Denver heavy thrashers Havok have been busy touring overseas which took them all over Europe. They are gearing up for their North American “Symmetry in Black” Tour featuring HAVOK w/ CROWBAR, REVOCATION, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, ARMED FOR APOCALYPSE. Drummer Pete Webber will be sitting out select dates of the tour due to a family emergency and Wretched’s Marshall Wieczorek will be filling in temporarily.

Pete comments: As some of you may have heard, my mother was in a tragic accident and is in very serious condition in the ICU in Boston. This unfortunately means I will have to miss out on at least a portion of our future shows. I must be by mom and family’s side during these difficult times…Our pal Marshall from WRETCHED will be filling in on my duties. He is a good friend of ours and a great drummer! I know he will do an awesome job in my absence! I hope everyone understands and keeps my mom in their positive thoughts and prayers. It helps in a big way to have the support! I will return as soon as I can to my bros in HAVOK and wish them all the best on this next run!

We send our wishes for a full recovery for Pete’s mom and we will keep her in our thoughts and prayers. We know that everyone will welcome Marshall as he fills in on the dates and we look forward to Pete’s return.

After the Symmetry In Black Tour, you can expect to find Havok heading right back out. This time for their headlining tour in Mexico, the Until The Thrash Takes Us Tour. David Sanchez (lead vocals / guitars) comments: Earlier this year was our first trip to Mexico and we liked it so much we’re coming back again this fall! We’re looking forward to seeing our maniacal fans south of the border this October. Mexico, prepare for attack...”

Denver heavy thrashers Havok have premiered the new video for their song Chasing the Edge which is off their third length full album on Candlelight Records, Unnatural Selection. The album was produced by guitarist David Sanchez, mixed by Terry Date (PANTERA, DEFTONES, OVERKILL) and mastered by James Murphy (TESTAMENT, DEATH, LAZARUS AD). The album features the original artwork from Polish illustrator Rafal Wechterowicz (SLAYER, MASTODON). Check out the video here:

David explains about the video here:

In case you couldn’t tell by the video, “Chasing the Edge” is about space exploration. This song is dedicated to Nicolaus Copernicus and his groundbreaking idea that sparked the modern scientific revolution. Without his bold observations that turned the Church on its head, you might not be reading this text on a computer screen right now! The lyrics are dictated from Copernicus’ point of view, but of course, the meaning of the song can be interpreted in many different ways.

Astronomy is very humbling when you realize that we are an incredibly tiny part of the cosmos. No matter how self-interested our society becomes, it should always be remembered that we are not the center of the universe… There is just SO much out there. Every time I look up at the night sky, I can’t help but contemplate the possibility that somewhere out there, there are creatures looking at our star; Wondering, like myself, about the possibility of life near our tiny pinhole of light, which we call the Sun. Peering into the vast ocean of suns above our heads is a mind-expanding exercise and I recommend that people do it more often. What greater fountain of mystery and wonder could you possibly look at with your own two eyes?

We live in a historic time of human triumph and incredible discovery. It would be a shame to let these advances in understanding go unappreciated. We should be grateful for revolutionary thinkers like Nicolaus Copernicus and always remember, like the song says, ‘That an open mind has the biggest impact’.
