Not too long ago, we featured The Black Moods out of Arizona, you can read more from that post here.  Now these 70’s inspired rockers are adding more dates to their tour and have released an awesome music video for Say It For The Last Time. Check out the video here:

The Black Moods is a three piece band that I can describe as having great guitar driven songs, infectious melodies, energetic vocals and an upgraded version of old school rock and roll. Imagine the great songwriting of Tom Petty meets the energy and passion of the Foo Fighters along with a side order of Collective Soul.  They are Josh Kennedy on Lead Guitar/Vocals, Ryan Prier on Bass/Vocals and Chico – Drums/Percussion. Together they have collectively brought the rock influences of the past 40 years and have created their own unique signature sound.

Their tour is in support of their upcoming EP, Killers in The Night which is set for a July 15th release.  Singer and guitarist Josh Kennedy offers, “I feel like we are an emotionally driven 70’s Rock ‘n’ Roll band. We just happen to have grown up in the nineties. We have a clear vision of the music we want to create, and it is reminiscent of a more classic rock style.  I hope when people come to a show, or hear an album, they sense feeling, emotion and intensity.”  Catch them out on tour at the following dates:

  • 6/19     Springfield, MO                                  The Outland Ballroom
  • 6/20     St. Louis, MO                                     Atomic Cowboy

The Black Moods

Some people dread Mondays but I love them. I love the challenge of a new week ahead, new beginnings and especially finding new music to share with you all. Today I have a great band out of Arizona, a three piece rock band, The Black Moods. How do I describe them? Well, let’s see, they have great guitar driven songs, infectious melodies, energetic vocals and an upgraded version of old school rock and roll. You are going to love them, I know I instantly did after checking out their latest music video for their song, Don’t Let Them Get You Down

Don’t Let Them Get You Down is off of their self titled debut album and can be picked up on Itunes here, Amazon here  or the CD through their website here. Definitely, a band for you to keep your eyes on. They have also released an amazing cover of the Genesis song, “I Can’t Dance” which honestly I think is even better! This is quite a talented trio and I am looking forward to more new music from them. Check out their cover of  “I Can’t Dance” here:

If you are in the Los Angeles area, you can catch The Black Moods perform at the House of Blues on Sunset Strip in Hollywood on April 24th for The Ox and the Loon ( A Night of Rhythmic Lunacy in honor of John Entwistle and Keith Moon of the Who). The night is filled with great music by amazing musicians. The Black Moods are set to go on at 7:30 pm.

Gypsy Pistoleros

Wake up everyone, it is Sunday morning and what better way to recuperate from a crazy weekend than by cranking up some new Gypsy Pistoleros!!  Just  this morning, Gypsy Pistoleros released their video for their new single, “The Dirty Side of Midnight” and it KICKS ASS!!  It makes me wan to start my weekend all over. Here it is:

We had the opportunity to chat with Gaz Harris, the new singer for Gypsy Pistoleros. You might remember Gaz from our interview with  him when he was with Wratchild. Well, Gaz’s high energy and powerful vocals have found the perfect home in Gypsy Pistoleros.  Here is Gaz to tell us more about the Gypsy Pistoleros:

* * * * * *

Music Junkie Press: HI Gaz, It is great to hear that you are with the Gypsy Pistoleros. How did that come to happen?

Gaz: Well Mari, I was talking to Jeff Pistolero on a night out in Wolverhampton. We got talking and I wanted to be out gigging more than i was doing with Wrathchild. So, I said Ii would come along to a rehearsal. Soon as I heard the new stuff they was working on I was tuned in and needed to be a part of this. The energy was great, I started working on a few lyrics and everything started to gel together. Iggie, Jeff ,Kenny and myself all wanted the same thing; to make good old British rock n roll and want to play every where we can. I’m really excited about the future for the Gypsy Pistoleros

Music Junkie Press: We are very excited for new music. What are you guys currently working on?

Gaz: We are working on the new album its coming together very quick in the 3 months of joining we have already had a few warm up gigs before we start touring in 2014 and the new stuff is going down with fans well, and got to say the fans of the Gypsy Ppistoleros have welcomed me with welcome arms. Thank You.

Music Junkie Press:  We understand Gypsy Pistoleros is releasing a new single, can you tell me more about the song?

Gaz: Yes it’s called THE DIRTY SIDE OF MIDNIGHT it’s about deep down we all love the darker side of love and where we get our kicks from. We are all human at the end of the day ,we are very lucky for the video the owners of LEGS11 BIRMINGHAM allowed us to use one of his clubs, a fantastic place and we enjoyed so much filming the video there and the girls Paula ,Jenny, Sandrea, and Tamsyn, for putting on the glam for us.

Music Junkie Press: Do you have any upcoming shows planned?

Gaz:  Yes, we have loads of booking enquires ,we are supporting LoveHate in Scotland and London, also we have a few festivals confirmed. I’m  expecting a busy 2014 but that’s the way I like it.

Music Junkie Press: What is in store for Gypsy Pistoleros in 2014?

Gaz: Releasing the new album and getting out there and meeting you all ,and playing live in any country that wants us.

Music Junkie Press:  Also make sure to check out Gaz in our Holiday Q & A Special, Part 3 where you can find out what was the oddest gift he ever received or his favorite holiday food item. Check it out here.

