Three Days Grace recently put out the announcement that Matt Walst would be permanently joining Three Days Grace as lead singer. Even better news is that the band has been working on new music and have just released a new song, Painkiller which will be available tomorrow on Itunes. Check out the song here:

It is nice to see the band putting out new music. Of course, you will always have the fans focus on the obvious that Adam Gontier is not part of the band anymore but you need to focus on what is Three Days Grace today. We wish Adam the best in his music endeavors just as we wish all the best to Three Days Grace.  So let’s all take a listen to the new song and  pick it up tomorrow on Itunes!  One of my favorite quotes rings true: “You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading your last one.”.

So let’s look forward to the future!  I will leave you with a slideshow of our photos of Three Days Grace when they performed at the Shoreline Amphitheater back in 2011. I can’t wait to catch them on a new tour!!

We just received the news that The Pretty Reckless has pulled out of the SnoCore Tour which was set to start on January 29th in Lincoln, NE.  The Pretty Reckless was to headline the SnoCore Tour. They have announced that due to vocalist Taylor Momsen illness, they will be cancelling their appearance on the tour. Taylor has been confirmed to have acute laryngitis and walking pneumonia and has been placed on vocal rest.

The Pretty Reckless had quite a year with touring last year in pre-support of their new album Going To Hell which is set to release everywhere on March 17/18th, 2014! You can pre-order the album on their site: www.goingtohell.me/hell.

We featured The Pretty Reckless on the number 4 spot of our Countdown of 14 Bands that will rule 2014. You can read more about that here.

Touring can definitely take a lot out on you. Singer Taylor Momsen once was quoted about touring,“For me, there’s nothing better than playing a show every night. You can call it a job, I just call it a really long commute.”  We wish Taylor a speedy and full recovery and hope to catch them out on the road when she is fully recovered and ready to take over her position as Rock Goddess for 2014!

Check out this awesome tribute video that Rockin Ryan put together which features footage and photos from their San Francisco show in 2013:

The Yellow DOgs

The Yellow DOgs

Music for me always represents a way to deal with emotions ranging from hate, anger to love and bliss. I think with  music, my hope is we all can come together and can eradicate the hate and violence that is in this world today.

It is sad to hear about the tragic fatal shooting of three band members of The Yellow Dogs from Iran. This indie punk/rock band relocated from Iran and settled into Brooklyn, seeking more musical freedom and they had been quite successful at getting their high energy music out there. Recently, one of the band members who was kicked out of the band, returned to their apartment at 318 Maujer St, Brookly, NY and fatally shot the three remaining band members.Another member has been shot but is in stable condition in the hospital. Names have not been released of the gunman or the victims. The band members were reportedly shot and the shooter was found on the roof with a self inflicted gun shot to the head, with a rifle by his side. Tragic, tragic, tragic and so very sad that these young musicians had their lives/futures cut short.  Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of these young men.

Often people remember how people died and not how they lived. I want us to celebrate these young musicians and not forget about how they lived creating music and following their passion and love for their art. You can check out some of their music in the videos below which reminds me of a blend of The Kinks, The Clash, Talking Heads, great music!

BIG NEWS!!! One of my favorite bands just got even better, if you can imagine that! Danish hard rock/metal band, Volbeat just announced that Rob Caggiano of Anthrax and The Damned Things fame has joined Volbeat as their second guitarist. Rob delivers awesome heavy metal guitar and it will be incredible to see what he brings to Volbeat. Volbeat’s sound resonates sounds from punk to rockabilly wrapped in hard rock energy.

Volbeat announced the news as they were also announcing the much anticipated release date of their upcoming studio album, “Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies” on April 8th, 2013. It will be released in the USA on April 9th so make sure to mark your calendars and get your copy.  Rob Caggiano produced this new album alongside longtime production partner Jacob Hansen.

Direct from the Volbeat website:

“The band is very proud and happy to announce that he will also be the new guitar player in Volbeat. The collaboration with Rob in the studio was so inspiring and in good spirit that we the decided to keep him. Basically we went into the studio as a three piece and came out as a whole band!”

