We are still finishing up our coverage of all the bands we got to see at Lara Gladstone’s Gutter n Grind last month at the Troubadour. Tonight we wanted to feature Future Villains from Los Angeles. These supercharged rockers gave a high energy set that night and have everyone with their hands in the air rockin out.

Future Villains are a modern rock band with noticeable influences in classic rock. They are definitely determined keep Rock n Roll alive. Check out a tribute video by Rockin Ryan featuring photos and footage of their set at the Troubadour:

If you are in the Southern California area, make sure to check them out as they will be playing at The Viper Room in Hollywood on March 14th. Details can be found on their Facebook page  or their Website. They also have a show in April at the House of Blues with another one of my favorite bands, Steel Panther.

(UPDATE 3/12/14) – We just received the news that Future Villians will be supporting Steel Panther for the FULL NORTH AMERICAN TOUR! Check the listings on our Steel Panther post here.

Make sure to also visit their social media pages and stay up to date on their latest news.

Get ready, it is going to get hot in here…. For Day 6 of 12 Days of Guitarists, we bring to you Brody DeRozie of American Monster from Las Vegas. We had the opportunity to watch Brody play with Hell or Highwater during the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento.  Brody is a madman on his guitar!  He is belting out riffs, smoking solos  and he just makes it look so easy. You can definitely tell that he loves playing and is a crowd pleaser.

We had the opportunity to talk with Brody about American Monster and he told us,  “American Monster is slotted to have a debut show back onstage in the early winter months of 2014 with the original lineup in Las Vegas. The following months will consist of shows in the southwest region of the US with some pretty familiar bands. In spring, we plan to record new songs, while re introducing original singer Mikey Lorenzo to the heavier current AM sound. Also as promised, merchandise! T-shirts, sticker, posters, etc.”

We are so excited to see and hear more of American Monster. To hear that they are back and ready to ROCK is music to my ears! When we asked about what is in store for 2014, Brody mentioned, “2014 is %100 American Monster. This band has a lot to offer the music world and I’m proud to be apart of it.”

American Monster

So in 2014, you will get to see a lot more of Brody’s high energy guitar playing. Check out a video of Brody shredding at Vinyl in Las Vegas here:

Brody is also included in our Holiday Q & A and we can give you first peak at his responses here:

Today I wanted to bring a very special artist interview to you. This week we are featuring the amazing talented rock vocalist, Joshua Adams from Las Vegas. Joshua brings his powerful vocals to life and it flows with such emotion which reminds me of my other favorite singer, Myles Kennedy.  You really have to take a listen and I am sure you will fall in love with his voice! Here is his video for his absolutely wonderful and uplifting song, “Everything Will Be Alright”. This song simply feeds my heart and soul, and you can’t help but feel serenity.

UPDATE: Joshua has a Kickstarter Campaign for his upcoming Acoustic Tour!! Details here.  We made our pledge so make sure to check it out and get Joshua to play in YOUR Town!!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Music Junkie Press:   First, I have to tell you that the first time I heard your voice, I seriously got chills. You have such an amazing vocal style that just emits emotion and is soul touching. The first song I heard was, “Everything Will Be Alright”. Can you share a bit of how that song came about?

Joshua:  Thanks so much for the compliments. It’s always nice to hear about a positive reaction to my music and vocals. “Everything Will Be Alright” is definitely one of my new favorites. The inspiration comes from seeing people around me deal with some very difficult times and not really having anything to say that would help. At times like that, the only thing you can say is “everything will be alright”.   The sound contains some of my favorite lyrics I’ve ever written 🙂

* * *

Music Junkie Press:  Second, we are so excited to see you in the VeeWall Vocals Performance Contest competing for $100,000. We understand you are also working to donate to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. We are voting everyday and hope you win. Can you tell us how you chose to donate to this charity, is there a personal story behind it?

