3Majestic Beauty Wrapped in Music

I have a wonderful treat for your ears. It is the majestic beauty wrapped in music by Marie-Claire Berreen. When you think of some of the best female vocalists like Barbra Streisand, Sarah McLaughlin, Tori Amos, and Leigh Nash,  you think of powerful voices that can reach within you and touch you with warmth. That is what I feel when I listen to the classical folk music by Marie-Claire Berreen.

Marie-Claire’s voice is like sunshine brightening the sky. you can’t help but feel the warmth from her words and they leave you feeling sun kissed. She has a wonderful CD of her beautiful music titled, “Box and a Ribbon” that will take over all of your senses.  The first song is “Honeypie” and literally is the perfect way to start off the CD. You are warm and open and feel her welcoming embrace. It is like that long lost friend coming to greet you again and feeling like you never left their side.

You are treated to so many wonderful songs like “One Arm Bandit” which draws out her mysterious dark side that I just love! Also another favorite is a lullaby style song “Mr. Monster” that I just find very soothing and comforting. With “Leave it to Me”  and ‘Turn My World Around” you get to hear her fun, flirty side in a bit more up tempo that makes you smile.

Little Space” has a beautiful seductive sound and provides almost a dance within the music. “River Flows” is like an angelic breath of fresh air and is really one of my favorites.  Marie-Claire’s song “Halo” is like providing a conversation that warms your heart. She has such depth in her vocals. “Journey” brings a deep dark sound but with sultry edges.

Lastly, I need to tell you about my number one favorite off of the album. It is “Need Me” and is truly a romantic song that draws out so much emotion, reminiscent of early Barbra Streisand. Her voice just brings me almost to tears on this one. Sincere beauty is what comes out and her lyrics are haunting yet immensely touching. This is my personal favorite and is very close to my heart.

Lyrics of “Need Me”

I’ll be your strength
I’ll be your warmth
I’ll be the one
You lean on most of all

I’ll be your friend
When you are feeling low
I’ll be around
When you’ve had time to grow

If you just need
Need me from time to time
If you just breathe
Breathe my breath back into my lungs
If you just know
That I’m not infallible
But never speak
Speak about that to anyone

I’ll be your girl
I’ll be your fantasy
I’ll make you laugh
I’ll be your sanity

I’ll nod along
And be agreeable
I’ll be the sun
When every cloud is grey

If you just need
Need me from time to time
If you just breathe
Breathe my breath back into my lungs
If you just know
That I’m not infallible
But never speak
Speak about that to anyone

I’ll be your strength, I’ll be your warmth
I’ll be your friend, I’ll be the one
I’ll be your girl and I’ll be around