Gypsy Pistoleros are on fire. I am loving the new song and can’t wait for them to come to play out here in the US. They have high energy, straight up rock n roll that we need more of. roadcrew

Day 9 of our 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know goes to Road Crew from Santa Rosa. Road Crew maybe a local band but they have their eyes on the big Rock’n Roll prize.  They have a big sound that from the first time I heard them, I had my faith restored in music and now know that Rock n Roll will NEVER DIE!  You can read more about that first time here.

Road Crew delivers non stop adrenaline filled rock, high energy shows that will have you thinking you are back on the Sunset Strip in 1984. They are the true “adrenaline junkies”.  Check out a teaser for their upcoming video of “Lost”:

Nikki Scott is the rebel on vocals whose gritty voice you will soon fall in love with. He can not only sing the lows and hit the high notes.  Jakki Dee is the bass wielding wild man who is pounding out the bass and delivers some sweet backing vocals. Tommy Lee… No, I mean… Derrick (D-Rock) the madman on drums takes the energy level even higher as his thunderous drumming radiates from his Pearl set.   Earlier this year, Road Crew announced that Downey Orrick  will be taking over as Lead Guitarist and he fits in perfectly with the band and rocks the stage with his Gibson. All four of these guys have an adrenaline filled stage presence and even in the smallest  nightclubs, they put on a show as if they were playing stadiums.

IMG_0105

Road Crew is currently working on their new album and we asked Jakki about how it is going. Jakki told us that the new album, Adrenaline Jakki…. well, Jakki was hoping for that name. “Adrenaline Junkie” is in the final stages with finishing up backing vocals and then it is off to mix and master!  Jakki tells us about which track he most enjoys playing, “Wild Ones is my favorite because Downey sets it on fire and breathes new life into the track,a lot like the rest of the album.  Downey told us about his favorite songs to play off the album, “Wild One just because the rhythms are tight and it’s pretty catchy vocally. I like No Regrets a lot too because it’s got more of a spacier feeling to it which contrasts with the rest of the album”.  Jakki says,  “Expect a swift kick in the ass” with this new album.  We are all excited about it.

So now that you are excited, how about checking out a track off the album? Take a listen to their song, “Devil’s Smile” from their upcoming album. It will have you counting down to their new release. I will tell you that I had a chance to get a sneak peak and listen to the album and it is going to be amazing!!! Get ready to rock my friends and join the Road Crew!

Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date with the latest Road Crew news.

Heaven's Basement

12 Days of Rock Christmas!
Day 1

On the first day of Christmas, my Rock and Roll love gave to me, down and dirty hard rock sound by Heaven’s Basement!  This band from England is going to be on the tip of all your tongues in 2013, mark my words.   These four guys have a stadium rock sound that needs to be unleashed here in the States. They deliver rock  that has just received 1000 volts of power. Caution! The defibrillator paddles have been brought out and just brought old school Rock and Roll ALIVE!!! Heaven’s Basement has invigorated music and it is exactly what we need more of.

They are just getting back to England from touring Europe and treating those lucky concertgoers to melt your face ROCK! During their European tour, they were sharing the stage with Seether, Halestorm, Papa Roach, Shinedown, Duff McKagan and Buckcherry. Heaven’s Basement was formed in 2008 and is currently signed with Red Bull Records. Actually, their new single, “Nothing to Lose” is the official soundtrack for Red Bull Crashed Ice 2013. This song reminds me of my love for 80’s rock but then it is wrapped in this fresh new sound with incredible vocals! It is captivating and catchy and will have you singing along in no time.It is a powerful arena style Rock Anthem! Check out the official video for “Nothing to Lose”

Aaron Buchanan is on vocals and his diversity in vocal style where he can deliver Chris Robinson style Rock and straight into a Sebastian Bach style. He in no way imitates because his vocals are so unique and can stand on their own. He delivers a style that many, I am sure, would like to imitate.  His stage presence is incredible as you see him doing his high jumps, kicks and his crowd walking!

All of the guys have excellent stage presence and really engage with the audience. You can feel their energy pulsing through your veins especially as Rob Ellershaw drops some deep heavy bass lines. Sid Glover just shreds on his awesome Gibson Les Paul guitar with his heavy riffs and classic 80’s rock sound. Chris Rivers on drums is just a maniac on his set. I love his intense energy and he just looks like he is enjoying every second of performing.  Also watch the video for one of my favorite songs of theirs, “Fire, Fire”. Be warned, they are addictive!

Oh how I wish they would be coming to the States soon. I hear they are heading out on a Canadian Tour with Buckcherry set to start on January 2nd with a show at the Knitting Factory in Spokane, WA!! Ok, that is closer boys, you need to just come further south to California! If I didn’t have to plan for NAMM coming up in January, I would be flying out to that show or maybe their other shows in Maine and New York.  My Christmas wish could always come true and they announce that after that tour, they will be coming straight to California! Anywhere in California is fine with me guys, I will drive to see the incredible show that you put on.  Dates for their upcoming tour can be found on their website or below.

So for now, I will have to sit by the fire and crank up some Heaven’s Basement. I am also hoping that my Rock and Roll love pre-ordered for me their upcoming debut album “Filthy Empire” which is set to release on February 4th, 2013.

So make sure to head on over to their website where you can listen to Heaven’s Basement, check out their latest news, order some merch and get your Rock Fix! I will keep you updated as to an interview with the band for the latest news.
