Rockers SINEMA from Birmingham, Alabama have just premiered their new song, Between Heaven & Hell which features Craig Mabbitt. This song is a dose of straight up rock n roll that you need! This band is definitely bringing back that eighties style rock that never gets old. No need to dig up your eighties vinyls, just crank up SINEMA and start rockin!  It is an energetic track featuring fierce guitar riffs, gruff 80’s style vocals that grab your attention and will bring back the rock n roll to your soul. Of course, we also love Craig in it and you can never get enough Craig Mabbitt! Check out the song here:

We had the chance to chat with bassist, Nathan Howell and hope it gives you a chance to get to know more about SINEMA:

* * * * *

Music Junkie Press: Thank you very much for taking the time out to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press. We have been loving the new song Between Heaven and Hell featuring Craig Mabbitt. Can you tell us about how that came about?

Nathan: Well we all decided to take a trip to Atlanta together to see Escape the Fate on their co-headliner with Falling in Reverse. I know we had all been wanting it to happen, so we took a chance. After the show Ryan talked to Craig about it, he said yes, and a couple months later we had Craig in the studio.

Music Junkie Press: That is so awesome! You guys are all fairly young but have a strong handle on true rock n roll, where did your love for the classic and 80′ style rock form?

Nathan: I think that sound was what really got Ryan to want to start a band. His favorite band is KISS, he’s even got the Kiss Army logo tattooed. That and our combined love for bands like Motley Crue, I feel, had a big influence on the way the lyrics were written, and eventually the songs were formed. It helps that Andrew and myself are also pretty big fans of 80s music. We combined that with our love of some modern rock to make the High Times EP.

Music Junkie Press: I am so glad to see the youth of today embrace the music of my youth and especially to create their own music with those influences. With the song, Between Heaven and Hell, you completely rock and have some heavy riffs and emotionally driven lyrics, can you tell us more about what the song means to you?

Nathan: This song is really important to me. The lyrics are about not knowing what to do, or how to go forward in life. It’s about staying true to your dreams even if you’re constantly told you won’t make it.

Music Junkie Press: We all need a push like that and advice to remind us to forge ahead. Great song. What is SINEMA currently working on?

Nathan: Well we’ve got a few big things coming up. We are always working on booking shows. We want to break out of the local scene so we can start making an impression. That might happen sooner than most people think. We are gonna have an awesome new shirt designed by our good friend Zach Vaughn. We also have an album we’ve been working on. We’ve had a few difficulties getting it finished, but it will get done, and it’ll be great. We are also planning on making a music video pretty soon. That’s going to be insane.

Music Junkie Press: That is exciting and we can’t wait for the new album. Do you have any upcoming shows planned?

Nathan: As of right now we have a show with Tantric on October 21st, and a local festival called HallowsFest on October 25th. We have a few more lined up, they just aren’t confirmed yet.

Music Junkie Press: We will make sure to share the date for those shows! If you could put together your dream lineup, what three bands would you like to tour with?

Nathan: Well I know Cody and Ryan would say Pantera, if that were possible. Escape the Fate obviously, and Motley Crue. There’s so many others though it’s really hard to decide.

Music Junkie Press: The music scene has had some dramatic changes in the past 15 years, what is something that you would like to see changed?

Nathan: Well I’d definitely like to see more people interested in rock music. Not just your “whatever”-core bands, though there’s nothing wrong with those bands. And more people buying music instead of pirating it, it’s pretty cheap compared to most things.

Music Junkie Press: I agree, we truly need fans to buy the music and put an end to this pirating. If they only knew how it affects the musicians and the entire industry. For those who are not familiar with SINEMA, what can you tell them to expect?

Nathan: Expect some hard in your face rock and roll. Our live shows are constantly getting more and more interesting. We are so much more than just an average local band, and we are willing to prove that.

Music Junkie Press: Hell yes! We love the energy you guys have and can’t wait for you to make it out here to California! If we could peak into your Ipod, what artist or song would we be most surprised at finding in there?

Nathan: Well for me it’s probably Matchbox Twenty or Lady Gaga.

Music Junkie Press: Lastly, what would you like to share with your fans and our audience?

Nathan: First, we would like to thank anyone who has been to a live show. It means a lot that you would take time from doing whatever else you could be doing and spending it with us. To our fans, we love you more than you know. It still blows my mind that people connect with us on this level, it’s probably the driving factor that keeps us going. It’s a cliche that every band that has ever existed has said a million times, but without fans we would be nothing, and that’s the truth. And to your audience, we hope that you like what we’ve created. We would love to meet and make as many new fans as possible. We are all friendly people and love talking to people and making new friends.

It is great to see a young band with such passion and determination as the guys in SINEMA. One thing is for sure, their hard work will surely pay off as fans will not only enjoy the rock n roll they are bringing to life, but admire how they truly appreciate their fans.  You can pick up the song on iTunes here and make sure to visit their social media sites to stay up to date on their latest news.

