Earlier this week we braved the 3+ hour traffic to Sacramento and did get there in time to catch Palisades hit the stage at the Assembly Music Hall. This was our first time at the new Assembly, but it was great to see that it is under the same ownership/management as our fave Sacramento stop, Ace of Spades. The staff was exceptional and the venue set up is ideal for a crowd to feel the energy from the stage.

Palisades definitely delivered on the energy! They got the crowd engaged and ready to rage. The intimate atmosphere really allowed for the crowd to feed off the artist’s vibe. There was no one left standing still when Palisades took the stage. Their music brings the perfect fusion of EDM and Post-hardcore an inviting style that appealed to all. One drawback is the extremely dark venue and the little to no lighting which even at 6400 iso, it was tough to catch any good shots. Check out the photos from their set:

Post-hardcore band Silverstein have signed to Rise Records. The band will be entering the studio with Jordan Valeriote this fall to record their 7th full length, which is set for release in 2015. Silverstein and Valeriote have worked together on previous projects including This is How the Wind Shifts, Short Songs, and Transitions EP. For more information, visithttp://www.silversteinmusic.com.

On signing to Rise Records, Shane Told (vocals) said “Craig Ericson (Rise founder and president) and I have been friends for years, and despite never actually working together until now, we have had an amazing mutual respect.  When it was time to find a home for the next album, Rise seemed like the perfect choice.

Paul Koehler (drums) added Rise understands how we grew up in an ethics first hardcore/punk scene and how important that is to us.  At the same time they have done an amazing job growing the scene and bringing underground music to the masses.  We are excited to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of our band next year with a release on Rise Records.”

Silverstein is:

  • Shane Told – Vocals
  • Paul Koehler – Drums
  • Josh Bradford – Guitar
  • Billy Hamilton – Bass
  • Paul-Marc Rousseau – Guitar

We look forward to new music and I will leave you with one of my favorite songs, Sacrifice.

Last week, we covered the Asking Alexandria show at The Senator Theater in Chico, CA. This was the only California stop on the Break Down The Walls Tour and there was no way we were going to miss it. What was awesome is that the tour included a great group of bands. One of the opening bands was Crown The Empire and they delivered a heavy rock set worthy of our attention.

The band came out and immediately captured the attention of the crowd. They are full of energy as they bounced across the stage unleashing their music and enthralled the listeners. What is awesome about Crown The Empire is that their sound is a mix of hard/heavy rock to post-hardcore, interweaving melodies to scream vocals, but never overdoing it either way. They have finely balanced their musical fusions in order to create a unique and quite infectious sound. They were definitely one of my favorites of the new night.

You can check out the photos of Crown The Empire by our Rockin Ryan here:

Their debut album “The Fallout” on Rise Records is could quite well be called a concept album. It is a great work of art and through their musical compositions tell the story of a post-apocalyptic world. The basis of the album came from a failed relationship and they creatively turned it into a musical gem. You can pick up the album on Itunes here and make sure to listen to it from start to finish, it is awesome and takes you on a wild cinematic ride.

I will leave you with a couple videos from their set in Chico. You can also check them out this summer as they will be on the Vans Warped Tour. Check here for their tour dates on Warped Tour.  Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news.
