Sunday nights have really become the best night for great concerts and last night was definitely one of the finest nights in music. Northern California was treated to a double dose of heavy metal with legendary Judas Priest and the fun Steel Panther. We arrived at the City National Civic early to find a great line of dedicated fans waiting for the show.

I was really excited to see that Steel Panther was opening for Judas Priest on this tour. We have had the great pleasure of seeing them over half a dozen times and they still hold top honors for the funnest concert ever attended. Before the show we were able to interview Michael Starr and Lexxi Foxx and we will be bringing that hilarious interview to you later this week. Steel Panther put on an awesome set that fired up the crowd and insured that everyone was having a great time. Even those that were not familiar with Steel Panther and might have at first found their humor which some may consider “off color” (I find welcoming and hilarious!!)  soon dismissed their shocked looks on their faces, lighted up and enjoyed the concert. They definitely won over the crowd and got everyone in true metal form for Judas Priest. Check out a sneak peek of photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

After Steel Panther, their was an intermission and when the lights came on, you could finally see how packed the venue was! It definitely looked like a sold out or nearly sold out show. I was so excited to finally see Judas Priest live! This was the first time I was going to see Judas Priest since 32 years ago on November 20th, 1982 my parents banned me from attending the show at the Cow Palace because they wouldn’t let us 14 year old girls head out by ourselves to the show!  It was funny to hear the guys next to us who were talking about that very same show. My husband even went to it and told me how it still is one of his favorite concerts of his life.

The lights dimmed and the crowd roared with excitement as the Judas Priest banner dropped and they came out and tore up the place. They started right off with Dragonaut and you could just feel the energy travel through the venue. It was intense and spectacular and clearly deserves to be on my list of top concerts. I was absolutely mesmerized as I watched Rob maneuver the stage as the Metal God that he is. It was humbling to be there and watch the man who truly shaped so many lives and became the foundation of our love of metal. What a night! The set list was filled with favorites as well as new ones. Some of the highlights for me were definitely, Metal Gods, Halls of Valhalla, Love Bites,Turbo Lover, Hell Bent for Leather, and Breaking the Law. To be honest, the entire night was one fantastic highlight! Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

We will be bringing you more coverage of each set but wanted to at least give you a quick recap of the night. Stay tuned for more Judas Priest and Steel Panther to feed your addiction! There is still another week left of the US Tour and I hope you get a chance to see it. Make sure to visit all their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news.

We were in San Francisco on Monday night and braved the traffic to arrive early and catch all the bands featured on the Arch Enemy Tour which included killer sets from Kreator, Huntress and Starkill. I must say, I was most excited to see Huntress since I have never been able to see them live but have heard so many great things about them. Sure enough, as we were outside in line chatting with the fans so many told us how they were excited to see Huntress again.  They shared details about their favorite songs and their excitement poured out with every story. One thing in common with all of them, was that Huntress always put on a MUST SEE SHOW!

When Huntress hit the stage, I immediately understood everything the fans were talking about. They were absolutely amazing and put on one of the best solid sets in heavy metal out today. They have a very unique sound that blends early heavy metal with hints of seventies vibe and classic thrash that grabs a hold of you. If that isn’t enough, their top notch stage presence has you glued to their performance. Vocalist Jill Janus is not only a captivating beauty but is impressive at holding the crowd’s attention. She is mesmerizing and had the complete control over the crowd and she could have had them doing the Hokey Pokey if she wanted to!

Jill’s beautiful voice has a vocal range that takes you from metal mayhem to symphonic aura. In addition, the guitarists were fierce and had the crowd in a continuous head banging state all night. The band’s energy seemed non stop as they continued to invigorate the crowd to new levels. Quite an unbelievable set and Huntress was truly a highlight of the night. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

Last year we introduced you to what soon became one of our family’s favorite band, Centerlink. A couple days don’t ever go by, where we are not cranking out Distant Voices, Hopes and Dreams or other songs from their CD, All it Takes. This is one metal band that has blown us away and with their latest release of their 3 song EP, Strength In Numbers, they have done it again. The EP brings out their sound which is reminiscent of early Metallica, Megadeth and even a side of Sex Pistols with their last song, Stronger Than Hate. They in no way imitate, instead they are blazing their own trail with their now familiar signature Centerlink sound. If you have been craving more straight up metal that is hard and heavy with fierce guitars, pounding drums and powerful melt your face vocals, then get ready to feel satisfied with Centerlink!

centerlink

The new EP is available for download on their Bandcamp page here: https://centerlink.bandcamp.com/album/strength-in-numbers. We picked up our copy and I hope you download yours! If you like your rock hard and heavy and your Metal in your face, this is the band for you! After listening to them, you will have a hard time believing that the great music comes from just three guys…. A Power Metal Trio that can rival many metal bands today, surprisingly these guys come from Boston, Massachusetts. I wasn’t expecting that either.  They have a sound of their own but you can feel their influences of anything from Metallica, Rob Zombie, Megadeth,  Anthrax, and so much more!  I know you may be thinking I am building them up, but seriously they deliver the goods!

