Carbon Tigers are premiering a new song, Out of Heaven on The 405. The swirling pop track captures an emotional vulnerability yet wraps it in melodic warmth that will draw you in. I love it.  About the band’s new single “Out of Heaven,” Chris Wienke (vocals/guitar/bass) stated “‘Out of Heaven’ is a song about separation. I enjoy the realization that even though I may be physically away from those I love, we are always connected. That bond transcends any momentary attachment and lasts forever.”  Check out the song here:

This past Friday, we made it out to the DNA Lounge for a great night of music which included everything from acoustic to punk rock. Check out our coverage of all the bands here: Dead Frets, Travis Hayes and the Young Daze, ToyGuitar and of course Divided Heaven  which is the music project of Jeff Berman. This tour, he has full band in tow and they delivered an incredible energetic set of indie punk.  We had the opportunity to talk with Jeff before his set and are pleased to bring you that interview here:

Jeff recently started his Youngblood Tour in support of his new album, Youngblood which was released earlier this year on Say 10 Records. One thing is for sure, he delivered an energetic set that captured the crowd’s attention and had everyone moving and singing along. His style of music can be described as indie or punk with a great emphasis on the punk. Jeff’s upbeat tempo and punk style created the perfect atmosphere for the DNA Lounge as I reminisced about the punk bands I would catch back in the 80’s on Tuesday nights (those are some good memories!). Check out the photos by Rockin Ryan of the set:

I was glad to see a couple of my favorite songs performed, Melissa Militia and Ego and Nothing More, in addition to hearing some of his older songs which have become some of my new faves Jeff brings a completely new edge to his songs when he performs them with a live band and highlights this punk angst. But I love both the acoustic and live band sets, and I still am so bummed that I didn’t get to see Divided Heaven on Warped Tour as they performed on the Acoustic Basement stage. Jeff brings such emotion to his songs and  his voice is captivating. One of my favorite sets at the DNA Lounge in a very long time. Check out a couple videos from the set:

You can catch Divided Heaven on the West Coast tour dates and I would highly recommend getting out to a show. Also, when you are there, make sure to pick up the Youngblood album and it is available on vinyl, which I am ecstatic about. We picked up both Divided Heaven vinyls at the show and I have been playing them ever since. You can also pick up Youngblood on iTunes here. Youngblood was produced by Charlie Stavish (Imagine Dragons, Ryan Adams) and Stephen Egerton (ALL, Descendents).

Tour dates:

  • September 9 – The Kraken – Seattle, WA
  • September 10 – Twilight – Portland, WA
  • September 11 – The Press Club – Sacramento, CA
  • September 12 – Riley’s – Bakersfield, CA
  • September 13 – Artistic Armory – Las Vegas, NV
  • September 14 – Hotel Café – Los Angeles, CA

Make sure to catch a show if they are coming near you and stay tuned for our interview with Jeff later this week.  Visit the social media sites so you can stay up to date on the latest news.

It is always welcoming to see a young create their own unique sound. In today’s music scene, there seems to be a demand to fit into a specific genre or sub-genre checkbox. That is not the case with Moet. This alternative rock style band from the South Bay are createing their own style of music. Time and time again, I see musicians who play to fit a genre instead of play what they enjoy. I think musically you can hear it in the music. With Moet, you can hear the truth in their music and that they enjoy exactly what they are playing.  They have a sound that blends influences of funk, indie, alternative and rock.

Moet recently released their music video for their song Perfect Night. You can check it out here:

Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news. We will see if we can bring you an interview with Moet.

Jesse

Jesse Denaro has announced a US Fall Tour in support of his new album, Dear Love. The tour will also feature Animal Flag. Singer/Songwriter Jesse has done a wonderful job at creating an album full of emotionally driven lyrics, songs that connect the listener and engages them on his musical journey.  It is quite a superb journey to be a passenger on as you will experience the ups and downs of life, love and loss. I can only imagine how wonderful it will be to experience the music live. Jesse posted the following about the tour:

Hey Guys!

This fall I am embarking on my first ever full US tour! I am going out with my best friend Animal Flag and we are supporting both of our new albums (“Dear, Love” & his upcoming self titled EP coming this Fall). Touring takes a lot of time, preparation and money, so if you have a spare dollar or two head over to iTunes, band camp or whatever and pick up “Dear, Love” or any older releases from Matt. All the support is appreciated!
We hope to see you at these shows. Share this post, tag a friend who lives in the area, bring a friend to a show, tell your parents or pets or whatever. Let’s make this awesome.
The shows that say ‘TBA’ we are still looking for shows, so please feel free to help us book those dates. WE WANT TO PLAY SHOWS IN YOUR HOUSE OR VENUE OR WHATEVER FOR YOUR FRIENDS.
Details on each show will be released closer to the start of tour.

Love,
Jesse

The tour poster includes many LA dates and we are hoping that a Northern California one will be added soon. Check the dates and see if they will be coming to a venue near you.

Jesse‘s music is magical and his honest emotions shine through his passionate vocals with such a vulnerability yet a sense of comforting. It is an album that you will fall in love with, regardless of what your main love of music may be. His sound transcends the blurred lines of genres and creates a clarity through song.  I will leave you with my absolute favorite track which I must have played a dozen times this morning!