You can read more from Volbeat website and hear from Rob about the chain of events that led to his addition to the band. Rob Caggiano:

“Wow! I have to say I’m completely blown away by the turn of events over the last few weeks here in Denmark and at this point an update is definitely in order. To start with, I came to Denmark about a month ago to produce the new Volbeat record which in and of itself has been an incredibly exciting adventure from a producer’s perspective thus far. However, I’m extremely happy to say my relationship with these guys will not end there as it turns out……it’s just beginning! Michael had asked me on the phone before I got out here if I would play some guest solos on the new album in addition to my other duties and of course I was thrilled about that and agreed to do so. When I actually got to Denmark and started going through the material, this turned out to be so much more than that. After weeks of collaboration between Michael and I it became quite clear that we had an amazing creative chemistry together and a huge mutual respect for one another. It’s so refreshing and inspiring to be creative again on a songwriting level that words can’t even describe it and the vibe between Anders, Jon, Michael and I is just awesome. I’d say an artistic relationship like this one is very rare and it’s also something I don’t take for granted. When the guys asked me if I was interested in joining Volbeat the other day, my jaw just about hit the floor! It actually didn’t even register in my brain properly until the next morning but I gotta say, it also didn’t take me long to decide. It really isn’t the way I envisioned the rest of my year to play out but at the same time, THIS feels more “right” to me than anything I could have possibly imagined and I’m going for it! To all my fans, family, friends and overall supporters that have reached out to me over this last month wondering if I’m ever gonna play guitar again or what I’m up to in general etc……..See you all soon my friends and get ready for a wild ride!!!”

Well, Rob welcome to the band and we look forward to seeing you out on the road with Volbeat! I leave you with the video which we took at the Regency Ballroom San Francisco show on July 8th, 2012. First is my favorite song, “Warriors Call” and ‘Still Counting” and then their new song, “Another Day, Another Way” which I love!

~ Enjoy and keep rockin it LOUD,  Marisol

Breaking News today in the Music World and it pertains to some of my favorite bands and artists!  It was announced today on Three Days Grace Website that Adam Gontier is leaving the band and Matt Walst of My Darkest Days will be joining TDG on their upcoming tour as singer. Matt Walst is the brother of  Brad Walst, the bassist for Three Days Grace.  I know, I know, it may come as a big shock. Believe me I was extremely shocked as well, especially because there has just been so many of my favorites leaving bands or moving on, or bands breaking up.  It has been a lot to take in.

Here is the post from Three Days Grace website:

ADAM GONTIER’S “ADDRESS OF RESIGNATION” FROM THREE DAYS GRACE

To all of my fans, my friends, my family, these are my words coming from my heart, separate from my role as “lead singer of Three Days Grace”.

I want you all to know how very thankful I am for your consistent love, your respect, and you’re undying support. It is important for me to address any concerns regarding my health being connected to drugs or addiction. The truth is, when I was struggling during that dark time in my life, I hit rock bottom, and I had the kindest of people reach out from all over the world, and reach their hands out to help pick me up. I am so blessed to be walking in the light now. I am reminded of your loyalty, always. The truth is, and I’m very proud to say this…, I am sober. That chapter in my life is over.

There have been many defining moments in my life. My time as part of Three Days Grace is most definitely one of the miraculous ones. I have had so many tender hearted people share with me their stories. How I’ve touched, or changed their lives. My truth is that all of the love I have received has forever changed my life. Each letter I’ve read, every picture I’ve been sent, all of the voices I’ve heard sing along with me, I will forever remember, and never forget…

After twenty years of being part of an ever evolving band, I have been inspired by life, to move on and to continue to evolve on my own terms. I could not be more grateful for all the souls who have travelled along with me. A journey I look back on with integrity, and a future I look forward to with such hope. I have always admired brave hearts. Life is always changing. I will continue to follow my heart, and what I love to do. I’m not sure what the next horizon will look like, but I do have all the faith in the world that whatever it is, It’s meant to be, and I have faith that blessings will continue to shine over all of us. I once heard a “brave heart” say:

“When nothing is sure, everything is possible.”

It’s because of my life’s journey, because of all of you, that I believe.

Sincerely, with love,

Adam

Immediately following has been a mass of tweets, posts and updates from fans stating their disbelief, shock and well wishes.  Of course as soon as someone announces a departure from a band it seems that immediately everyone wants to point the finger at someone or play the blame game or imagine all the things that provoked this event. It really drives me crazy.

I love Matt Walst’s vocals on My Darkest Days as well as love Adam Gontier’s vocals on Three Days Grace. I also wish all the bands the best as well as Adam Gontier on his future endeavors. I would hope that everyone could join me in supporting the bands and the artists with their choices. I could only imagine what a struggle it must be to make that decision and move into uncharted waters and I think that everyone’s decision should be respected and honored.

So with that, I can’t wait to see Three Days Grace on their upcoming tour which they will be co-headlining with Shinedown. I also can’t wait to see what Adam has in store for us in his future whether it be a solo career or maybe even photography! I truly love his photos that he has shared over the years.

Here are the photos that we took from the Oct. 14, 2011 show at The Shoreline Amphitheatre.
