If the temperature wasn’t hot enough on Saturday night at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort Summer Concert Series, Rick Springfield was there to take it a few degrees hotter! He is one H-O-T performer and had all the ladies under his spell.  Rick Springfield has always been one of my personal favorites. Yes, I will admit I had a huge crush on him as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital and even more so when he soon became a pop rock icon. I had his posters from Tiger Beat and Circus Magazine all over my walls.

The night was awesome and filled with great music. First we had Eddie Money and next up was Loverboy. Then for the final set, Rick came out and took over the crowd with his magnetic charm. He literally had all the ladies screaming and acting like teenage girls! It was a wild time.  Rick even did an amazing cover of Katy Perry’s ROAR that had the crowd in a frenzy as they applauded. Check out the photos by our Rockin Ryan of the set:

Another highlight was Rick’s performance of Human Touch. There was excitement in the air as Rick was in the need for that Human Touch. He jumped over the barricade and proceeded to walk out onto the crowd and delivering a spectacular performance serenading the crowd. The night was a complete success and as we were leaving, everyone was talking about how amazing the night was. I love to hear the crowd walking out and literally gush about their concert experience. We need more nights like this one!

Make sure to visit the social media sites and not miss Rick Springfield when he comes to your town!

Saturday night, we were baking in the sun as we headed to Thunder Valley Casino Resort for the first of their Summer Concert Series. The lineup started with an awesome set by Eddie Money, and finished with Rick Springfield.  Right smack in the middle was the hit filled set by one of my favorite 80’s bands, Loverboy. One thing is for sure, these guys definitely still “have it” as they treated the crowd to an energetic set and had everyone singing along to their favorite songs.

The crowd was filled to capacity and everyone was up out of their seats dancing and having a great time. This was one of the most energetic crowds I have seen in a long time. With the successful lineup of the night, there was non stop entertainment and smiles across the audience. Thunder Valley really knows how to kick off the season with a full on party!

Check out the photos by our Rockin Ryan of Loverboy‘s set here:

I forgot how many great songs Loverboy had. I know that we usually think of Working for the Weekend or Turn Me Loose but they played all my favorites like Queen of the Broken Hearts and The Kid is Hot Tonite. Check out the full set list here:

  • Notorious
  • Lucky Ones
  • Queen of the Broken Hearts
  • Take Me To the Top
  • The Kid is Hot Tonite
  • Lovin Every minute of it
  • Hot Girls in Love
  • Turn Me Loose
  • Working for the Weekend

It was magical to relive the memories that all these great songs brought. It was like taking a drink from the fountain of youth because I truly felt like I was a teenager again dancing around and singing into my hairbrush as I watched MTV.

Loverboy is :

  • Mike Reno – powerful kick ass vocals
  • Paul Dean – guitarist extraordinaire with flair
  • Doug Johnson – madman keyboardist
  • “Spider” Sinnaeve – cool spot on bassist
  • Matt Frenette – precision charismatic drummer

Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their upcoming shows. You don’t want to miss their rejuvenating set and get ready to sing along.

Summer is finally here and one thing is for sure, we love all the summer concert series. Just this past Saturday, we headed up to the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, CA to cover their first summer show featuring Eddie Money, Loverboy and Rick Springfield. We will featuring all these bands but wanted to start it off right with the awesome set by the Eddie Money Band.

Temperatures hit in the 100’s Friday and it was definitely one of the most sweltering afternoons. That didn’t stop the energy that Eddie Money and his band gave to everyone that night. They took to the stage at 6:30 and it was in the high 90’s and there was not an empty seat in the house. They kicked off the set with the crowd favorite, Baby Hold On To Me.

What was awesome was that everyone in the crowd, forgot about the sweltering heat and was on their feet dancing and singing along. It was one of the most energetic audiences I have seen in a long time. These were definitely people who knew how to have a good time and enjoyed the spectacular set by Eddie and his band.  The set list was as follows:

  • Baby, Hold On To Me
  • Walk on Water
  • No Control
  • One More Soldier Coming Home
  • Gimme Some Water
  • Take Me Home Tonight
  • I Think I’m In Love
  • Two Tickets to Paradise
  • Shakin

One of the highlight’s of the set was when they performed the emotionally driven and touching song, One More Soldier Coming Home. This song is a beautiful tribute to all of our veterans and troops and will warm the hearts of Americans. The song is currently available on iTunes and 100% of the proceeds of the purchase of this single goes to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF). IFHF is a non-profit organization that provides support to United States military personnel and their families since 2007. They also had t-shirts available to support this great cause.

IMG_8443

It was great to see Glenn Symmonds on the drums, as he had battled cancer last year and is kicking cancer in the ass! His charismatic personality shines as he performs and is always smiling, you know he loves being behind that kit. Tommy Girvin on guitar is always a blast to watch as he blows away with his solos and makes it look so easy. Lee Beverly on bass was laying down his bass lines and would have this infectious smile on his face. Chris Grove on keyboard brings it all together with the keys and makes great contact with the crowd insuring that everyone was having a good time.

