I love this track as it brings a fresh new life to the 80’s rock that we all fell in love with without feeling dated. It has a killer guitar solo and vocals that just grab your attention and have you fully engaged with full throttle to rock! This is one sweet rock band that definitely proves Rock n Roll is not dead, far from it with these iconic musicians at the helm.

Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news. We will see if we can bring you an interview soon too to find out more about Only To Rise and hopefully with the release right around NAMM time, who knows, maybe a show in the works? Fingers crossed!!!

November 12, 2014 kicked off the final installment of touring for Blue October’s most recent album, SWAY, at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland. Starting the evening off was Harvard Of The South, a side project created by Blue Octobers Justin Furstenfeld, Matt Noveskey, Jeremy Furstenfeld and longtime collaborator and friend Steve Schiltz of Hurricane Bells and Longwave.  The band recently released a 5 song EP titled Miracle and is currently available at the shows. I made sure to grab my copy and have a hard time switching to anything else. It has a great old school grunge feel only with less teenage angst.  As I heard someone in the crowd state “Imagine if Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Smashing Pumpkins had an illegitimate love child, this would be it.” Being that all the bands listed are a staple in music history I see no better way to compliment them and look forward to hearing more music in the future.

The show started with a brief video telling everyone about the upcoming LIVE album and documentary that has been in the works for the past several years. The band is working on a pledgemusic campaign to make it possible for the fans to help participate in its creation. Currently they are 82% funded with little over a week left. For more information and to pledge please click the link at the bottom of the page.

Once the band took the stage it was a no holds barred roller coaster of emotion, but with a new dynamic that I had never seen from them before. Rocking through the set with a confidence that was reassuring to the crowd, lead singer Justin Furstenfeld made it clear that the band would be covering a lot of material spanning the length of Blue October’s discography while focusing on the albums Foiled-Sway. At which point the crowd went ballistic. I cannot describe the Jekyl and Hyde way in which Justin can turn on and off his aggression during songs like Say It and Light You Up to bring it back to his softer side with Congratulations. To watch him reign himself in and mentally as well as physically work through the emotions before proceeding, shows the maturity and calmness that he has embraced in life now.

It is no longer the Justin show. This has been my 9th time seeing Blue October but it may as well have been my first. Although the music was the same and the band members have not changed, it felt like I was watching someone new. From the playful interactions between each other to Justin egging on the crowd by asking us to sing along or telling one of his anecdotes to get us laughing, from start to finish it was obvious that everyone is in a better place.

Many Thanks go out to everyone in the band for making the first night special for all of us in attendance. Justin, Ryan, Matt, Ceb and Jeremy your music has touch the lives of so many and we appreciate what you do. We cannot wait to hear what is in store for the future and since Justin said “I’ll be doing this Blue October thing ‘til I am like 90!” we will hold you to it.

Buckcherry have just released their new video for their song, Say Fuck It which is off their recently released EP, which is titled…. FUCK.  You may be wondering about the title but there is much more to the four letter word title. This is a tribute to the word ‘fuck’… Over the years, we’ve been told so many times to get away from the honesty that makes this band special. It’s a part of who I am. It’s not about the profanity itself; it’s about using it cleverly.” – Josh Todd posted on their Facebook page.

 Check out the video here:

This is probably the best cover of Icona Pop’s song, I Love It, done perfectly in Buckcherry fashion!! I love it!! It is true Buckcherry with the signature vocals of Josh, swirling guitars, high energy and rock attitude. I can’t wait for the new album!

We are excited to see that Buckcherry are returning to this year’s Monster Energy Aftershock in Sacramento on September 14th, they will be performing on Sunday at 3:30 on the Monster Stage South. They will also be performing on this year’s lineup for Rockstar Uproar Festival. More details on Uproar Festival here. We just caught them earlier this year when they came to the Heritage Theater in Campbell, CA. You can check out our full coverage of their Campbell, California show here.

Let me introduce you to  Traedonya. Traedonya was raised in New York City and she surrounded herself with all kinds of music from Hip Hop, Funk and Rock. She truly is a lover of a variety of music and with those influences has created her own unique sound.   Traedonya has been dubbed the ‘The Bride of New Funk Hipopera” and she surely lives up to that title with her fusion of  hip hop, jazz, and her vocal range.

Traedonya has launched her pre-orders for her new EP, “High Fructose Corn Syrup” through a PledgeMusic campaign. Traedonya says, I don’t believe in genres, I believe in the song married with the music. As I am in life, I wish not to be placed in a box with my music. I am excited to be working with Pledge Music on my solo debut project. After having the meeting with them, I felt this was a perfect marriage. This is the 2014 music industry!