Joshua:   Thank you for the support and voting! I don’t normally enter contests like this, however I saw it as a wonderful opportunity to raise some money for a few good causes, one of those being breast cancer research. I’m lucky to have never been directly affected by the disease, however the inspiration to donate to the cause comes directly from fans who have dealt with it. Over the years, I’ve seen some amazing fans and friends have to deal with the horrible disease and always wanted to help the cause.

* * *

Music Junkie Press:  How old were you when you first starting getting into music and what was your first concert?

Joshua:   I was around 12 or 13 when I began learning to play the guitar. Soon after that I was writing and then not long after, singing. My first “real” concert was probably around 17 or 18 years old at a high school event in a National Guard Armory.

* * *

Music Junkie Press:  Do you have a specific writing ritual?

Joshua:   Not really… Sometimes I’ll sit down and force myself to write, but the best stuff always comes out when least expected. Usually I’ll be in the car or on the computer and a new idea or melody comes to me.

* * *

Music Junkie Press:   What are you working on currently and what can we expect from you in 2013?

Joshua:  I’m currently in the final stages of a new album, which should be released this May. This year should contain music releases, video releases, tour dates, and meeting many awesome new fans.

* * *

Music Junkie Press:  Where can we currently get your music?

Joshua:   All of my previous releases can be found on iTunes by search Joshua Adams. I believe they are also on Amazon, Napster, Rhapsody, and a few other online retailers.

* * *

Music Junkie Press:  If we could peak into your Playlist or Ipod who would be the next three artists/songs on shuffla? Anyone that might surprise us?

Joshua:  Hmm…you’d probably hear Alter Bridge’s “Watch Over You”, Jeff Buckley’s version of “Hallelujah”, and maybe a Shinedown song. The surprise to many may be that I don’t really have many songs in my phone/ipod at the moment.

* * *

Music Junkie Press:  If you could remake any song from any genre, what would it be?

Joshua:   Good question. I’ve always been a big fan of Michael Jackson and would love to remake one of his many hits. I’m dragging my feet with it though because I want to make sure it’s the right song for me and to do the song justice.

* * *

Music Junkie Press:  When is your album going to be released and is there a title as of yet?

Joshua:   It looks like late May and as of now it’s just self titled “Joshua Adams”. I might pick a track to be the title track. Thank you so much for the interview and support!

 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Thank you so much Joshua for your time and we will include all the links and information on you as well as the link to keep voting for you on VeeWall Vocals Performance Contest.

Now my friends it is up to you keep voting for Joshua and let’s make sure he wins this contest. The song he entered is a beautiful one, “I Promise You” and you can check it out right when you vote here.

~ Get Voting and Enjoy, Marisol

As you may already know we are heading out to NAMM in Anaheim in just a couple weeks. Besides getting to check out the latest in music gear as well as get to see and talk to so many interesting musicians, I always look forward to what the nightlife brings during NAMM week.  Every year, in addition to the long days at the Anaheim Convention Center there is a multitude of great bands playing throughout the Southern California area and all are hoping that you get to check them out.

I have so many shows planned to cover for that week and I just recently added another one to my schedule. After listening to them I had to fit them in! Allow me to introduce you to an awesome Rock band from Phoenix, Arizona; While She Waits. These guys are delivering great rock and roll with a Southern flare that I am excited about.  They already have an extensive following in the Phoenix area and have been nominated for Phoenix’ Best New Hard Rock Song. I am glad they are heading further out West here, to treat us with some hard southern rock during NAMM week as well as a couple shows in Las Vegas.

These guys are a new band and were recently endorsed by Krank Guitar Amps and you will be able to catch a couple of the guys at the Krank Amplification booth during NAMM. They are just getting started but they are sure off to a running start. You can head over to their website and listen to their music. The first song I heard was “Stars and Bars” and just loved the slide intro and then you get the emotion filled edgy vocals of James Cole. It really will captivate you and infuse you with energy. Another song that I really love is “Home”. This song just takes me to a lazy summer afternoon where I would just sit back and enjoy the moment. It reminds me of when I would listen to my brother’s Lynyrd Skynyrd records and blare the music out to the patio while sipping a lemonade and suntanning. Then you listen to ‘The Road” and you get straight up rock and I truly love the drums in this one. I really like all the songs and I am looking forward to what While She Waits has in store for the year ahead. We are planning an interview and will keep you updated as to what they have in their future plans.

