one of the opening bands and I am sure glad that I got there in time to watch their whole set. These guys were incredible. I was up sitting in the balcony area and gathering my notes for my review and as soon as they hit the stage, I literally got up and had to get downstairs onto the floor and to see if what I was hearing was accurate! I swear for a second there I was taken back to the first time that I listened to U2 as a teenager and became enmeshed with Alternative Rock. It was the sweet lyrics, uptempo beat, melodic harmonies all drawing me in once again. I stood there and my mind was flooded with some of my favorite acts coming to mind; Jack’s Mannequin, Coldplay, U2 and so many more. A Silent Film does nothing to imitate them, instead they offer their own incredible sound that has me in awe of what they deliver and I was captivated. I soon became hooked and I am sure if you take a listen you will too.
Just who is A Silent Film? Well you have Robert Stevenson on vocals and piano, Karl Bareham on guitar, Ali Hussain on bass and Spencer Walker on drums. These guys together create the symmetry of music that is a work of art. The crowd loved them and you could really tell they were just as surprised as I was. I spoke to several people who said they were so happy to discover them and announced they were their new dedicated fans. They really created a positive energy in the room that was contagious and I must say, a bit addictive! As soon as they finished their set, I made sure to get their CD since I needed to add them to my daily playlist. My son Ryan who absolutely loved them gave them the laminates he made for them and got to snap a quick photo with Robert.
So, make sure to check out A Silent Film and head over to their website and order their new CD, “Sand & Snow” or if you are into downloading then head over to Itunes and download it. You know how I am still in love with the hardcopy of music, whether it be a CD or LP. I usually end up getting both but I just love to have the physical CD too.
I have included a couple of my photos from the night as well as videos of two of my favorite performances from the San Francisco show.
