For anyone looking for something new in their lives, with a sprinkle of the oldies, I’ve got the band for you. Sanity Loss is an up incoming hard rock band based out of Oxfordshire, UK. Though they dawn the look of a hair metal band, they change the world of glam rock by combining it with screamo. If you want outrageous, take a hit off these guys. From writing their own killer tracks to doing an out of this world cover of Backstreet Boys, Sanity Loss incorporates great music into a flashy set. Just like their glam rock predecessors, they also know how to party! Bassist Tyler Dawson recently discussed with Drift N Die Press some of his wildest experiences, as well as the past, present, and future of Sanity Loss.

DND: What’s the general concept & mission of Sanity Loss?

Tyler: Well we just love making music and the fact people enjoy the music we write really is the best feeling in the world. We want to put the art back into artist. Every member puts 100% into the band and we can’t see ourselves doing anything else, which is why it works so well!

DND: How’d you guys meet & get started as a band?

Tyler: I had recently left an old band I was in, so I was in need of forming Sanity Loss. I had the band name, I had ideas of what I wanted but only thing missing was the members! So I went to every local show I could to find people I believed had the same drive and passion as myself. Dan (Lead Guitarist) was the first I recruited and we made Sanity Loss our baby. We then found the best people possible to join us and succeeded.

DND: Can you give a little insight towards your recent lineup change?

Tyler: Well we had all discussed for months now about parting ways with the old vocalist, for both professional and personal reasons,  so eventually that day came and we let him go. So now we had no vocalist and we’re searching the UK for the next frontman. I came upon a guy called Jamie Maloney, who I knew from the local scene in the midlands of the UK. After a few messages, we managed to convince him to come jam with us and the jam was insane! We made him an official member there and then, wrote two new songs and went out to the clubs to celebrate that night! We’re all very happy to have him in the Sanity Family!
DND: Of all the songs you’ve written, which meant the most to you & why?

Tyler: For me personally, the song that means the most to me is our new song ‘Days Have Faded’. We had an old version of the song with the past vocalist, however Jamie and myself re-worked the lyrics and both put our hearts into the song. It’s about the struggle of being an unsigned artist, and many references to demons we’ve had to battle in the past. I can’t wait to hit the studio and get it recorded since it does so well live.

DND: Any humbling fan experiences?

Tyler: We have some of the most amazing fans ever! The fact we even have fans makes me smile every single day, without fail. I have received fan mail in the post, been given gifts at shows, had people travel for miles just to come see us play, it’s insane and means the world to every single one of us!

aaa

DND: Any crazy or strange fan experiences?

Tyler: Okay, so I went on a weekend away with some friends of mine called Will, Alex and Morgan. While we were out partying I bumped into some people who knew me and the band. So we partied with them and invited people back to our hotel to party after clubs closed. It got wild and we were partying both in the rooms and on the hotel roof (I’m sure the manager was furious). I went into the bathroom and heard banging on the door, as I tried to leave I realized they had barricaded the door shut! I was locked in the bathroom with no way out! I was eventually let out by my friends and it was a weird experience. I laughed about it and carried on partying but still to this day have no idea why I was locked in the bathroom. What made it worst was that somebody who was in there before I was had gone number 2 and the whole bathroom smelt so bad! Was still an amazing night!

DND: While on the topic of crazy fans—What’s your general reaction towards fan fiction?

Tyler: I find fan fiction so funny! I have read quite a few about myself now and it’s always interesting to see how people think I’ll be. I’ve read ones where I am a soft, passionate lover and others where I am a complete whore! It’s always fun and if people find any about me, please link me to them so I can have a cheeky read!

DND: You are a ladies’ man. Any horror stories of groupies being too aggressive?

Tyler: So this story isn’t really aggressive, but I was with a groupie from a show we played and while I was asleep she managed to handcuff me to her bed, then went to work, leaving me stuck there with a note saying ‘Be home soon’ and a drink with a straw next to me. I was frustrated ’cause my cigarettes were on the other side of the room! It seemed to be a very long day of me just stuck on this bed, with nothing to do. She finally returned home and let me free and said she just didn’t want me to go, so I ended up staying another night. I hope she deleted the pictures though..

DND: Back to the serious questions here—What’s the most memorable experience you’ve had as a band?

Tyler: We’ve had so many memorable experiences together so it’s hard just to pick one. For me personally, I’d say one of our first shows was a memory I will never forget. My family and close friends all came out to check us out and I just remember playing and looking out and seeing them all smiling and enjoying the show, and the feedback they gave was great, and it made me so happy knowing that my family and friends saw me doing what I love most and gave me all their support!

