Blessthefall were another great band to check out on the Moving On Tour. This was the first time for us catching them perform live and they were incredible. The crowd at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco were definitely ready to heavy it up by the time Blessthefall hit the stage. From the second they hit the stage, the intense wave of crowd surfers began. It was like a sea of legs in the air and sweat flying across the venue.

They kicked ass and I am already looking forward to the next time they return to San Francisco.  The energy these guys bring out is unreal and they had the crowd under their spell. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

polar

Post hardcore band Polar have released their music video for Bloodlines. “Bloodlines’ really means a lot to me,” proclaims vocalist Adam “Woody” Woodford. “Lyrically, it comes from a hard time for me and my family. I won’t name names, but it turns out that one of the family members was stealing from another and then they became very hostile towards my side of the family and that’s where the line ‘living with a death wish’ comes from. On a more positive note, it’s one of my favourite tunes to play live, so come down and party with us on the BWP tour in December – we can’t wait!” Check out the video here:

The song is off their North American debut album, Shadowed By Vultures. Polar are currently out on tour in Europe with Close Your Eyes. Check the dates below and see if you are able to make it out to one of their shows.

Earlier this week we braved the 3+ hour traffic to Sacramento and did get there in time to catch Palisades hit the stage at the Assembly Music Hall. This was our first time at the new Assembly, but it was great to see that it is under the same ownership/management as our fave Sacramento stop, Ace of Spades. The staff was exceptional and the venue set up is ideal for a crowd to feel the energy from the stage.

Palisades definitely delivered on the energy! They got the crowd engaged and ready to rage. The intimate atmosphere really allowed for the crowd to feed off the artist’s vibe. There was no one left standing still when Palisades took the stage. Their music brings the perfect fusion of EDM and Post-hardcore an inviting style that appealed to all. One drawback is the extremely dark venue and the little to no lighting which even at 6400 iso, it was tough to catch any good shots. Check out the photos from their set:

Palisades have a couple more dates on the Not Your American Idols Tour as well as many more dates. Check the list below:

Oct. 24 EL Corazon Seattle, WA

Tuesday night we made our way to Sacramento to cover the Not Your American Idols Tour in Sacramento at the Assembly Music Hall. The crowd was ready and the bands definitely were there to deliver incredible sets. Youth In Revolt from New Jersey was one of the bands that I was looking forward to catching live. They were awesome with energy that filled the stage and poured into the crowd. They delivered an intense dose of hardcore to the Sacramento crowd. You couldn’t keep yourself contained as you would get amped watching the fierce jumping of the bassist and guitarists. Every member of the band holds an incredible stage presence and they got the crowd off their feet and captivated them from start to finish. Definitely one of the stand out bands of the night and I am already looking forward to seeing them again! Check out the photos from Rockin Ryan of their set:

If you aren’t able to make it out to Aftershock, make sure you catch Memphis May Fire as they set out on their fall tour co-headlining with Yellowcard and Emarosa as support. The tour is set to kick off on October 16th and finish up on November 16th in San Francisco. YES! You know where Music Junkie Press will be on November 16th!

We’ve recently become great friends with the guys in Yellowcard and mutually decided to give our fans the opportunity to experience a tour like no other this Fall.”, said Matty Mullins. “Too many bands tour within a singular genre with similar sounding peers, which doesn’t offer much excitement. Our collective decision with Yellowcard to diversify and break this mold has us more excited than we’ve ever been to hit the road and share the love with all the fans. See you in October/November!

Last Friday when we made it out to the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, we were treated to many great bands, Breakaway Patriot, Pushing the Sun, Approaching Fiction and now the spotlight is on Petaluma band, When Earth Awakes. It was great to see that the headlining band was from Petaluma. These guys came out and gave their 150% energy, regardless of the size of the crowd, these guys were their to deliver an incredible set.

Their music brings a spotlight on this local band as a great blend of hardcore/metalcore. One of the highlights of their set was when they performed an amazing cover of One Republic’s Counting Stars. Talk about a band taking a cover and truly making their own, that is exactly what these guys do. Check out the video here:

They may be fairly new, but they are definitely one band to take notice and watch them as they embark on the rise through their musical journey. We picked up their EP at the show and it is stellar. With heavy tracks like The Human Condition and Destroy & Rebuild, you will find yourself being infected with the energy and truly awaken your senses. You can pick up the EP on their merch webstore here: http://whenearthawakes.bigcartel.com/.

Check out photos by our Rockin Ryan of their set:

Metal hardcore band, Sirens & Sailors from New York are currently out on tour in Europe with To Kill Achilles and Archetype, and have endured a break in of their tour van. For any touring band, being away from home and having this happen is devastating. Now imagine it happening in another country, so far from home! Please read their recent post on their Facebook page and see how you can help:

* * * *

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you would be so kind as to please take the time to read this, it could make a gigantic difference in our lives today.

It is every bands nightmare to come back to their van and see that it has been broken into and robbed, and today that nightmare has become reality for us. To add to it, we are overseas in completely foreign territory feeling more helpless than ever.

Every single dollar we brought with us, every single penny that we have earned over the past month of touring overseas has been stolen. Licenses, credit cards, essential medical supplies, laptops, electronic equipment, even down to our toiletries, GONE. In a matter of minutes, our livelihood has been taken from us. Our dream come true has become the exact opposite.

We have always been against starting a kick starter or any sort of band funding besides playing shows and selling merch, like any touring band should earn their keep. We have done it successfully for years now, but today we have no choice, and no other option.

If you would like to help us in any sort of way, whether it’s something as easy as sharing this post so others can see it, or if you would like to donate to help us in any amount you can, here is our PayPal information to do so:

PayPal account: thesirensandthesailors@yahoo.com

Please click “Friends & Family” so you do not get taxed for your donation.

There are really no words to describe what we are feeling at this moment, and we are so grateful for all of you and the support you have given us throughout the years. Thank you.

SIRENS & SAILORS

sirens

We have sent over a donation to assist them with them and hope you can too, or maybe share the post or this article so it may reach others who can help. It such a horrible feeling to have been robbed, it is not only a feeling of being violated when it is your personal property like licenses, ids, etc but you feel helpless and at a complete loss. We hope and know that this strong band will rise above this and I trust that all of us and their fans can help them through this challenging time.

We have been looking forward to seeing Sirens & Sailors in October when they make a stop in Sacramento at The Assembly on October 24th with Beartooth. You can visit their Facebook page for a list of upcoming tour dates. Check out the video for their song, The Chosen One:

If you don’t already have it pick up their Skeletons CD on iTunes here or through their merch site here. Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news.
