Concert Review

Escape The Fate w. New Years Day and Glamour Of The Kill at STROM, Munich

Doors opened right on time at 8.30 pm, which is unusually late for a show. The start was announced for 9.30 pm, but already at 9 pm New Years Day started playing. It was their first time in Germany, as singer Ash Costella told, but they were not completely unknown to part of the audience that sang along their songs.

Next up were Glamour Of The Kill from the UK. It’s been their second time in Germany. Last time they came here, they opened up for Papa Roach. Jacoby Shaddix, the singer of Papa Roach, makes an appearance on GOTK’s new single Out of Control which they also played that night, along with well known songs like Second Chance and Freak Like Me. They had to fight with some technical difficulties during their set, but they managed to keep the crowd going, asking for someone to bring 4 Tequilas to the stage, to which two people from the audience happily obliged. They played an energetic set. It was fun watching them and they promised to come back in 2015. Considering how the crowd responded, they’ll sure have no problems to fill small clubs with their own fans.

It was already about 11 pm when Escape The Fate started their set. With every band that evening the crowd got tighter and with the opening tunes of Chose Your Fate you felt the tension rise. It was only a really small club that was filled up, but not sold out. The atmosphere was great. There were circle pits and they even managed a wall of death. The audience knew every word of every single song. They played most of their popular songs like One For the Money, Issues, Ungrateful, Until We Die and also two slower songs Picture Perfect and Something. The set-list was a mix through all of their records, with a focus on Ungrateful though.  It was a fast, well played set. Band and audience obviously had fun, but after about 60 minutes it was over.  By midnight most people were already on their way home, some stayed to talk to the bands that invited the audience to stay and chat.

All in all it was a good show, a bit of a shorter set but nevertheless a fun evening.

One band we wanted to make sure to see at Aftershock Festival was none other than Escape the Fate. They have been longtime favorites of ours and to see them perform at this year’s Aftershock was a true highlight. They conquered the 100+ temps and delivered the fans a powerful energetic set. They came right out and started off with my favorite track, You’re Insane. The crowd went wild and if you didn’t think they could get any louder, they did. Everyone was moving around and singing along when they played another favorite, Gorgeous Nightmare. Check out photos from the set by our Rockin Ryan here:

The setlist included the following:

  • You’re Insane
  • Gorgeous Nightmare
  • One For The Money
  • Ungrateful
  • Issues
  • The Aftermath (G3)

Escape the Fate will be heading out on tour in Europe with Glamour of the Kill and New Years Day. The tour starts on October 7th in Norwich, United KIngdom and ends on October 30th. Check the dates below and see if you will be lucky enough to catch a show with this awesome lineup.

Max Green, bassist and original member of Escape The Fate has announced once again his departure from Escape The Fate. Max said in a statement released by Alternative Press the following:

“So it comes with a heavy heart that I have to announce my departure from Escape The Fate. This decision of mine did not come hastily,  it had been something ive fought back amd forth with since my return to the band earlier this year. The guys are great, and they do great at what they do, but for me personally, the vision i had for thia band in the begining is far far from what it is today and I know that times change but I cant help feeling unfulfilled at the end of the day when I lay my head down to sleep. I love, LOVE my fans more than almost anything in this world and I thank them for welcoming me back and this is not me quitting music, I promise youll all be seeing me again. At the end of the day I have to do whats best for my life and my wellbeing.  I want everyone to know that im not on drugs, im doing great and am in a great positive state of mind abiut this decision. ….in the words of a true las vegas native….you got to know when to hold em, and know when to fold em. Thank you, I love you and will be seeing you soon”

We had the chance to catch Max when he performed with Escape The Fate  on the Bury The Hatchet Tour with Falling In Reverse as well as when Escape The Fate performed with New Years Day and Eve To Adam in Sacramento.  Check out the tribute videos that Rockin Ryan made from the last times we caught Escape the Fate with Max.

We wish all the best to Max and hope we get to hear some more music from him soon. Maybe some Violent New Breed in the works?? I hope so!!!

Tour

Two of my favorite bands are teaming up for a co-headlining tour. Just this morning we received the word that Pop Evil and Escape the Fate will be hitting the road in April.  We are hoping to see some West Coast dates added too since we need our fix of both these bad ass bands! The tour will also feature special guests Avatar and Glamour of the Kill.

Pop Evil have been busy touring in support of their album ONYX as well as recently collaborating with legendary artist DMC who recently remixed their No. 1 hit single, Trenches.  The remix will be feature on the opening video montage prior to each game for the ACC Network telecasts. You can watch the video clip  here.  We also caught a quick interview with a couple of the guys at last year’s Aftershock Festival and we have some great photos you can check out here. Here is our interview from Aftershock Festival with Nick and Chachi:

Escape the Fate have been busy as well touring. We caught them twice last month, once on the Bury the Hatchet tour with Falling in Reverse and then their headlining show with New Years Day and Eve to Adam. Both were great shows. You can check out our coverage on the shows here and I will leave you with a video featuring photos and footage from their Sacramento set.

You can check out the following tribute videos by Rockin Ryan that feature photos as well as footage from their set:

So make sure to mark your calendars and not miss this great tour! Visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news and if more dates will be announced.

Information & Links:

We were able to catch Escape The Fate twice in one week last month. First we caught them performing to a sold out crowd at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco for the Bury the Hatchet Tour with Falling in Reverse, Chelsea Grin and Survive This!  We then caught them at a packed house at the Ace of Spades in Sacramento for a show with Eve to Adam, New Years Day and Track Fighter.

It was great to see Escape the Fate headlining the show at the Ace of Spades. It was packed with a crowd of all ages as everyone song along and the energy was magnetic. Of course the highlight for us was to see the return of Max “The Ripper” Green as he pounded out slamming bass lines and moved around the stage like a fierce animal. He truly did own that stage that night and we were all under his spell.
