ARCH ENEMY have announced Jeff Loomis as their new guitarist and he will be joining them on their upcoming European tour as well as all future 2015 tour dates. Jeff Loomis states: I’m very excited to be playing with ARCH ENEMY. Michael Amott and I have stayed in contact over the years since we toured together when I was playing in NEVERMORE. Not only do I admire his guitar playing and songwriting, but I also consider him a close friend. To be able to share the stage with Michael, Sharlee, Daniel and Alissa is something I’m really looking forward to. 2015 is going to be a great year… See you all on tour!

After a great year of intensive touring in support of their critically acclaimed album, War Eternal, ARCH ENEMY is parting ways with guitarist Nick Cordle, who states: With ‘War Eternal’, I believe we wrote an album together which will stand the test of time, and I wish them well for the future.”  USA fans will be able to catch a special reunion as Christopher Amott (the brother of ARCH ENEMY founder/bandleader Michael Amott) has joined the band for the remainder of their American headlining tour.  Michael Amott (guitars) comments:We all wish Nick the very best in his new endeavors and we are sure that you will hear much more from him. We’re also super grateful to my brother Christopher for stepping in to finish the current American tour!
The prospect of working with Jeff Loomis moving forward is truly awesome! Jeff Loomis is one of the best guitar players in the metal world in my opinion, as well as being a long time friend. I look forward to tearing it up on stages around the world together as we continue on the ‘War Eternal’ touring cycle throughout all next year and beyond!”

ARCH ENEMY are currently in the midst of their North American tour and we were so glad to see them make a stop in San Francisco earlier this week. They performed to a packed crowd at The Regency Ballroom. It was an absolute mindblowing set that will satisfy your every need for metal. They destroyed the venue as the energy was raised well beyond the roof and couldn’t be contained.  Vocalist Alissa White-Gluz has such a commanding stage presence that you couldn’t keep your eyes off her as she tore up the stage and insured that everyone was giving their 150% of pure metal bliss! It was fierce and the sound was spot on.

The guitars from Michael and Nick sounded so bad ass, they just infected your soul with metal and you were immediately under their spell. The magic between the two is spectacular to watch. You can’t help but have the sound intensified with the precision drumming of Daniel and of course Sharlee, a beast on the bass. Together their sound is tight and delivered in such a manner that you are not only left well satisfied but the glutton in you can’t help but beg for more! Check out a photo slideshow  from our Rockin Ryan of the set:

They have several more shows remaining on the tour and I would highly recommend getting yourself to a show. The tour includes amazing sets from Starkill, Huntress, and an over the top set from Kreator.

Max Green, bassist and original member of Escape The Fate has announced once again his departure from Escape The Fate. Max said in a statement released by Alternative Press the following:

“So it comes with a heavy heart that I have to announce my departure from Escape The Fate. This decision of mine did not come hastily,  it had been something ive fought back amd forth with since my return to the band earlier this year. The guys are great, and they do great at what they do, but for me personally, the vision i had for thia band in the begining is far far from what it is today and I know that times change but I cant help feeling unfulfilled at the end of the day when I lay my head down to sleep. I love, LOVE my fans more than almost anything in this world and I thank them for welcoming me back and this is not me quitting music, I promise youll all be seeing me again. At the end of the day I have to do whats best for my life and my wellbeing.  I want everyone to know that im not on drugs, im doing great and am in a great positive state of mind abiut this decision. ….in the words of a true las vegas native….you got to know when to hold em, and know when to fold em. Thank you, I love you and will be seeing you soon”

We had the chance to catch Max when he performed with Escape The Fate  on the Bury The Hatchet Tour with Falling In Reverse as well as when Escape The Fate performed with New Years Day and Eve To Adam in Sacramento.  Check out the tribute videos that Rockin Ryan made from the last times we caught Escape the Fate with Max.

We wish all the best to Max and hope we get to hear some more music from him soon. Maybe some Violent New Breed in the works?? I hope so!!!

Before You

One of Pittsburgh, PA popular bands, Before You have announced the end of their band. Before You are a Pop Punk band that has quite a dedicated fanbase in Pittsburgh. They have a really catchy style that reminds me of a blend of All Time Low with My Chemical Romance.  I really like them but sadly they have announced through a Facebook post that the band is coming to an end. The Facebook post reads:

“It is with a heavy heart that I make this announcement but after 4 years of being a band, Before You will come to an end after our May 7th show at Howler’s Coyote Cafe.

This band has been a mainstay in our lives and the source of so much joy and opportunity, that it really hurts to have to call it quits. We have 3 remaining shows and we plan on playing them with the same energy and enthusiasm as we always have. Tonight, we play at Club Cafe on the South Side at 10pm. Friday, April 25th, we play at Altar Bar in the Strip District and May 7th, as I mentioned, we are at Howler’s in Bloomfield. Please try to make it out to one of these shows so we can personally thank you for all of the support and love you have shown us over the lifespan of this project. The people who are reading this are the reasons that we have been able to make music together for the last 4 years and we can’t even put into words how much that means to us. We would like to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts for buying our music, telling people about us, sharing the stage with us, asking us to be a part of your bill, listening to our music and most importantly, believing in Before You. Music is our world and you have made it possible to thrive.

If you can’t make it to one of these upcoming shows, please send us a message on Facebook or drop us a line via email (beforeyourock@gmail.com). We would love to talk to you and show you our gratitude.

Once again, thank you and we hope to see you soon.

*Before You”

So, I hope that everyone in their area does their best to make it out to one of their final three shows or if not ALL of them!!  Also, please head over to Itunes and pick up their EP Meet Me at Whisper Lake. Check out one of my favorite songs and watch their video for Anatomy of Your Thoughts.

We wish all the members in the band success in all their future endeavors and thank them for making such great music!

The Agonist

Arch Enemy

ARCH ENEMY has announced Alissa White-Gluz as the new singer. You might recognize Alissa’s name, as she was the former vocalist for THE AGONIST. Angela Gossow who joined ARCH ENEMY back in 2001 announced that she will be stepping down as the vocalist and will be focusing on artist managment. Angela released the following statement:

Dear ARCH ENEMY fans, this is not easy to tell you…I have decided to step down from being ARCH ENEMY’s voice of anger. After 13 years of pure fucking metal, 6 studio albums and countless tours through five continents, I feel the need to enter a different phase in my life, be with my family and pursue other interests. I will however remain business manager for ARCH ENEMY, and I will continue to develop my artist management roster.

I am staying true to my heavy metal roots, just leaving the spotlight so to speak. I am passing the torch to the super talented Alissa White-Gluz, whom I’ve known as a dear friend and a superb vocalist for many years. I always thought she deserved a chance to shine – and now she’s getting it. Just like I got that chance back in 2001.

I want to thank all ARCH ENEMY fans, our labels Century Media (worldwide) and Trooper Entertainment (Japan), our dedicated road crew, and in particular Michael, Daniel and Sharlee for their love and support throughout all these years. It’s been one hell of a ride! We conquered every situation, made it through thick & thin together in the most exciting and rewarding time of my life. Thank you all for being there with me on stage, in front of the stage, and backstage. You have touched my heart, and I hope I was able to give something back to you. I am grateful for the wonderful memories – I will cherish them forever!

I am looking forward to the next decade of ARCH ENEMY madness! Right now I am listening through rough mixes of the new studio album and I am blown away! 2014 will see a renewed ARCH ENEMY at the top of their game. I am proud to be part of this ARCH ENEMY chapter, albeit in a different way – revving up the engines behind the scenes. I hope to see you in front of the stage; I will join you there this time. Let the killing begin, once again!

We wish Angela all the best in her new role and we know she will do great things.  ARCH ENEMY are set to release their 9th studio album, War Eternal in early June through Century Media Records and Trooper Entertainment in Japan. Later this week, they will be releasing the video for the album’s tittle track so mark your calendars for March 20th. They also have tour dates confirmed for Europe and you can find those below.

We welcome Alissa to ARCH ENEMY and can’t wait to see more of her as they tour.  Alissa White-Gluz comments:

I am very honored and happy to announce a new chapter in my life and musical career beginning now; I have joined forces with one of my all-time favorite and globally respected bands, ARCH ENEMY. ‘Wages of Sin’ was the first metal album I ever bought, and it was love at first listen. It is not often that you get a phone call from your favorite band asking you to join! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such amazingly talented musicians whom I also consider great friends. I look forward to being able to write and perform at a whole new level now with ARCH ENEMY! Music is forever, metal is limitless and this is only the beginning!

One of my SPECTACULAR ALL TIME FAVORITE bassists is feeling under the weather!! Duff McKagan is reported to be recovering from pneumonia. As you know, Duff has been very busy touring with his band, Walking Papers this past year. Their tour took them not only across the country, but worldwide.

Walking Papers finished the year off by playing to a sold out crowd on New Year’s Eve at the Highway 99 Blues Club in Seattle,  WA.  What an amazing year for them, but I am sure along with that extensive touring, it can take a toll on you.  Earlier today, Duff’s amazingly talented and beautiful wife, Susan took to Twitter and asked for well wishes for her hubby who is home with pneumonia.

So, now it up to all of us, send Duff our best wishes for a full recovery! So please send out good vibes and well wishes to Duff!  Also make sure to visit the Waking Papers’ website which has their vinyl now available!! I love the clarity and sound of  Vinyls and it has double 12″ clear vinyls and includes digital download. You can pick it up here.

For now, I am going to send Duff a Get Well Tweet and crank up some Walking Papers! Check out the awesome tribute video Rockin Ryan made for Walking Papers here:
