massive

New York based metalcore band, MASSiVE has released a music video for their song, Still Alive. The video was directed by Sam Link (Sleeping With Sirens, Bruised But Not Broken, and Crown The Empire) with the song being produced by Joey Sturgis (Of Mice & Men, Asking Alexandria, and We Came As Romans). Check out the video here:

Now that you watched the video, you can head over and pick up the free download of the song below:

Everything came to us very naturally… I mean, we’ve been playing music together since we were little kids, so the whole writing process is a breeze. We all get along so well, it’s like the songs write themselves sometimes! As far as the music itself, we wanted to create something that sounded very powerful, hence the name MASSiVE. Something huge, but fast, thrashy, and energy-driven. I think the most important part of all of this is the message that we want to send to our listeners. We didn’t want to just sing about girls or being sad or whatever. The songs are all about our passion, both for music, and for life as a whole. That ties into the theme of MASSiVEas well. We left the ‘i’ lowercase, which can stand for this group being about more than ‘i’, more than us. It’s about everyone that wants to be a part of it. With the songs we’re releasing this year, I think it’ll all become very clear. Craig Johns Jr.

MASSiVE is:

  • Rob Ulshafer: Vocals
  • Craig Johns Jr.: Guitar
  • Anthony Caggiano: Drums
  • Joey Scott DeVito: Bass, Vocals
  • Emmett Maloney: Guitar

The band will be working with director Sam Link on a series of music videos to be released this Fall/Winter. Make sure to visit their social media sites so you can stay up to date on their latest news.

Last Friday when we made it out to the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, we were treated to many great bands, Breakaway Patriot, Pushing the Sun, Approaching Fiction and now the spotlight is on Petaluma band, When Earth Awakes. It was great to see that the headlining band was from Petaluma. These guys came out and gave their 150% energy, regardless of the size of the crowd, these guys were their to deliver an incredible set.

Their music brings a spotlight on this local band as a great blend of hardcore/metalcore. One of the highlights of their set was when they performed an amazing cover of One Republic’s Counting Stars. Talk about a band taking a cover and truly making their own, that is exactly what these guys do. Check out the video here:

They may be fairly new, but they are definitely one band to take notice and watch them as they embark on the rise through their musical journey. We picked up their EP at the show and it is stellar. With heavy tracks like The Human Condition and Destroy & Rebuild, you will find yourself being infected with the energy and truly awaken your senses. You can pick up the EP on their merch webstore here: http://whenearthawakes.bigcartel.com/.

Check out photos by our Rockin Ryan of their set:
