We are getting really close to the release of the new CD, Golden from blues rockers Delta Rose. This is one album that is well worth the wait! The album is set to release on December 2nd but you can get your pre-order in NOW by visiting their website: http://www.deltaroseusa.com/. This past year it seemed that many things were said about Rock n Roll, from it being dead, or no new bands, etc. Well you can forget about all that! Rock n Roll is alive and thriving and when you take a listen to the new album from Delta Rose, you will strongly agree with me. They have such a welcoming sound that you just can’t wait to tell all your friends about them.

Earlier this year, Delta Rose had the great honors of opening for Guns n Roses  at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. They delivered a top notch set and have everyone leaving the venue, knowing who Delta Rose is! They always perform a kick ass set and Delta Rose is one of the best live bands out there. They are such a young band but have showmanship that is well beyond their years. While many young bands are out there creating music that sounds as if it is a carbon copy of eachother, Delta Rose is creating their own style of music. It is pure blues and rock n roll and it is addictive.

Check out their song, One Is Too Many which is off their new album, Golden :

To all the people who are crying out for new music and to bring rock and roll back to the forefront, Delta Rose is the answer to your rock and roll prayers. Their new album shows how much this band has grown in 7 years, each one perfecting their own art and have mastered their own style. As I have said before, You can feel the passion in their songs as one message rings true…. These boys are ready to ROCK! They have an upcoming show at the Canyon Club this Thursday. Check their site for more details and upcoming show dates! Check out the slide show of photos from Rockin Ryan from their Troubadour set here:

From the studio to the band, there is quite an amazing amount of talent put into this stellar album. The album was recorded at the legendary NRG Studios, mixed by Steve Hardy (Blue October, Vertical Horizon, Joe Bonamassa, and many more), mastered by iconic Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Ramones, Pantera, and many, many more). The album is produced by Bill Schleifer and Isaac Hasson. It truly is a work of art and we are even treated to Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dizzy Reed (Guns n Roses) who plays keyboards on their song 10 Long Years.

The album is filled with smoking guitar solos, cool group chants, vibrant blues licks, solid drumming, infectious basslines and the most captivating and edgy yet sweet as honey vocals you will ever hear.  Delta Rose’s new album has definitely polished and perfected true rock and roll.

So get your pre-order in and make sure to pick up a few extra copies for all your rocker friends this holiday season! It is time to spread the Delta Rose love!  For now, visit their social media sites and stay tuned for all their latest news.

They are definitely one of the hardest working bands in Los Angeles as they perform as often as they can. It is in their blood to perform as these guys definitely belong on stage and they put on a show that has you begging for more.. Also check out the bad ass tribute video that Rockin Ryan put together which features footage and photos from their set the last time we saw them at the Troubadour:

TNT

There must be some magic in the air today and the stars are all aligned because I have some awesome news to share! Tony Harnell has just announced his return as vocalist for TNT.

I have told you earlier this year about Tony Harnell & The Wildflowers featuring  Ron Bumblefoot Thal. I also loved seeing Tony perform in January at NAMM 2013 along with Cassandra Sotos and Ron.  You can check out a video which we got of their great performance  here:

Tony Harnell  has an incredibly powerful and distinctive voice that I have loved for a long time! Tony was the lead singer of the Norwegian Rock band, TNT during the highlight of their career (1984 to 2006) and has over 30 albums of experience as well as numerous awards. It is so exciting to see that he will be returning to TNT. You can read his Facebook post here announcing the news:

Tony Harnell post

So let’s all give Tony a warm WELCOME BACK and I can’t wait to find out about a US Tour!!!!

Also make sure to check out Tony Harnell & the Wildflowers EP. You can pick it up on  Itunes CDBABY or Tony Harnell’s website . On it you are treated to what I consider to be one of the most soul touching voices in music today. I have had a love affair with Tony’s voice for many years and on this EP, you have the addition of the incredible guitar work of Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal and  violinist extraordinaire Cassandra Sotos to enjoy.

The controversy over Electronic Cigarettes is heating up! For years now, many smokers have switched over to electronic cigarettes or e-cigs as they are called as to what they thought was a safer alternative.  I have had my doubts about that but recently received some confirmation.

One of my absolute favorite artists, DJ Ashba, lead guitarist for Guns n Roses, recently explained how E-cigs almost cost him his light. He was trying to quit smoking and chose to switch e-cigs which are supposed to give smokers their nicotine fix without the cancer-causing side effects as tobacco. So they don’t have tobacco but did you know that they  may have antifreeze or other dangerous chemicals in them, depending on where you buy them??   That is exactly what DJ Ashba explained when he posted a photo on his Instagram of him smoking. One follower asked about him smoking again, since they thought he quit. He replied with the following statement:

“I did quit  for 9 months. However, I was smoking fake cigarettes that I bought in a mall in Poland which contained high doses of nicotine and antifreeze, which kills people. Nobody knows this, but I was rushed to the hospital put on heart monitors and I had eight of the best doctors trying to save my life. Poison control confirmed that the nicotine intake that was going into my body from the fake cigarettes was equivalent to smoking 33 packs of cigarettes a day. After doing a full body CAT scan, the doctors were amazed that every organ in my body was in perfect condition. They advised me to start smoking real cigarettes because my body would go into shock if I just stop smoking, so now I can wean myself off of real cigarettes and hopefully quit for good this time.We purposely kept this out of the press but that is the real story of why I am smoking right now.”

That is quite a scary story. While we are grateful that DJ Ashba is back in good health, we hope that he does continue to share his story about the dangers of e-cigs.  They have become so widespread and acceptable with people thinking they are making a better choice than cigarettes but with no real data out, there is no information on whether they continue to be safe or not.

Just last year the American Lung Association issued their own warning stating: “This is a buyer stay away, a buyer health hazard, potentially.”  Electronic cigarettes are a battery operated device with the user fills it with liquid nicotine and you inhale the unit just like a cigarette. Yet there is so smoke, and you are inhaling the vapor. Yes, it is still addictive since it contains nicotine which is the addictive agent in cigarettes. Included in the liquid nicotine are the chemicals that are in question. The FDA did sample small amounts years ago and found numerous toxins as well as diethylene glycol which is what DJ Ashba is referring in his statement.

So smokers beware. Even if you are using e-cigs just understand that being so new, you just don’t know what you are getting yourself into. I truly am not preaching to anyone if they choose to smoke or not, that being a personal preference but be safe and be aware.

Everyone has been talking about how the music industry has changed so much and asking what can they do to help keep new music alive and fresh. Well, now you can directly help create music! You can take part in Tony Harnell’s new project for his EP through Pledge Music.

Tony Harnell  has an incredibly powerful and distinctive voice that I have loved for a long time! Tony was the lead singer of the Norwegian Rock band, TNT during the highlight of their career (1984 to 2006) and has over 30 albums of experience as well as numerous awards. It is great to hear about his new project. Tony is working with his beautiful and  talented wife Amy Harnell, eclectic guitarist Jason Hagen and recently added electric violinist extraordinaire Cassandra Sotos. Then to add even more awesome talent to the lineup, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal from Guns n Roses has joined the band and will be working on the new EP. Also he will be performing at upcoming shows that don’t conflict with his Guns n Roses performances. So now what you have is; an all around exceptional lineup that has you craving their music! The best part is that you can become part of the process and help to get this EP created and finished through Pledge Music.

Pledge Music is an online platform that allows fans to help their favorite artists and gain exclusive content and choose from an array of prizes or experiences based on how much  they pledge. Pledges start as little as $8 for the download or up to $15,000 for a House Concert anywhere in the world! SOMEONE in California please pledge for the House Concert and make sure to send me an invite, that would be one concert that I would not want to miss!   Please take some time and head over to Tony Harnell’s Pledge Music page and see how you can get involved and be part of making music history.

This project has me really excited and there is also another bonus. By helping fund Tony Harnell’s EP you will also be helping to eradicate the horrible disease of cancer. Through Tony’s project, he is donating 10% of the money raised after he reaches his goal to Metavivor in honor of his Mom who lost her battle with the disease in 2009. Metavivor Metastatic Breast Cancer Research helps from support groups to funding vital research and continues to give hope. Cancer affects everyone since I truly have not met anyone who has not lost someone to cancer or know of someone who is suffering from the disease. It has become like the thread through all of our lives that connects us and makes us one. It is time we pull together and do what we can to fight this disease and you can enjoy great music at the same time.

Take a peak at Tony’s video for his project:

Now, how about enjoying some video from Cassandra Sotos, the Greek Violin Goddess:

So, let’s make some music together and get Tony Harnell’s project funded!

Enjoy, Marisol

The great Neil Young and his wife Pegi have been organizing the wonderful Bridge School Benefit  for the past 25+ years in the Bay Area and held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. Over the years, I have enjoyed donating to this great cause and being able watch front and center great acts like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Sammy Hagar, Sonic Youth, Pearl Jam, Billy Idol, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM, Foo Fighters and so many more great bands….. Have you gotten your cabin booked yet for the Kiss Kruise?? Well, I know that if I could I would be there!! Yes, I have grown up listening to Kiss and do like their music but the number one reason for me to be there would be to see the Debut of Steven Adler’s new band; Adler.  Adler was recently added to the 2nd Kiss Kruise which is set to sail October 31, 2012 – November 4, 2012 departing from Miami, FL with a destination of Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas onboard the Norwegian Pearl.

This will be the first live performance of Adler and after watching their video for their first single, ‘The One that you Hated” I am sure everyone is excited to see this band.  When you listen to them you can really appreciate the formation of an incredible band. You have Jacob Bunton of Lynam and Mars Electric on vocals whose voice reminds me of one of my favorite vocalists – Tommy Girvin (Tommy Girvin -Bulldozer Sessions and Eddie Money band), guitarist Lonny Paul (who I enjoyed watching with Steven Adler’s Appetite band last year),Johnny Martin of Chelsea Smiles who rocks on the bass and the incredibly awesome drumming of none other than the great Steven Adler! Steven is a force not to be reckoned with as he brings together a band that delivers an honest rock and roll sound that you are sure to fall in love with. These guys just kick ass!

The debut record of Adler is set to release later this year and was produced by Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, Dokken). There will even be guest appreances by Steven’s former Guns ‘n Roses bandmate; Slash and the great John 5 formerly of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie. Their first single “The One That you Hated” is available now on Itunes and you can watch a video of Alder on their youtube channel. I will keep you updated as to the upcoming release date and possibly an interview.  This is one album that I will be anxiously waiting for. Last year when I saw Steven Adler with Adler’s Appetite it was a great show and Steven’s energy filled the room and Lonny Paul was incredible to watch live! Here is the link for the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPEu2fhNONM&feature=plcp

So if you can, make sure to head over to the Kiss Kruise website and get your tickets to this amazing cruise and a chance to see the first live Adler show! If you do, make sure to send me some pictures and let me know how it was. For now, get on Itunes and download their single and make sure to follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

~ Keep it loud,     Marisol

We all know about how successful Motley Crue’s residency shows at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas were earlier this year. They had performed 12 incredible shows and we all were waiting for them to return. Well, it has just been announced that the Hard Rock Hotel will be housing another incredible 80’s Rock band for a residency later this year. Guns n Roses announced on their website yesterday that they will be taking up residency at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas with shows starting on Halloween (Oct. 31st) and conclude November 24th. Their residency is aptly titled “Appetite for Democracy”.

I know how so many people have been waiting and waiting for a return of the original lineup but as we all know; you have better chances of winning the lottery! I know many fans have stated how they wouldn’t go see GnR unless it was an original lineup and I don’t feel that way. Guns N Roses was a big part of my growing up. Their music was my therapy during my teen years and then was my party music in my 20s. I never did get to see them live which I regret since I had several opportunities and always dismissed them with “I will catch them next time”. Then the lineups changed and there was never really a next time!  Also, the current line-up is worth seeing as well with DJ Ashba (guitar), Dizzy Reed (keyboards), Tommy Stinson (bass), Richard Fortus (guitar), Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (guitar), Chris Pitman (keyboards) and Frank Ferrer (drums).   I support all the original Guns n Roses members and have seen Steven Adler with his band; Adler’s Appetite and hope to see his new band; Adler.  I am going to see Slash with Myles Kennedy later this year at the Fox Theatre in Oakland and when Duff McKagan’s band; Loaded  or Izzy Stradlin’s solo work comes around I will be there too.

I will definitely be going to Vegas in November to catch a show or maybe a couple. My son Ryan loves old GnR and new GnR so it will be a great time. Just for the chance to possibly hear “November Rain” live is enough of an invitation for me. That song is so dear to my heart since I played it over and over after losing my little daughter Julia at birth on a cold November rainy day.  Check out the video for my favorite song:  “November Rain” which unfortunately you have to sit through a few seconds of advertisement but in my mind is worth it! Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SbUC-UaAxE

My Top Ten Favorite Guns n Roses songs in addition to November Rain are as follows:

10. Rocket Queen

9. Civil War

8. You Could be Mine

7. Knockin on Heaven’s Door

6. Patience

5. Used to Love her

4. Sweet Child of Mine

3. Yesterdays

2. Better

1. Paradise City

So why not come on out and join me for some great rock at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas! Tickets go on sale this Friday. For more information on tickets, dates and VIP packages; head over to the events page at GnR website at www.gunsnroses.com
