It has been seven years since the brutal murder of Sophie Lancaster who was killed simply because she looked different in someone else’s eyes. A beautiful young girl who was murdered simply because she was a follower of a different culture, had a different look. From that senseless attack, what else can someone do except try to bring light to what was not an isolated incident and help others. The Sophie Lancaster Foundation was created by her mother as a lasting legacy to her daughter and she has dedicated her life to changing attitudes and to make it a safer place for alternative subcultures.

To mark the 7 year anniversary of Sophie’s death, the Foundation have teamed up with Bad Pollyanna and cult makeup Illamasqua to release the sensational charity single, Invincible Girl. Sophie’s mother, Sylvia says, To say that everyone at The Sophie Lancaster Foundation is extremely excited about this track is an understatement. We all feel that seven years is an appropriate milestone to celebrate the strength and courage Sophie’s death has given us to slowly but surely change the world. The proceeds and awareness from this charity single will help us continue our crucial work”.  Check out the amazing song here:

The beautiful song has an ethereal tone and the emotionally driven lyrics will completely touch your heart as it gives you the strength to stand up and be proud of who you are. Whether you have ever experienced feeling different, an outsider or like you didn’t belong, this is the song that you should listen to, as it becomes that little voice that will tell you, you are the Invincible Girl. You can do anything, stand proud and forge ahead.  The vocals of Olivia Hyde are intensely luscious and powerful and carry so much emotion when she sings. She just enters your soul as you can feel her energy overtake you. Simply magical and well deserving of your attention.

Bad Pollyanna’s ‘Invincible Girl’ is available to purchase on digital download and will be released on collectible, limited-edition 12 inch vinyl – in Sophie’s favorite hue, purple. You can buy the single in CD & Digital Formats at www.badpollyanna.com, iTunes, and Amazon MP3.  For more information on the Sophie Lancaster Foundation (Stamp Out Prejudice, Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere) please visit: http://www.sophielancasterfoundation.com/

Make sure to also check out more of Bad Pollyanna and pick up their album, Monstrous Child. ‘Where vocalist Olivia Hyde takes us the journey of a young woman kidnapped by a grieving scientist who uses her to resurrect his deceased lover in the form of a doll – with disastrous consequences. Having being transformed into a monster, she sets out on a journey to discover the meaning of love, and the sweet yet bitter taste of revenge. As their oxymoronic name suggests, Bad Pollyanna represents a mix of both beauty and darkness. The band explores and celebrates the duality of love, sex and the human condition through music and art. Bad Pollyanna believe you should be whoever you want to be and are proud to support the Sophie Lancaster Foundation in conjunction with makeup brand Illamasqua.’

Lastly, please make sure to share Sophie’s story so we can help make a difference and bring an end to intolerance.
