theory

Today we are back at highlighting the many awesome bands on the lineup for this year’s Monster Energy Aftershock Festival. Our spotlight for today is on one of my personal favorites, Theory of a Deadman. I was glad to see them on the lineup because it has been way too long since my last concert of theirs. They have also just released their new album, Savages on Roadrunner Records. This is the fifth full length album for the Canadian rockers and it is another great one. They have definitely honed in on mastering their craft and taken chances on this album that I think are well taken. I love to see a band evolve into their own style and doing what they want to do and make the music “they” want and this album highlights their great songwriting skills.

Tyler Connolly explains more about this album, “It’s such a different record for us,” he asserts. “I’m known as the guy who writes all of the ‘breakup’ songs. It would have been typical to write more, so I did just the opposite. There’s something very brutal about our culture. I got nightmares from Terminator as a kid and, now, you can watch real murders on YouTube. We’re so desensitized. I went from writing about crazy women to how screwed up we are. That’s the theme. I’d spend twenty hours a day at my home studio. I became a weird recluse, and I even grew a beard. I dug in deeper than ever for these songs. I just said, ‘Fuck it’ and went for it.”

Band Members:

  • Tyler Connolly – Vocals & Guitar
  • Dean Back – Bass
  • David Brenner – Guitar
  • Joe Dandeneau – Drums

Lacuna Coil

Lacuna Coil is probably one of my favorite bands today. I am ecstatic to see them on the lineup for this year’s Monster Energy Aftershock Festival. They are going to give the crowd one of the best empowering sets they have seen in a while. It will be great to hear from the poor souls who have never seen them or heard of them before and what they think about them after.  It is amazing to watch the intensity that Lacuna Coil brings to life on the stage. You are absolutely captivated by all five of them during their performance. They each have excellent stage presence and bring this intense level of symphonic style melody to metal that is just addictive and one of my faves.

Band Members:

  • Cristina Scabbia – Vocals
  • Andrea Ferro – Vocals
  • Marco Coti Zelati – Bass
  • Marco ‘Maus’ Biazzi – Guitars

Kate Nash

Allow me to introduce to you the amazing pop punk sensation, Kate Nash. She is incredible and has a voice that can get inside your head, inspire and empower, open your heart and soothe your soul. Kate has released her third album, Girl Talk was written on the bass guitar, lending Kate’s new sound – a more raw punk feel, she says, ‘It’s definitely a pop record, but has a new sound and feel to it. I played bass in a punk band called The Receeders for a couple of years and I love how powerful playing bass and using my voice like that made me feel. Girl Talk is full of colour, pop harmonies and melodies, and I feel like my voice has matured and that I can do more with it. Music is my escapism and vice, and my life is in every song. I’m happy to share the next chapter.

Kate has recently released her video for “Sister”, her single which is off of Girl Talk. You are going to love it. Kate’s voice not only resonate passion but at the same time, display vulnerability in the song. The bass line grabs a hold of you and Kate’s vocal tone and spectrum will leave you deliciously content. Check out the new video here:

Isn’t that a well needed breath of fresh air? She is truly spectacular and I look forward to you checking out her Girl Talk album with me.  You can pick up the album on Itunes here. It is time for us to be held captive by Kate Nash and enjoy every minute of it.

Kate Nash

Kate has a couple upcoming tour dates including performing at Coachella 2014. We are hoping to catch her show at The Roxy in Hollywood in April. Visit the Tour Section on her website for more details. We will see if we can bring you an interview with this young Renaissance woman who is taking the world by storm. Get ready to fall in love with Kate Nash.

Austin

We know that it was hard for all of us when we first heard the news of Austin Winkler‘s departure from Hinder but we were excited to know that he was going to continue on with his music career.  You can read more on our previous post here.

Austin has been sharing posts on Instagram and Twitter letting us know about his new musical venture and has been hard at work on it.  I am elated to hear that and guess what, last  night Austin joined Camp Freddy on stage at the Roxy in Hollywood.

I can KICK MYSELF since Rockin Ryan and I had plans to go to a couple of the Camp Freddy shows this week but family emergencies prevailed and fires had to be put out. Austin joined the guys on stage and sang Born To Be Wild.  Our friend told that he looked so happy to be back on that stage, which is exactly where he belongs.

You can check out this video of his performance last night here:

We will continue to keep you updated on Austin‘s music and welcome him back to the stage! I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us He has one of the most recognizable and beloved vocals in the industry and we need more of him!   We will work on getting an interview set up to discuss his music further so stay tuned.