While She Waits will be playing at the Whiskey A Go-Go on Saturday January 26th, 2013 and they have an 8:15 pm slot so make sure to get there in time and catch this rockin band. They have a really impressive sound. Think Blackstone Cherry blended with some STP, sprinkling in some Volbeat and a dash of Godsmack. There you have the recipe for some splendid Southern Rock. So if you are in the area during NAMM week, come on out and join me for a great show. I have a feeling we won’t be disappointed…

*** If you want to buy your tickets early which I strongly suggest due to NAMM week, you can call James Cole directly at (602) 341.1629 and he says he can get you all set up!

~ Crank it up, Marisol

12 Days of Rock Christmas!
Day 3

On the 3rd day of Christmas my Rock and Roll love gave to me some fun under the tree with Sin City Sinners! If you live anywhere near Las Vegas, I am sure you are already very familiar with Sin City Sinners which have been dubbed “The Rat Pack of Rock and Roll” and have been named the #1 Headlining Rock Band of Las Vegas.  I know you might be wondering why I put a band that is most well known for their rock and roll covers but these guys not only deliver the great rock and roll but they are just too damn good to not mention with the show they put on.

Who is the Rat Pack of Rock and Roll? Well you have a wealth of talent on the stage when they perform and their list of special guest have included the likes of Carmine and Vinny Appice, DJ Ashba, Sebastian Bach, Dave Ellefson, Lita Ford, John 5, Gilby Clarke, Jason Hook, Vinny Paul and the list just goes on and on. You never know who you might be treated to next and who is going to jump up and jam with them on stage.

The main four members of Sin City Sinners include Brent Muscat on guitar, Rob Cournoyer on drums, Zach Throne on bass and Todd Kerns on lead vocals and guitar. Now that is a super group full of energy and talent bursting at the seams.  What they bring to the stage is a rock and roll experience that leaves you feeling like you just left the stadium sized arena and fully satisfied with their gift of rock.

Over the past few years and with their busy schedules, it is amazing that they have put out 3 albums including an incredible Christmas album that just rocks all your favorite Christmas carols. These guys are some hard working musicians! The best part is that all three of their albums are available on CDBaby so you can download it and start rocking out or you can go to their website and order the hard copy and even pick up some band merch like guitar picks, t-shirt and maybe even a Sin City Sinners ornament just in time for your Christmas tree!

Their Christmas CD, aptly titled “A Sinner’s Christmas” also includes guest appearances by George Lynch, Ron Keel, Slim Jim Phantom, Jizzy Pearl,  Pete Loran, Louie Merlino, Frank Dimino  & Sammy Serious. Sit back and take a listen to one of my favorites from the CD, “We Three Kings”.

From their acoustic record, “Broken Record” you will have a lot of fun watching the video for my favorite song of theirs, “It’s Not You, It’s Me”. Not only is it a entertaining video, the song just is wickedly delicious. I am in love with this song and have it on my daily playlist!

So, if you are in the Las Vegas/Southern California area or planning a trip out there, you have to check out one of their shows. Make sure to check out their website and keep up to date on their upcoming shows. Sin City Sinners is the one thing that I wish didn’t apply to the rule, “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas!” I would love for these guys to be known worldwide.

Let’s all join the fun and do some sinning! Crank up some Sin City Sinners!

The great Neil Young and his wife Pegi have been organizing the wonderful Bridge School Benefit  for the past 25+ years in the Bay Area and held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. Over the years, I have enjoyed donating to this great cause and being able watch front and center great acts like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Sammy Hagar, Sonic Youth, Pearl Jam, Billy Idol, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM, Foo Fighters and so many more great bands….. Oh what a bunch of great shows the Bridge School Benefit has brought to me!!! I love them all and can’t wait for another great year.

Well this year, you better get ready to ROCK and F*N ROLL because it is back to the basics of Rock n Roll and guess who is front and center?? I hear that Guns N Roses will be performing this year along with Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Jack White, Flaming Lips, Sarah McLachlan, Foster the People, Lucinda Williams, and other great acts. This is a show not to miss and it is so going to be here in my home town area! You better be there. I am heading to see Guns N Roses in Las Vegas in November and to see them right here at my own personal historical Shoreline will be an awesome site. I can’t wait.

The show will be held October 20th, 2012 and October 21st, 2012 at Shoreline in Mountain View. Here is the link for tickets via Live Nation which will go on sale this Friday, September 14th.

So get your tickets to this awesome lineup. Here is a video announcing the 2012 lineup for the Bridge School Benefit:

Bridge School on Facebook:

We all know about how successful Motley Crue’s residency shows at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas were earlier this year. They had performed 12 incredible shows and we all were waiting for them to return. Well, it has just been announced that the Hard Rock Hotel will be housing another incredible 80’s Rock band for a residency later this year. Guns n Roses announced on their website yesterday that they will be taking up residency at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas with shows starting on Halloween (Oct. 31st) and conclude November 24th. Their residency is aptly titled “Appetite for Democracy”.

I know how so many people have been waiting and waiting for a return of the original lineup but as we all know; you have better chances of winning the lottery! I know many fans have stated how they wouldn’t go see GnR unless it was an original lineup and I don’t feel that way. Guns N Roses was a big part of my growing up. Their music was my therapy during my teen years and then was my party music in my 20s. I never did get to see them live which I regret since I had several opportunities and always dismissed them with “I will catch them next time”. Then the lineups changed and there was never really a next time!  Also, the current line-up is worth seeing as well with DJ Ashba (guitar), Dizzy Reed (keyboards), Tommy Stinson (bass), Richard Fortus (guitar), Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (guitar), Chris Pitman (keyboards) and Frank Ferrer (drums).   I support all the original Guns n Roses members and have seen Steven Adler with his band; Adler’s Appetite and hope to see his new band; Adler.  I am going to see Slash with Myles Kennedy later this year at the Fox Theatre in Oakland and when Duff McKagan’s band; Loaded  or Izzy Stradlin’s solo work comes around I will be there too.

I will definitely be going to Vegas in November to catch a show or maybe a couple. My son Ryan loves old GnR and new GnR so it will be a great time. Just for the chance to possibly hear “November Rain” live is enough of an invitation for me. That song is so dear to my heart since I played it over and over after losing my little daughter Julia at birth on a cold November rainy day.  Check out the video for my favorite song:  “November Rain” which unfortunately you have to sit through a few seconds of advertisement but in my mind is worth it! Here is the link:

My Top Ten Favorite Guns n Roses songs in addition to November Rain are as follows:

10. Rocket Queen

9. Civil War

8. You Could be Mine

7. Knockin on Heaven’s Door

6. Patience

5. Used to Love her

4. Sweet Child of Mine

3. Yesterdays

2. Better

1. Paradise City

So why not come on out and join me for some great rock at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas! Tickets go on sale this Friday.For more information on tickets, dates and VIP packages; head over to the events page at GnR website at

I wanted to share with everyone the latest video from BlackBox13 which features their new song, “Army of None”. This great song will be featured on their upcoming EP and was filmed at their show at Count Vamp’d in Las Vegas.

Here is the video and I hope you enjoy!

I love this song. It has a cool drum intro that leads into a rockin song. Blackbox13 never disappoints when it comes to wanting to rock out. Well now it is no surprise that they are being nominated for “Best Vegas Hard Rock Band” Award for the 2012 Vegas Rocks! Magazine.  Voting is still going on and runs until August 15th. The way to vote is to email your vote to with “Blackbox13” in the subject line. That is it! So if you like what you hear and I am sure you will, head over and cast that vote. One email address per vote so make sure to vote from home, work, all your email addresses! These guys deserve to win.

Also you can try and catch one of their upcoming shows in Las Vegas:
