~ ATTENTION UNSIGNED BANDS! ~

The battle is on, as the Ernie Ball Battle Of The Bands returns to the Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival for a fourth consecutive year in 2014. The annual competition is underway now for most dates on the touring rock music and lifestyle festival, and runs through September 12 (deadlines vary by market). Bands can enter the Ernie Ball Battle Of The Bands—and fans can vote for their favorite band—at http://uproar.battleofthebands.com. Bands will be chosen one week prior to the venue they’ve selected to play.

Unsigned bands can enter to win a chance to play live on the Festival Stage at the Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival in their market this August and September. Finalists will compete for the grand prize–valued at over $15,000–which includes a coveted spot on the 2015 Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival, the opportunity to record an EP with legendary producer/mixer Jay Baumgardner at NRG Recording Studios in Hollywood, CA, a Rockford Fosgate Prize Pack, Ernie Ball Guitar String Endorsement, Music Man Instruments, and more (see below for full prize listing).

2013 Ernie Ball Battle Of The Bands winner Sons Of Revelry will be on the road with the Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival throughout the five-week trek. The Brantford, Ontario quartet—Scottish expat Toby Black (lead vocals/lead guitar), Corey Brouwer (backing vocals/rhythm guitar), Arron Rayner (bass), and Sean Boyle (drums)—have the kind of cohesiveness, camaraderie and chops that other bands would kill for. The band recently recorded a pair of EPs in the span of a month – one with world renowned producer Jay Baumgardner (Sevendust, Papa Roach, Three Days Grace, Godsmack) and the other with Canadian producer Brian Moncarz (Silverstein, Bleeker Ridge, The Reason) – and will release them as a double EP just in time for the 2014 Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival. Visit www.sonsofrevelry.com for more information.

Ernie Ball is excited to give Sons Of Revelry the opportunity to reach their dreams,” says Brian Ball, Vice President of Ernie Ball.  “As we’ve seen with previous winners Mindset Evolution and the Chuck Shaffer Picture Show, the Ernie Ball UPROAR Battle Of The Bands is a tremendous way for bands to record with a legendary producer and tour with rock’s biggest bands.”
I know a lot of bands that we have written up about across this country that are currently unsigned and I am hoping they are going to get themselves registered so we can start voting! Good luck and hope to see you at Uproar!

Our favorite local band, Faith and Bullets tore up the stage as they made their Sunset Strip debut at The Whisky a GoGo this past Friday night. We were there for the show and wouldn’t have missed it. We first featured Faith and Bullets on our Thirsty Thursdays a feature about bands who are thirsty for ROCK and the power to make it happen! This band is definitely dedicated and one of the hardest working band out here in the area.  All that hard work has paid off for them as they made down to their first of what I am sure to be, shows in Hollywood.  Here is our interview with Faith and Bullets from the Whisky a Go Go:

Faith and Bullets have a sound that blends old 80′s rock  like Motley Crue, Kiss, Poison, and Dokken with what I call “80′s on replay rock” like Crashdiet, Black Veil Brides, and Reckless Love. You have Stevie Mayhem on vocals who not only delivers incredible 80’s inspired vocals but has an amazing stage presence as well.  Rikk Alexander on lead guitar is fierce on his Ibanez guitar and and smokes away the solos! Across the stage you have Cody Sparkz wielding his guitar in the air as he plays rhythm. You are then treated to the infectious bass groove that Abel Lynch delivers. Wrapping it all up and completing the perfect sound is Ryan McKinley on drums as he smiles away with his precision drumming. These five young guys gave the crowd at the Whisky what they have been searching for….. Straight up Rock n Roll from start to finish. These guys not only have the talent but also the rock and roll look and to top it all off, they each have charismatic personalities.  Definitely the whole package!

They engaged the crowd as they played their original songs and a few covers. It was awesome to see not only the crowd but the staff and crew rockin out as well. They started off their set with the perfect song, Darker Side of Me. It has a suspenseful build-up intro that is perfect as Stevie stepped out of the shadows on the stairs into the spotlight at The Whisky. The song is an energetic and intense rock song! They also did a great job playing Motley Crue’s Looks That Kill and then had everyone singing along to Poison’s Talk Dirty to Me. They performed two new songs in their set, Can’t Stop Me Now and  Revolution. Can’t Stop Me Now is a true rock and roll anthem and after talking with the band, their pursuit of rock and roll is the inspiration behind the track. They also performed another great track, Better Off Alone.  Revolution is a song to call all rock and rollers to join the cause and keep Rock Alive!! With a band like Faith and Bullets, there is no shortage of great rock music. Check out the slideshow of Rockin Ryan’s photos from the night here:

Just two weeks ago, we brought you our Part 1 of Interview with Faith and Bullets from Manteca, California. Yes, we made you a wait a bit but we wanted to also share with you the amazing photos by Rockin Ryan from their set at the 51st Battle of the Bands Concert in Hayward. They were amazing! So without further ado, here is Part 1 and Part 2 of our Interview with Faith and Bullets:

Part 1

Part 2

They were absolutely amazing at the Battle of the Bands. These guys are definitely born and bred on rock and roll and are ready to take control! The night was filled with amazing talent and when Faith and Bullets came out they stole the show away with their true to form; ROCK N ROLL!  It was awesome. These guys delivered a high energy rock show complete with an acoustic ballad, all with the confines of three songs! They have excellent stage presence as they bring to life their rock and roll dreams. The crowd loved them and they even won the Flairy award which is given by the host, Mick Flaire as he selects the one band that made the biggest impact and impression on him. It is no surprise that Faith and Bullets were chosen since they seemed to leave quite an impression on the audience. Their message is clear, Rock and Roll is still alive and they are here to make sure it stays!

You can check out the following slide show which features photos from their set:

Last Saturday, we headed out to Chabot College in Hayward for the 51st Battle of the Bands. Did you know that Hayward holds the Record for holding the longest continuous standing Battle of the Bands? Pretty cool, isn’t that? They receive  numerous submissions and narrow it down to the final 12 who compete in the Battle of Bands competition and is quite an honor to be chosen to compete.

We went to the Battle of the Bands to check out a very new band, we recently told you about, Faith and Bullets. They were competing and we were glad to catch them perform live and also to bring you a video interview.

The night was filled with amazing talent and when Faith and Bullets came out they stole the show away with their true to form; ROCK N ROLL!  It was awesome. We are pleased to bring you the first of our 2 Part Interview with Faith and Bullets. Check it out here:

We will post Part 2 later this week with photos from Rockin Ryan. Definitely a great group of guys and together, they have a solid sound that you will love. You can also check out a video of their live performance of “Darker Side of Me” from the Battle of the Bands.
