The Bad Suns from Southern California just released their new video for their song, Salt. It is an amazingly powerful and impressive video. The song has a great uptempo uplifting vibe and yet carries such depth through the dark lyrics. The video truly brings those lyrics to life as it takes you on a tumultuous journey through a young transgender eyes as he struggles with gender identity. It is such a great video that I absolutely love! Check it out here:

The song is off their debut album, Language and Perspective which was released earlier this year. You can head over to iTunes here and pick it up. Bad Suns will soon be announcing dates for their headline tour of 2015 and I can’t wait to see them again. Our friends in New Politics have just released their new music video for their song, Everywhere I Go, (Kings and Queens). You will even catch Thanks to The Walking Dead’s Christian Serratos, pro skater Ben Hatchell, and LOLO in it. So check it out here:

New Politics are currently out on their headlining tour with Bad Suns and SomeKindaWonderful. In case you missed it, check out a repost of our coverage from their San Francisco show:

* * * * * * *

New Politics are out on another headlining tour which will take them across the country. Sunday night they made a stop in San Francisco and performed at the legendary Fillmore. It was great to see them headline at the Fillmore when only a few years ago, they were there opening for The Dirty Heads. From the first time, we saw New Politics open for The Spill Canvas at Slim’s in 2010. They blew us away as we dubbed them “Energizer Bunny Meets Nirvana”.

They put on one of the most energetic, engaging sets that you don’t ever want to miss. Once again at the Fillmore, they exceeded all of our expectations and delivered a top notch set. Check out a sneak peek of photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

Their set included old and new songs which had the crowd brimming with excitement. It was great to hear the crowd singing along to their new song, Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens) which will be featured on their upcoming new album, VIkings set for a release in February 2015 on DCD2/Warner Bros records.  They even brought the house down as they performed a cover of Beastie Boys Sabotage. What a night it was and I truly am proud to see how far these young men have come. They are definitely one of the hardest working bands out there and it is no surprise to see their fast rise to the top. They deserve it!

The tour included their special guests of Bad Suns and SomeKindaWonderful.   Check out the dates below and see if they will be coming to a venue near you:

11/12 St. Louis, MO @ The Pageant ( Tickets )
11/13 Minneapolis, MN @ Varsity Theater ( Tickets )

11/28 Buffalo, NY @ Town Ballroom ( Tickets )
11/29 Philadelphia, PA @ Theater of Living Arts ( Tickets )
11/30 Hartford, CT @ Webster Theater ( Tickets )

Make sure to catch them out on tour. I know I always tell you to make sure to get out to shows, but SERIOUSLY this is one show you WANT to BE AT!  New Politics are amazing with their live performances and their stage presence I think is one that can be matched.  You can’t help but leave their show in a better mood, better place, or just full of energy and excitement, regardless of what you may be going through. Their music is like instant adrenaline and bliss.

Have you ever seen our interview with them at last year’s Uproar Festival? If not, check it out h ere:

Also make sure you have their latest CD, “A Bad Girl in Harlem” which will have your energy flowing within seconds! You can get it here on Itunes.  Definitely on replay at our house.

SomeKindaWonderful are currently entertaining crowds across the country with their genre-bending music that injects energy into every listener and brings them to life.  They are currently out on the 34 date US Fall tour opening for New Politics and Bad Suns.  This past weekend, they made a stop in San Francisco and performed at the legendary Fillmore.  It was amazing to see finally catch this band live. SomeKindaWonderful is:

  • Jordy Towers – Vocals/lyrics

  • Ben Schigel – Drums

Their refreshing sound will become true music to your ears as they jump start your love of all music. The crowd went wild at the Fillmore and even more so when they performed their hit, Reverse which is a love story gone wrong – written chronologically backwards.  “I don’t think anyone’s ever written a song backwards before,” Jordy explains about writing Reverse. “It was the first song we wrote together as a band, the night we met; that was the song we wrote and we didn’t even know each other. We met in the bar writing that song. It kind of set the tone for us. Before we even thought of putting out a single or doing anything…that was our song.” Each member stands out on the stage with their magnetic personalities exhibiting captivating stage presence. For an opening band, you could not have asked for anything more as they really pumped up the crowd and started the night off right.  We had the chance to interview them before their set and are going to be bringing that to you later this week. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

We recently told you about the awesome Gerard Way concert at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco. You can read more about that here: Gerard Way at the Fillmore.  What I really wanted to tell you more about, is the opening band on his tour, The Eeries. We had the chance to catch them perform at  Aftershock Festival in Sacramento and I was glad to see them again. They were incredible and were definite crowd pleasers.