One band we wanted to make sure to see at Aftershock Festival was none other than Escape the Fate. They have been longtime favorites of ours and to see them perform at this year’s Aftershock was a true highlight. They conquered the 100+ temps and delivered the fans a powerful energetic set. They came right out and started off with my favorite track, You’re Insane. The crowd went wild and if you didn’t think they could get any louder, they did. Everyone was moving around and singing along when they played another favorite, Gorgeous Nightmare. Check out photos from the set by our Rockin Ryan here:

The setlist included the following:

  • You’re Insane
  • Gorgeous Nightmare
  • One For The Money
  • Ungrateful
  • Issues
  • The Aftermath (G3)

Escape the Fate will be heading out on tour in Europe with Glamour of the Kill and New Years Day. The tour starts on October 7th in Norwich, United KIngdom and ends on October 30th. Check the dates below and see if you will be lucky enough to catch a show with this awesome lineup.

We can’t wait for Escape the Fate to announce more US tour dates! So get ready for some more fun. Speaking of fun, check out a couple of my favorite shots from Escape the Fate when we caught them after their set at Aftershock doing some interviews.

The highly anticipated release of the new album, Shapeshifter by The Dead Rabbitts is set for tomorrow July 1st through Tragic Hero Records.  This is one album, you are going to want to pick up.  We were excited to catch them as they made their stop in San Francisco last week for the Shapeshift Tour! They treated us to several of their new songs which were just awesome.

IMG_0265

The album starts right off with the heavy and crowd favorite My Only Regret. I love it’s cinematic style intro and then transitions into a fierce heavy dose of vocals and then right into a catchy chorus. Nothing But a Reject is a bad ass track complete with emotionally driven lyrics and one of the highlights is the ethereal choir style harmony. Craig’s vocals are so versatile and he captivates you with his powerful voice.

Another great song is  Makes Me Believe it which features Caleb Shomo. The album is filled with savage doses of metalcore  as in Shapeshifter or Bats in the Belfry complete with infectious melodies, fierce hooks and always a catch chorus as in Deer in Headlights. As I mentioned before, what is really special about their music is, that it can’t be described as simply “metalcore” because The Dead Rabbitts have brought much more depth and layers to their music. Whether it be violins, keyboards, symphonic element, they are bringing a much needed facelift to metalcore. This album is the perfect demonstration of that. It is definitely a well written, superbly executed album.  You can check out the album here and take a listen to the songs before you pick it up tomorrow:

Another standout track is The Air I Breathe is You which has an ETF feel but still maintains the Dead Rabbitts ferociousness. The guitar and drums on that track are savagely insane and has you completely immersed in the desperation of the track. I love it lyrically, musically and the intensity it delivers.

Edge of Reality is my personal fave and has a very electronic induced vibe amid the passionate emotionally driven lyrics. I love the creativity that is brought into the song through layers and tones. Definitely my fave track and I was so excited when they performed it live last week on the Shapeshiftour.

The album ends with Black Cloud and it is another bold track with catchy chorus blended with passionate scream vocals. Once again Craig takes you on a musical journey that is definitely worthy of your attention. I hope you get a chance to pick it up tomorrow and crank it up loud with us!

You can catch The Dead Rabbitts who are touring now on the Shapeshiftour in support of their new album. Check the dates below and get yourself to a show. Check out our full coverage of their stop in San Francisco here.

The Dead Rabbitts made their stop in San Francisco last night for the Shapeshift Tour! We were glad to make it to the DNA Lounge after a relentless 2 and a half hour traffic stop ride from Santa Rosa. As soon as the music hit, all our troubles went away and we were instantly in a good mood. The night started off with great sets by NightMares, Myka Relocate and The Relapse Symphony. Make sure to stay tuned for our individual band coverage coming on each of them.

Then the time came for us to receive a savage dose of metalcore complete with infectious melodies, fierce hooks and always a catch chorus. The Dead Rabbitts hit the stage.  What is really special about their music is, that it can’t be described as simply “metalcore” because The Dead Rabbitts have brought much more depth and layers to their music. Whether it be violins, keyboards, symphonic element, they are bringing a much needed facelift to metalcore.

The charismatic personality of Craig Mabbitt truly shines through his music and not mention, he is quite the comedian. Craig’s vocals can evoke a range of emotions and can take you from powerful to subtle as he sings his emotionally driven lyrics. You really are held captive by his voice.  TJ Bell is a madman on the bass as he delivers his slamming basslines and treats us to his backing vocals. Alex unleashes his energy as he tears across the stage wielding his guitar and never missing a note. The drummer, (I think Rob? whom I believe is new or possibly filling in) did a fantastic job with his precision drumming.

It is awesome to see The Dead Rabbitts on tour performing, just in time for their new album Shapeshifter set to release on July 1st. They treated us to many new songs off the album, including my personal favorite, Edge of Reality and of course the intensely ferocious Bats in the Belfry.

The energy that these guys bring out are well deserving of your attention. This is a band who enjoy performing as much as I enjoyed watching them. They bleed out the passion through their music and raise the level of adrenaline in the room. They are not to be ignored and I urge you to catch them out on the Shapeshift Tour. Get ready to unleash the intense and addictive music of The Dead Rabbitts.