Check out their video for their song, “Distant Voices”. This is the song that I first heard of theirs and believe me, it just keeps getting better and better.

Here is some information from our previous post about Centerlink back in 2013

Centerlink is Parky on guitars and vocals, Billy K on bass and Jon on drums. We contacted them immediately to find out more about them and how they started. Parky told us, “Centerlink first started back in late 2005. Jon and I  have been friends since we were both 14 years old and in 2005 with the passing of Jon’s mom Jon and I got together. I was recording music on a pc using software and Jon had an electronic drum set so he wanted me to show him how to record. So next thing you know we were collaborating. Jon then got in contact with an old friend of his that played bass in a band they were we in. So entered Billy, which he had some songs already recorded and we just started moving from there.”

This band is from Boston where as Parky told us, “There is not a good metal scene from where we are from. We are from south of Boston and there is no real metal scene there. If you want to play metal music or catch a metal show you are headed out towards the Worcester are along with southern New Hampshire, Maine and Northern Connecticut”

They currently have a CD titled, “All it Takes” that is going to be a must have for all of you. This one is going to be on replay for quite a while, believe me, I LOVE IT! Hard and Heavy with energy and clean driven sound. You can get their CD on Bandcamp as well as their shirts.

I asked Parky about what they are currently working on and he told us, “We are currently working on doing our next video for the song Withered and we are also working on new material for a new album. We are also friends with Eddie Halford aka Bone Digger Halford and could possibly be working with him in the future. He is Rob Halford’s cousin.”   That will be no surprise of them getting the attention of Eddie, they really are incredible and a band you will be hearing a lot more of. As far as airplay, they are currently played (for the moment) on independent internet radio such as  metalnation.com and indie365radio.com. It will not be long before we hear them on Octane, Sixx Sense and radio stations everywhere.

Lastly, I asked Parky about what bands would they be interested in touring with and they said, Korn or Anthrax. I think that would be quite a show and we top it off with Device!. We need to get these guys out on the road so let’s all make some calls and make this happen.

Make sure to head over and buy their CD, and you can also listen to more of them on Reverbnation. This is one band, you cannot pass up listening to.  In our house, our family is into all styles of rock and roll and metal and tonight we all came together and head banged to Centerlink, even 6 year old Brandon had his fists in the air! Now that has not happened in a very, very long time!

~Horns in the air, Marisol

Century Media A&R rep, Daniel Dismal had this to say about the band:

It was a chilly night in Downtown Los Angeles… the date was January 28th 2013, the venue was the Down N Out and the Metal was about ready to kick out the windows of this unsuspecting dive! At the time, NIGHT DEMON was just a name to me, something that sounded cool but I really didn’t know what to expect. From the first 4 clicks of the sticks into the opening riffs I thought to myself, “Woah, what’s this!? I was not expecting this!?” and from then on, I was hooked. Fast forward less than a year later and we see that the self-titled EP has gained an almost cult status, the band has made appearances on various European fests while completing a successful string of headlining dates throughout Europe only to come back home in order to trek across North America numerous times. Within less than 10 months, NIGHT DEMON went from playing a little dive bar to becoming a rising star that spits out high-octane, NWOBHM influenced neck wreckers while exuding an atmosphere of “Yeah, we’re here to get down” during their live performances that are constantly winning over audiences and peers from various different “scenes” and genres. Now, I am proud to announce that NIGHT DEMON is one of my first signings to Century Media Records and not only am I excited for the future, I am stoked to say, Watch out world, the NIGHT DEMON has arrived!!!!

We recently brought you our coverage of the return of the Butcher Babies at this year’s Monster Energy Aftershock Festival. They are one of the most energetic female fronted bands out today. What is really awesome is that these frontwomen could give many men a run for their money when it comes to bringing power and presence to the stage. They hit the stage and took control of the crowd, energized everyone and definitely raised the heat a dozen or so degrees! We had the opportunity to chat with vocalist, Heidi Shepard at Aftershock and we are pleased to bring that interview to you here:

One thing is for sure, they definitely delivered an intense and energetic set. Check out the photos by our Rockin Ryan from their blazing set:

Last year I told you the story of how I found the great heavy metal/rock band Killed the Fixtion. I told you about “Music was their outlet and they have delivered a sound that just really invokes bad ass metal. It is almost like Pantera sprinkled with some Sevendust and Stevie Ray Vaughn all at the same time! You will love them, I know I am getting hooked.” You can read more from that original post here.

Killed the Fixtion have recently released a new song, Mother that is truly powerful and has a great message of hope and faith. In a time when it is hard to find people who care about the troubles of the world, it is rewarding to hear that we are not alone and have faith. We care about the state of the world today and this song truly captures that message. I absolutely love the raw emotion and thought provoking lyrics. So, take a couple minutes to check it out and share it with your friends. Maybe we can all get everyone to care a little bit more and make a difference.

They also do an incredible version of “Nutshell” from Alice in Chains that just is smooth and beautiful.  So take a listen and go to  follow/like them on their social media sites so you can be part of the KTF family!

Check out this video of their Alice in Chains Tribute of “Nutshell”. It will give you chills…