Their impressive set was energetic from start to finish. The guitarist/vocalist, Isaiah was recovering from pneumonia but with the intensity and passion he brought to the stage, there was no evidence of being sick. He was spot on and had that crowd fired up for each song. Their sound reminded me of a blend of Nirvana and Beck. This is one band I strongly urge you to check out, they are well deserving of your attention! . Check out some killer photos by our Rockin Ryan of their set:

The legendary Fillmore is filled with wall to wall posters of amazing musicians and Sunday night, the magic and beauty on the stage was created by none other than Gerard Way. The venue was packed and there were fans who waited in line most of the day, as they happily took their place on the barrier in front of the stage. Check out the setlist for the night:

Gerard has such a charismatic personality and the crowd went wild from the moment he stepped onto that stage. The band came out in their matching white dress shirts and ties, all sharply dressed and ready to conquer the set. Gerard took the stage in his dapper attire and the entire venue was filled with loud cheers and screams. Everyone was so excited to witness and be part of Gerard‘s first solo tour and he exceeded any and all expectations we might have had. He completely blew everyone away with his performance. He has such an intense passion when he sings that you are just captivated by his magnetic charm.

Gerard’s vocals carry such emotion and it is no wonder that so many fans feel such a connection when he sings. He brings out the complete honesty in his music, which is somewhat lacking in today’s music scene.  Song after song, the crowd sang along and raised the energy to insurmountable levels. What an amazing night that I will not soon forget. We stayed until the last note was played and we were lucky enough to get out in time and be one of the proud recipients of the traditional Fillmore Venue Poster. Check out the poster here:

The new album World On Fire from Slash ft. Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators is out now! This is one album that I was waiting for and it definitely exceeded all my expectations. The album features a complete 17 songs that do not disappoint, each one ready to rock your world. You can’t help but rock out to the signature crunchy riffs of Slash, the most powerful vocals of Myles and songs that will take you on a rockin ride.

The album truly has a more cohesive band element and not a feature alone of Slash. It is truly a full body of work that will capture your attention from start to finish. The first single World On Fire garnered a lot of great attention since it’s first release, and the rest of the album followed suit and did not falter in any way. Some of my faves so far are 30 Years to Life, Stone Blind, Dirty Girl, Too Far Gone, and Avalon. It is also so hard to choose because it is such a complete body of work that contains a vast array of songs to choose from. When Slash puts out his albums, he treats his listener to a FULL album, not just 10 or 11 songs, he brings the full buffet of rockin songs!

You can stream the album this week through USA Today by heading over here: http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2014/09/16/slash-conspirators-world-on-fire-album-premiere/15692315/

SiriusXM is hosting “SLASH Week,” the week-long special on SiriusXM’s Octane channel celebrating the release of WORLD ON FIRE. SLASH and his band performed a private show last night (Sept 15) at Santos Party House in New York City. The concert is available on SiriusXM On Demand via the SiriusXM Internet Radio App for smartphones and other mobile devices or online at Siriusxm.com. “SLASH Week” also features SLASH hosting a live special from the SiriusXM studios–with special co-host MYLES KENNEDY, lead singer of SLASH’s band The Conspirators.  Every hour today (Sept 16) Sirius Octane will debut tracks from his new album WORLD ON FIRE. On Friday, September 19 at 6:00 pm ET, SLASH will guest host on Ozzy Osbourne’s SiriusXM channel “Ozzy’s Boneyard.”  SLASH will spin tunes from his storied rock career and tell the stories behind the songs.  Hear SLASH with Guns N’ Roses, Slash’s Snakepit, Velvet Revolver, and tracks from his new album WORLD ON FIRE all weekend long.

Beginning Tuesday, September 23, SLASH will celebrate the release of WORLD ON FIRE by returning to the iconic guitarist’s stomping grounds with a series of three very special sold-out club shows: September 23 (The Troubadour) and then, moving up the hill to the world-famous Sunset Strip, September 25 (The Roxy) and September 26 (The Whisky A Go Go).

We were lucky enough to catch Slash ft. Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators when they performed a last minute show at The Fillmore due to Aerosmith having to cancel their Concord show for health reasons. It was amazing to imagine that the concert was only five hours in the planning and it went off without a hitch. The crowd included many fans who were supposed to be at the Concord show and raced over once they heard the official announcement as well as fans who were not able to afford the Concord show or get good tickets. They were then treated to a night full of stellar rock n roll that included a set that lasted well over 2 hours. Check out a slideshow of photos by our Rockin Ryan of their set:

Make sure to head over to iTunes and pick up your copy of World on Fire, it is pure aural porn and will have you in a dizzying rock n roll spell.  Visit their social media sites so you can stay up to date on their latest news.  I will leave you with a video of Slash and Myles performing an acoustic version of Bent to Fly at Planet Rock Live Sessions.