As part of the campaign there will be various merchandise and perks for fans to get involved. Pledge Music gives her fans and those who are interested in the artist to go thru the whole journey with TRAEDONYA!  This will allow all pledgers to become patrons of the arts in modern society. In ancient Rome, this was how artists were allowed to bring their passion and vision to life.

As part of the campaign TRAEDONYA! will launch her personal brand with her own line of Hip Opera Gloves featuring her new logo. We were seeking a product that would be a fit for TRAEDONYA! and felt that gloves were a perfect because over the years  she always wore them. It was a natural extension who she truly is. The gloves are tasteful yet current in fashion Prohibition’s Ambassador At Large A.K Smith-Ford.  Prohibition has partnered with http://thefuturehasnomemory.com to assist in the roll out of the Gloves.

The Campaign just isn’t about TRAEDONYA!. An integral part of this campaign will be the St. Judes Childrens Hospital. The mission of St Judes research is to advance cures and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay for care.  This has made me very happy to be able to assist this great institution says TRAEDONYA!.

Head over to  http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/highfructosecornsyrup and get your Pledge in today!  To support this announcement TRAEDONYA! is officially releasing Family Affair. Download the song from the link here:  HTTP://hulkshare.com/TRAEDONYA

Dave Mason

The iconic singer/songwriter/guitarist Dave Mason, the co-founding member of Traffic has premiered a new version of Traffic’s song Dear Mr. Fantasy. The song is off the rock and roll hall of fame inductee’s forthcoming new album, Future’s Past which features new versions of some of his classic songs plus new material is set for a May 13th Release on Something Music/MRI.

You can listen to the re-interpreted version of Dear Mr. Fantasy here:

“It [“Dear Mr. Fantasy”] came about redoing the chords,” MASON tells USATODAY.com of the bluesy rewrite. “I was doing some shows and I was trying to think of something to make it a little more interesting, so I just started playing around with it. I put it in a minor key instead of a major key, and I sort of developed it from there. Of the new album release, MASON says, “There is a version of ‘World in Changes’ that is absolutely nothing like the original and there is a great live version that is absolutely beautiful of ‘Sad and Deep as You.’  There are two or three songs that were on a CD called 26 Letters 12 Notes that I did seven years ago, a Robert Johnson song, ‘Come On in My Kitchen’ and a brand new song called ‘That’s Freedom.’”

Fans of Dave Mason can join in helping market and promote by joining Dave’s  Pledge Music Campaign. In addition to receiving the expanded new album package, they could receive a variety of exclusives like signed posters, vinyl, tour shirts, tour vest and much more. Make sure to take a look and get your pledge in.

These guys deliver the goods and by the way, it is so nicely packaged…  Well these guys have been touring Europe and we are waiting for our turn to Rock out to this fantastic band.  Their music has everything from hot guitar licks, smoking riffs, melodic chorus, heavy basslines and rockin drums. Then you add all the incredible vocals and in time you are rocking heavy and asking yourself why didn’t you hear these guys sooner.  Well better, sooner than never. Jettblack is Will Stapleton on Vocals, Guitar, Tom Wright on Bass, Matt Oliver on Drums, and Jon Dow on Vocals, Guitar.  What a chemistry they bring together. Truly a union of amazing talent.

TNT

There must be some magic in the air today and the stars are all aligned because I have some awesome news to share! Tony Harnell has just announced his return as vocalist for TNT.

I have told you earlier this year about Tony Harnell & The Wildflowers featuring  Ron Bumblefoot Thal. I also loved seeing Tony perform in January at NAMM 2013 along with Cassandra Sotos and Ron.  You can check out a video which we got of their great performance  here:

Tony Harnell  has an incredibly powerful and distinctive voice that I have loved for a long time! Tony was the lead singer of the Norwegian Rock band, TNT during the highlight of their career (1984 to 2006) and has over 30 albums of experience as well as numerous awards. It is so exciting to see that he will be returning to TNT. You can read his Facebook post here announcing the news:

Tony Harnell post

So let’s all give Tony a warm WELCOME BACK and I can’t wait to find out about a US Tour!!!!

Also make sure to check out Tony Harnell & the Wildflowers EP. You can pick it up on  Itunes CDBABY or Tony Harnell’s website . On it you are treated to what I consider to be one of the most soul touching voices in music today. I have had a love affair with Tony’s voice for many years and on this EP, you have the addition of the incredible guitar work of Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal and  violinist extraordinaire Cassandra Sotos to enjoy.

Tony Harnell

Also check out one of my favorite TNT songs here, “Listen To Your Heart”
