SomeKindaWonderful are currently entertaining crowds across the country with their genre-bending music that injects energy into every listener and brings them to life.  They are currently out on the 34 date US Fall tour opening for New Politics and Bad Suns.  This past weekend, they made a stop in San Francisco and performed at the legendary Fillmore.  It was amazing to see finally catch this band live. SomeKindaWonderful is:

  • Jordy Towers – Vocals/lyrics
  • Matt Gibson – Guitar
  • Ben Schigel – Drums
  • Justin Andres – Bass/Keys
  • Sarah Dryer – Vocals/Percussion

These five are pure entertainment when they hit the stage. You cannot categorize them simply by placing them in a genre checkbox, they bring so many great elements of alternative, rock, hip hop, soul, grunge and so much more. Their refreshing sound will become true music to your ears as they jump start your love of all music. The crowd went wild at the Fillmore and even more so when they performed their hit, Reverse which is a love story gone wrong – written chronologically backwards.  “I don’t think anyone’s ever written a song backwards before,” Jordy explains about writing Reverse. “It was the first song we wrote together as a band, the night we met; that was the song we wrote and we didn’t even know each other. We met in the bar writing that song. It kind of set the tone for us. Before we even thought of putting out a single or doing anything…that was our song.” Each member stands out on the stage with their magnetic personalities exhibiting captivating stage presence. For an opening band, you could not have asked for anything more as they really pumped up the crowd and started the night off right.  We had the chance to interview them before their set and are going to be bringing that to you later this week. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

The drive down to San Francisco this past Saturday was filled with cranky drivers maneuvering the streets sprinkled with the first rain. We made sure to head down early since Game 4 of the World Series was being held at the AT&T park and we were not going to let anything get in our way of seeing Alter Bridge at The Warfield. We made it to the venue as the line was beginning to wrap around Market St. It was great to see the heavy turnout arriving pre-show to make sure they caught Like A Storm and California Breed, both delivering spectacular sets.

Alter Bridge hit the stage and the crowd went wild. They treated everyone to a 17 song set inclusive of fan favorites as well as many new songs off their recent release, Fortress. The crowd was filled with fans of all ages and the energy in The Warfield intensified with each song. The vocals of Myles are spot on and proves why he is still my all time favorite vocalist. Mark was fierce as he delivered smoking guitar solos alongside the charismatic bass playing of Brian and tying it all together was the precision drumming of Scott. The setlist for the night included:

  • Addicted to Pain
  • Come To Life
  • Farther From the Sun
  • Cry of Achilles
  • Brand New Start
  • Ghosts Of Days Gone By
  • Fortress
  • Ties That Bind
  • Waters Rising
  • Metalingus
  • BlackBird
  • Watch Over You
  • Isolation
  • Open Your Eyes
  • Find The Real
  • Highway Star with Glenn Hughes
  • Rise Today

I couldn’t have asked for a more complete straight up rockin set. It was amazing and when Glenn came out to sing Highway Star with the band during the encore, I was just in chills. What a perfect way to cap off this evening, absolute musical bliss. I definitely received my fix of Alter Bridge but now, I am ready for more! Good thing, I can crank up Fortress loud for the neighbors to all enjoy as well. Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set:

Matt Nathanson recently made a trip to Peru with the Starkey Hearing Foundation on a mission to fit people with free hearing aids. As Matt says,

” i’ve been trying to write a short piece
about my experience for weeks now.
it’s been really hard. words kinda fail it.
if i didn’t have my hearing, i wouldn’t have music.
and if i didn’t have music, i definitely wouldn’t have
survived my childhood. listening to albums and
seeing bands and being connected to songs was
EVERYTHING to me. it still is. it makes me feel not
alone. it helps me transcend my broken brain.
in fact, the only reason i play music is because i
love it so much. i couldn’t stay on the sidelines,
i HAVE to be a part of it.

Going to peru was super heavy.
the people were incredible.
to be in service to them, to assist in
connecting them to their kids laughter,
to their parents voices, to MUSIC!…
it was completely humbling.
and overwhelming.
i felt love and gratitude towards other human
beings on a level i’ve never experienced.

see? it’s really hard to put into words…
so i’m glad we shot footage and made a video while
we were there. it does a WAY better job explaining
than i ever could.”

Matt released a video for his song, Headphones featuring LoLo and it includes the footage from his trip to Peru. As you may not know, I am 100% Peruvian so it really is great to see the wonderful work that he and the Starkey Hearing Foundation has done. 100% of artist and label proceeds from this video are being donated to Starkey Hearing Foundation. For more information on how you can help, go to

Download the song on iTunes Amazon on Spotify

Check out the video here:

What an amazingly inspirational video and truly heartwarming! Matt is currently in London working on the next record and we truly can’t wait for it. Make sure to visit his social media sites and stay up to date on his latest news.

Kenneth J. Nash

For anyone who has turned to music to comfort themselves, silence a fear, escape from the pain or just to feed their soul, Kenneth J. Nash delivers the best medicine.  Kenneth is no stranger to the music scene and has written and released several LPs over the past few years. He is an English singer songwriter that has captured my attention with his beautiful words and soul touching songs.

Kenneth shares his journey through depression, loneliness, vengeful feelings and provides a message of hope to everyone that they too can get through these times.  His smooth voice is like a warm embrace that keeps you safe from harm. His music literally takes me back in time to when I might come home from school with a bruised knee or a broken heart and I would run into my father’s arms and just feel all my troubles melt away. That is what I feel when I listen to Kenneth; safety, peace and just pure bliss. His music is truly a poetic embodiment of perfection.”

It was almost two years ago that I wrote the above after discovering the amazing music of Kenneth J. Nash and it rings even truer with the display of Kenneth’s amazing songwriting and vocals on his new album, The Fall of Eden. The album was released on October 1st and is available on iTunes, Amazon, Soundcloud, Spotify, and Deezer.

Kenneth’s voice captures pure raw emotion and through his lyrics and beautiful music, you can’t help but feel yourself being taken away through his musical journey. Whether it is through the intense vulnerability of Slow Burn or  through the longing lost heart in Take Me Home. Take Me Home is such a soul bearing song that has a veil of solemn longing , truly magical track. St. Mary’s Heart paints the perfect picture of looking back at that tender wedding day as your heart floods with emotion.

The words of Dignity brings to you the much needed self reflection and is a charming song. Some of my favorite lyrics of the song are:

“Not so long ago I was that soul

With no one and nowhere to go

Spending hour after hour on my own

Because I just couldn’t let it go”

The Way That She Moved is a beautiful track that captures a depth of love and with the ambient atmosphere of the soothing sounds of the ocean, you can’t help but feel yourself being taken away to an almost ethereal place of bliss and euphoria. One of my favorite tracks.

Come Show Me Your Love is the song to feed your soul, give you hope after you have felt such despair. It will open your eyes to the light and have you release the fear. Another musical gem.

The Fall of Eden pt. 2 is my favorite track on the song as it completely draws out all the honesty of what is and what was and you can feel the burdens being lifted. Beautiful in every sense as you take a turn down an unfamiliar new path. The endearing music box orchestration at the end is the perfect closing to this masterpiece.

All the tracks on this album will speak to you and whatever you are feeling, whatever challenges you are facing, the music of Kenneth J. Nash will comfort you and make you not feel so alone in this world. It is the magic of his music where you can literally feel the warmth of his words wrap around you life a safe blanket.

I  hope you get a chance to pick up the new album and fall in love with it as much as I have.

Enjoy the beauty of Kenneth J. Nash,