Then you have the iconic artist himself, Eddie Money center stage. On the stage performing is exactly where he belongs. There is no slowing down for this Money man and I don’t think the audience will ever want to stop seeing him Shakin. He brings out the entertainment through his songs and has everyone singing along to every word or dancing on their feet. It was nonstop from start to finish and the crowd loved him. He is definitely an entertainer and always will be one of my favorites.  Check out the photos by our Rockin Ryan of the complete set:

  • June 19 – Alameda County Fair – Pleasanton

We will see if we can bring you an interview with Eddie at one of the upcoming dates. For now, pull out your favorite Eddie Money albums and crank it up loud!

One of my favorite rock bands of all time, Y&T is celebrating 40 years of Rockin The Planet. Maybe one of the reasons I have always loved them is that they were a local band from the Bay Area and I saw them perform maybe over 25 times.  Y & T started in Oakland, California and originally released their first couple albums under the name Yesterday & Today. Since 1974 they have released 18 albums, three greatest hits collections, plus a box set and have sold over 4 million albums.

Long before Motley Crue, Guns n Roses, RATT, Metallica, there was Y&T and they are one of the founding rock bands that set the standard for many to rock! They have never stopped rockin the planet and there is no slowing down in sight for these guys. You can celebrate their 40 year anniversary by purchasing their “40” design tee which is available on their website here: http://store.meniketti.com/   Also make sure to catch them out on tour. International legendary rockers, Scorpions recently released the CD/DVD Blue Ray of their MTV Unplugged CD/DVD package. The material is from the Scorpions‘ first-ever  “MTV Unplugged show” and will feature new acoustic versions of their big hits and even five new songs!  The sets were recorded and filmed on September 11th and 12th at Lycabettus Theatre in Athens, Greece. The spectacular open-air theatre, situated 300 meters above the city, was an impressive backdrop for the first-ever open-air show in the history of “MTV Unplugged” (the theatre also shares a birth year with the Scorpionsthemselves, having been built in 1965, the same year the Scorpions formed).

The Scorpions is Klaus Meine (vocals/guitar), Rudolf Schenker (guitars/vocals), Matthias Jabs (guitars), Pawel Maciwoda (bass) and James Kottak (drums). Mikael Nord Andersson (guitars, mandolin, lap steel, vocals) and Martin Hansen (guitars, harmonica, vocals) are also providing additonal music support.

Today, they have released the video of their acoustic performance of their legendary hit, “Rock You Like a Hurricane” which is spectacular! Check it out here:

It really is amazing work and you can’t help but fall in love with the Scorpions all over again. I think I might just have to pull out my vinyls and crank up Scorpions all day long! The Scorpions are still in the midst of their epic Farewell World Tour; the tour has been going on for more than three years now.  To the delight of their fans there is no end in sight, as to date the band has only played 23 out of the 38 countries planned on the itinerary.  I hope it keeps on going and I get to catch a couple more shows from them.

The Scorpions have been rocking since 1965 and have sold upward of 75 MILLION RECORDS!! They have also recently received their star on the Hollywood Rock Walk in Los Angeles.  So let’s all mark our calendars for January 21st to pick up the new CD/DVD. For  now, I will leave you with  my Top 5 Scorpions songs.

Under the management of Southern Dirt Coalition, Full Devil Jacket put their passion into action and created an incredible album that everyone must be so proud of. The album was recorded with Justin Rimer (12 Stones) at Cross Trax in Memphis TN and includes many special guests like Zach Myers (Shinedown), Jeff Caughron (Jessta James), Paul McCoy (12 Stones),Justin Rimer (12 Stones), Jason Null (Saving Abel) and Evan Thomas (Ghost in the Machine).

I love it when I listen to a new for the first time and within the first 15 seconds, I am intrigued and excited for what the rest of the album will bring. Well, with Full Devil Jacket‘s Valley of Bones, it didn’t even take that long! Within the first 5 seconds, it grabs a hold of you and hold on for a hell of a ride.  The first track, Killers, is a bad ass song to start right off with and I can see that one being a heavy contender for the next single.

Of course, next is the awesome hit 7 Times Down that we have all fallen in love with. It rocks with with catchy lyrics and fierce guitars. You can’t help but move! 7 Times Down has rapidly gained attention as it has been added to 33 stations in the US and been played on Octane and Faction radio as well as 13 independent Internet radio stations. Everyone has been talking about that song. Their music brings a culmination of everything from Alice in Chains, PANTERA, Rob Zombie, Pearl Jam and so much more.

The album continues on with one favorite after another. You literally can’t go wrong with this one. So many times people head over and pick and choose songs when they buy from Itunes and this is not the album for that since you will find yourself buying every song!  So instead, head over to their site www.fulldeviljacket.net and get your pre-order in now!

Another standout from the album is Desert Floor,  which is brilliant and the vocals and lyrics, are just soul touching. Another song,  Picture Box Voodoo brings out a Rob Zombie-esque style but with more melodic alternative edge that I love. The guitar work in Time in the Flames is fierce and the cool riff brings it all together. All the songs are so well written and it makes you really appreciate the attention to detail this band put in to creating a complete work of art.  August is one of those songs that will literally wrap itself around you like a warm safe hug and give you hope.

Right after their album release, Full Devil Jacket will set out on touring and are already booked for three festivals. It won’t be long after, that we will get to catch them out on their Valley of Bones Tour. Make sure to visit their social media sites and keep up to date on the latest tour dates on their website www.fulldeviljacket.net.  So get ready for Valley of Bones by Full Devil Jacket. The perfect way to start off 2014 with a spectacular album!