DND: You all have individual influences, but as a whole, who is your biggest inspiration as a band?

Tyler: We all have so many different influences, which is what makes us stand out, because we bring it all to the table and you can hear it all in our music. We want to do something unique and different and we feel, especially with our new songs, that we are doing just that!

DND: On an individual basis, who inspires you?

Tyler: My main influences as far as bassists go are the likes of Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue), Ashley Purdy (Black Veil Brides), Devin Sola (Motionless In White), Twiggy Ramirez (Marilyn Manson), Max Green (Ex-Escape The Fate/Falling In Reverse), TJ Bell (Escape The Fate) and many more!
aaaa

DND: What is one song that will always touch your heart?

Tyler: Picture Perfect by Escape The Fate because I think the lyrics are beautifully written. We all have that one person we miss more than anything and I think this song sums up those feelings perfectly.

DND: What’s it like to know you inspire others?

Tyler: It’s insane! It honestly makes me feel amazing knowing that something I put my heart and soul into inspires others to keep moving forward and do what they love! You only get one shot at life, so live it the way you want to live, make yourself happy, not everyone else!

DND: Can you tell me a little bit about the music you’ve already released?

Tyler: Well we released two songs with our old vocalist called ‘Fearless’ and ‘True Reflections’ however since Jamie has joined we took them down, because we have re-written them and improved them to the standard we are all happy about. We will be releasing new demo’s with Jamie as soon as possible and hopefully recording our Debut EP after our UK Tour at the end of the year! At this moment in time, on our pages we have two instrumental’s of songs we have been working on and we can’t wait to get the vocals recorded and show the world what we’ve got!

DND: Finally, what’s down the road for the band, and where would you like to be in your career by this time next year?

Tyler: So we are currently writing new material, which we are all very pleased with, we feel we’ve gone to the next level with the new songs! We are getting ready for our UK tour with our friends in Contek, then hopefully hitting the studio to record our EP towards the end of the year/start of 2015! We also have merch on the way, and we are all very excited about the designs we have and we hope people love them! We are bringing back our weekly feature of Thirsty Thursday Spotlight. Here is where we feature a band that has the thirst to rock and are determined to roll. Here is where we feature a band that you need to know. Today’s featured band is Shattered Generation from Nottingham, England.

These young guys have the passion, energy, and music to satisfy your need for rock. Shattered Generation can be desribed as Glam Metal/Sleaze Rock, Hair Metal, 80’s style rock yet with a modernized sound. They are in way imitating the 80’s bands, these boys have their own unique style and sound.

Shattered Generation is:

  • Johnny Wildheart – Vocals
  • Lexi Black – Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals, Synths
  • Acie Wilson – Bass, Backing vocals
  • Jonno – Drums, Backing Vocals

The first time I hear them was when I was at my desk playing submissions and I pressed play and went off to get my coffee. Within a couple seconds, I ran back, stubbed my toe as I rushed back to check out who was this band? I was loving what I was hearing and needed to crank it up louder! I did and that is how I got my introduction to Shattered Generation. Check out the song I was listening to, Out of Line:

This is a band that even faced with obstacles, nothing will stop their energy. Vocalist Johnny Wildheart has a heart condition and had to have a pace maker installed last year. These guys are determined more than ever to deliver high energy rock and roll. They are currently working with Dito Godwin (Motley Crue, No Doubt, KISS) and Jon Moon (Pink Floyd, Bryan Adams) and you will definitely be hearing a lot more from Shattered Generation.

We will see if we can bring you an interview with these fast rising rockers and hopefully get them to the US soon! Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news.

As their info on their Facebook page states, “Do you feel that good old Hard-Rock is in decay? Well, it’s NOT!! Here we are to change that! As long as Sewer continues writing music, Hard-Rock will never die!”  Sewer from Argentina is the hard rock band that is out there to show the world that they are here to keep the hard rock scene alive.

