What is the oddest gift you have ever received?

Christmas or in general? Haha I’ll answer both, for Christmas, I received a Backstreet Boys CD at like 12, and while I’m not knocking them, the Backstreet Boys have never been my type of music ever lol. Maybe when I was 7-8 when all the girls went nuts for them, but by 12, I was into the stuff I’m into now.

Oddest gift ever?? My 18th birthday, where my buddies decided to bake me a “shit” cake, they literally threw everything in the kitchen in there, stuck it in the oven, and “baked” me a cake lol. I took a bite and it was horrendous but I felt the love haha.

What is your favorite Holiday Food Item?

Well I’m Portuguese, my entire family is, so I’m totally looking forward to all the food my grandmothers gonna cook up! But totally can’t wait for that Portuguese –wait for it—TURKEY! In Montreal, Portuguese chicken is like food fashion, people  line-up everywhere they make it to get some chicken, but I’m waiting for my home cooked Turkey!!

What is your favorite Holiday family tradition that you still do today?

Ever since I was born, we’d go to my Grandmother’s house on Christmas Eve. The entire family is there (way bigger now than when I was 5-6), and it’s just a great time without any worries. We’d get gifts at midnight (since we wouldn’t see each other till the week after), and just continue the fun there. The tradition has changed, I now enjoy watching my younger cousins open their gifts! And all the grandchildren take a photo on this staircase at my grandmothers house. I’m the eldest grandchild, and the youngest is 2 and theres 8 other children in between, so that staircase is plenty full. Although, I’m trying to “retire” myself from this photo since I’m closer to having my own kids then being a grandchild lol.

Do you have a favorite holiday movie or song?

Oh of course! Jingle All The Way! The movie with Arnie! TURBOOOO MAN! Home Alone 1 + 2. Music, I absolutely love Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Christmas Eve Sarajevo is my definite favourite Christmas Song.

Do you have a specific memory of a certain ornament or holiday decoration?

Yep! This ornament I had when I was a kid with my name on it. I can’t remember what happened to it, it probably broke as all Ornaments do.

Canadian Country Music Artist Amy Rose recently won the coveted Independent Country Music Association award for Entertainer of the Year.  Amy Rose has been blessed with a voice that is truly sensational. She currently has severeal singles out  “I Just Want You To Know” and “(Redneck Reunion) Party Like A Redneck” which highlight her vocals and have you wanting more!  Most recently she released “Sunshine” which has everyone taking a listen. “Sunshine”  was the No. 1 at most added single to country radio and if you take a listen on  her website, you will see why. It is a beautiful emotionally driven song that makes you feel as if they lyrics are warm hands embracing your soul.

Amy has been described as Part down-home country girl, part sophisticated musical veteran and “Redneck Diva”.  Her versatility in her music is winning the hearts of country fans all over. We had the opportunity to interview Amy Rose and are pleased to bring that interview to you here:

* * * * *

Music Junkie Press:  Thank you Amy Rose for taking the time out to talk with us at Music Junkie Press! First we want to congratulate you on your win for IMEA Country Entertainer of the Year!

Amy: Thanks for taking the time to interview me, I truly appreciate it… 🙂

Music Junkie Press:  Your song “Sunshine” has really been making some big moves on the charts! It is a beautiful emotionally driven song, can you tell me more about it?

Amy: Sunshine is a song about the pain we deal with from the loss of a love one… We have that one simple question that seems to be the hardest to answer and that’s “How” how do we move forward from that dark place without the one’s we love and cherish… The lyrical message of this song is so powerful it moved me when I first heard it and took all of 5 second to know this was a song I wanted to record…

Music Junkie Press:  That song really is very moving and I love it. You really show your sassy side with Redneck Reunion. I LOVE THAT SONG! That must have been a fun video to make?

Amy: Party Like A Redneck was directed by Alex Colthart of Raw Footage Productions and was such an extremely F.U.N. video to shoot… I  co-wrote this song based on my REDNECK family so when we sat down with  the director to talk about the treatment, it was important to me to have the inspiration behind song have rolls in this video so needless to say EVERYONE aside from the dancers (because we can’t dance like that) LoL are all family and friends of this redneck chick including all the toothless people… Hehe To be honest the shoot that day was one hell of a big P.A.R.T.Y. (And yes, the beer was real) LoL

Music Junkie Press: it is a really fun video! Do you have a video out for Sunshine?

Amy: We have shot a video for “Sunshine” which is currently in post production with release TBA… 🙂

Music Junkie Press: We will be waiting for that video. hat artists most inspired you when growing up?

Amy: Dolly Parton!!! I absolutely adore her… 🙂

Music Junkie Press: Do you have a specific song writing process or ritual?

Amy: No, sometimes songs come to me at the weirdest times and places and can take 5 minutes to write or 5 months, I just hope when they do I have a pen and paper with me to capture it… Haha

Music Junkie Press: I see you have a few shows coming up here in December, what else are you working on?

Amy: Currently I am in the studio working on my next single “Country Crazy” produced by the incredible Marty Beecroft… Me and my gang will be heading back down to Nashville, TN in February 2014 to preform on the Billy Block Show and The Performing Writers Showcase as well as tons or press and radio interviews scheduled for the upcoming months AND just announced we will be ringing in the New Year with a show in Scarborough, Ontario!!!

Music Junkie Press:  If you could take a song from a completely different genre and turn it into your own style, what might you choose?

Amy: Honestly I have always wanted to record a version of “Open Arms” by Journey as it is not only my wedding song but one of my absolutely all time favourite songs…

Music Junkie Press:  That is such a great song. I would love to see you record that. If I could peak into your Ipod, what artist or song might I be most surprised at finding in there?

Amy: Hmmmmmmmm well I LOVED Hanson growing up and I might have mmmmmm bop on my Ipod which might happen to be on my recently played list… Hehehe 😉

Music Junkie Press:  I used to love them too. With the holidays coming how about some Holiday questions! What is the oddest gift you have ever received?

Amy: Hahaha no comment because that person who gave me the oddest gift will probably read this… LoL

Music Junkie Press: What is your favorite Holiday Food Item?