Sewer started in 2012 in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina after singer  Rafael Abad Ronzon was inspired by Axl Rose and the famous musical “Rock of Ages” and it’s star Stacee Jaxx. Also in Sewer is Leandro Artaza on Drums, Nico “el Maio” Maiola on Bajo/Bass, Lucas Ogallar on Guitar/Backing Vocals, and Matías Sewer on Guitar. Together these young men capture the true vibe of ’80s rock and glam rock. They have recently released a new song, “Crazy Woman” which you can check out here:

What a great sound these guys have. Their tunes were recently played on Berkeley liberation radio 104.1 at The Vampire Hour with Lexx Fenwick. That is how I found these great guys was through a post of Lexx’s and I was instantly hooked!  We hope to bring you more information about this up and coming hard rock band from Argentina.  For now I will leave you with a great cover that Sewer did of Paradise City:

NiteRain

Last year we introduced you to NiteRain as one of Tuesdays Travels.  Here is an excerpt from that post:

“This week, I have incredible ’80s inspired rock band from Oslo, Norway as our Tuesdays Travels Pick.  They are NiteRain and they have an amazing sound. Their music reminds me of catching early Motley Crue out on the Sunset Strip in the ’80s.  Early Vince Neil style vocals, Kick ass guitar riffs, slamming bass and energetic drums. Together you have the intense rock n roll of NiteRain.”

NiteRain is Adrien Persen on Guitar, Sebastian Tvedtnaes on Vocals, Morten Garberg on Drums and Frank Karlsen on Bass. They have been known to have explosive stage presence and deliver high velocity sleaze rock. These guys are definitely in the running to take over the glam sleaze rock scene! They have had great success in touring with L.A. Guns across Europe and we hope they come out here to the US soon. Their glam infused rock is just as contagious as their fierce energy and is something we need.

You can read more from that post here. Today these bad ass rockers have released their new single, “The Threat” which is off of their upcoming second album. Check it out here:

The song is awesome. I love the guitars, high energy and attitude that it delivers. NiteRain always has some great backing vocal chants that just have you rockin! Sebastian’s vocals come on powerful and feed your need for rock.  It really has me excited for the new album! Make sure to visit their social media sites so you can stay up to date on their latest news.

BlackRain

Let’s get down and dirty for Day 8 of 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know. How about some French glam rockers, BlackRain for Day 8?? These bad ass rockers first started in 2006 and quickly rose to fame in Europe and have become one of the most noted French rock bands.  You have Swan on Vocals and Guitars, Max on lead guitar and Mat on Bass and Frank on Drums.

The first time I heard BlackRain is when my son Rockin Ryan played Overloaded for me and I was instantly transformed back to my nights spent on the Sunset Strip in the ’80s. At first I thought I was listening to an old Motley Crue track!! Swan on vocals just blows you away with his powerful voice and he has perfected the high vocal ranges of the ’80s. They have some shredding guitar with off the hook riffs.   You have to check out  Overloaded here:

Last year, BlackRain showed an excellent display of their risk-taking as they dared to take part in talent tv show, “France’s Got Talent” which usually draws a much more varied audience. The band played three songs in front of millions of TV viewers and not only won the rock n roll hearts of France but ended up with the 4th place title. Something that many never imagined happening for a Glam Rock band. They finally were getting the recognition they so well deserved and as they said, “We wanted to bring Rock n Roll to France!”

They have recently released their new album, It Begins that is available worldwide on their website store. as well as some cool merch to pick up! To get to know more about BlackRain check out this video:

They are just amazing and I really hope they come out to the US next year for a tour. We will definitely be there. Check out a video for their new song “Blast Me Up” which gives us a taste of what their live shows are all about:

Make sure to visit their social media sites and spread the word about BlackRain. They have become one of my favorite bands to date and they fuckin ROCK!

You can read more from that post here. This week we wanted to bring you an interview with lead singer, Sebastian but he says we can call him Baz! Check it out here:

* * * * * *

Music Junkie Press: Thank you very much for taking the time out to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press! We are so glad we found you guys! You give us a fresh new dose of BAD ASS ROCK N ROLL!  When and how did NiteRain get started?

Baz: NiteRain started out in 2010 with four guys who wanted to kick ass and play bad ass rock n roll. it was crucial to us that the songs and the live shows was loud, heavy and aggressive. People tend to call us Punk/Hairmetalers!

Music Junkie Press:  We love the heavy and aggressive sound you guys have! We are excited about the upcoming release of your album, CROSSFIRE on the 15th. Will we be able to get that here in the States?

Baz: Oh yes you will! CrossFire will be released worldwide so everybody can get it. even if you are from Japan or Australia you can get it! Order it from http://www.amazon.com or http://www.plastichead.com. or if you just want it digitally you can get it on iTunes.

Music Junkie Press:  So glad we will be able to get it here, we will spread the word. You guys have such a successful 80’s style sound that you almost sound like a lost Motley Crue recording! What bands most influenced you?

Baz: Thank you for saying that! We are definitely influenced by Mötley Crüe, also Guns N Roses and Skid Row. These bands got the songs and the attitude. It’s important to have both.

Music Junkie Press:  I know out here in the States, being a glam or 80s rock style, sometimes gets frowned upon and you have to deal with a lot of negativity, how has it been for you guys out there?

Baz:  Nobody has fucked us over, people in different genres seems to respect us. And we don’t have that lipstick glam style that some bands have. We are more into darker stuff.

Music Junkie Press:  I admire that in your culture where you guys do respect others from different genres, we should take a lesson from you guys! What advice do you have for young teens who want to follow their dreams of getting into music?

Baz: Don’t listen to your parents and practice, practice, practice! I dont know how many hours we spent fighting with our parents in our youth playing too loud and singing too much at night etc. Do what you want to do in life. And when you get the chance, don’t miss it! Today my parents are really supportive!

Music Junkie Press:  I  know what you mean about the loud music at night. If only everyone appreciated music as we all do. Judgement Day is such a bad ass song, can you tell me more about it and the story behind it?

Baz: Yes, I can! We wrote that song about the whole Maya Armageddon stuff in 2012. All these Hollywood movies came out, National Geographic had tons of episodes on this stuff. People were kind of aware that something was gonna happen. We just took it easy and wrote a song about it all, in our minds this was gonna be the last rock n roll song on this earth since we put it out the day before the end of the world or the same day or something!

Music Junkie Press:  Well I am glad it wasn’t your LAST SONG and we are all here to enjoy more NiteRain! Your live performances that we have watched on Youtube are amazing and you guys really put on a full 150% spectacular show. Do you have any pre-show rituals?

Baz: Thanks again, there is a lot of energy going on! We have some rituals, but we can’t tell the world about it! Haha!

Music Junkie Press:  OK, we will have to let it be a secret… for now! f NiteRain could put together a dream tour, what three bands, living or dead would you have on the bill?

Baz: Thats a good one! I will say a nice evening with NiteRain, Mötley Crüe and Guns N Roses on the bill would be very exhausting to the audience! Would be sick!!

Music Junkie Press:  That would be a world class tour that no one would want to miss. If I could peak into your Ipod, what artist or song would I be most surprised at finding in there?

Baz:  If you could peek into my Ipod you would see a lot bands you wouldn’t believe, but I must say I’m a sucker for Gypsy Kings! They got so many feelgood songs, unfortunately I missed their show in Norway the 2nd November. I was on my own tour. Damn!

Music Junkie Press: NiteRain is ideal for a residency style tour on the Sunset Strip. You guys have the complete package and people would love it. Do you have any plans on coming out to America, specifically California?

Baz: We would love that! I was in California, Los Angeles this summer and hung out with the best of people. I’ve never met so many great people in 11 days. People ain’t shy over there! Love it! If we got the opportunity or got invited for something like that we would be sitting on a plane right away! Nothing would stop us!

Music Junkie Press:  Well you guys would truly fit right in and we would love to have you. What 80’s song would you consider to be your anthem song or theme song to your life?

Baz: For NiteRain? Definitely L.A Guns with the song No Mercy!!

Music Junkie Press:  Nice choice! What are your two favorite gear items you need to have? (guitar, pedal, sticks, etc)

Baz:  Since I sing I always carry my own mike and my libido. The other guys, I don’t know. They have their Ampegs and Blackstars, picks, sticks and chicks! That’s our favourite gear!

Music Junkie Press:  Love that! We have seen that you have performed at Stadiums, festivals and nightclubs. What was your favorite show you ever performed?

Baz: Every show is different. It’s as much fun to play at a packed stadium as it is to play at a packed nightclub. The energy is the same! It’s raw and brutal!

Music Junkie Press:  Lastly, is there anything else you would like to share with our audience?

Baz: Hey everybody! Its NiteRain here! We hopefully get our asses over to America in 2014 to play for you guys. Hope you all come see us! Come over and say hi, we love that. Take care and check out our Facebook www.facebook.com/niterainkicksass and our debut album ¨CrossFire¨ is out the 15th November! ¨Vi sees¨

* * * * * *

We will definitely be counting down to the release. Three more days until “Crossfire” is out. So head over to their social media sites and follow them and say “Hi”.  We will keep our fingers crossed to have NiteRain take over the Sunset Strip in a residency!  Check out this teaser from NiteRain that will leave you begging for more!
